  • The Persecution in Shaanxi Province Women's Forced Labor Camp

    1) In September 2001, practitioners Ms. Zhang Yunxian, 55 years old, Ms. Ma Wenhua, 58, and Ms. He Guilan were detained in the "dark den," which was located on the second floor of the southern building at the Shaanxi Province Women's Forced Labor Camp. They were handcuffed and tortured for over a month. The three practitioners protested the persecution by holding a hunger strike. As a result, they were placed in solitary confinement, with Ms. Zhang in the Education Squadron on the first floor, Ms. Ma in the 2nd Group on the second floor, and Ms. He in the 3rd Group on the third floor. They were tortured physically and mentally for over seven months. The guards often encouraged the criminal inmates to hang the practitioners from the window bars and then kick and beat them. The three practitioners staged hunger strikes many times to resist the persecution, but the torture continued. On April 2, during the so-called "suppression" meeting, all the guards were fully armed with handcuffs and batons. Six of them held the three practitioners by grabbing their hair and arms. The practitioners were not afraid of the torture. All the other imprisoned practitioners resisted the persecution.

    2) On November 26, 2001, practitioner Ms. Liu Yuwen, 63, was working in the 2nd Group's machine room. One guard, who was standing there to watch her, told her to stand up. When Ms. Liu did not obey, Yu Yan, the leader of the 2nd Group brutally beat her. She also instigated six criminal inmates to torture Ms. Liu together. Practitioner Ms. Ma Wenjing, who was not far from the scene, shouted, "Don't beat people!" Several other practitioners also shouted "Don't beat people!" The guards blocked these practitioners from entering the room and took Ms. Liu Yuwen, in the position of "flying an airplane," out of the machine room and then out to the gate. She was handcuffed to the gate in the hallway for several days and nights. As a result, she suffered a relapse of her heart disease, and she fainted. Only after the incident was she sent to the so-called clinic. The guards used the clinic as a place to persecute practitioners by detaining them in solitary.

    3) On the evening of January 23, 2002, camp officials forced practitioners to watch video programs that slandered Falun Gong. The practitioners opposed and resisted this activity. As a result, the leaders of the labor camp ordered both the female and male guards to beat the already handcuffed practitioners. Practitioner Ms. Liu Guiqing was handcuffed to a bed frame inside the No. 7 cell on the second floor for seven days and nights. The guards handcuffed practitioner Ms. Wang Xiuwen to the gate in the second floor hallway for two days and nights, and she was later handcuffed to a steel pipe inside the guards' office for four days and five nights. They handcuffed practitioner Ms. Li Cuifang to the gate on the second floor of the north side for eight days and nights. Practitioner Ms. Zhang Danxia was handcuffed to a bar of the east-side window or the stairway to the second floor for six days and seven nights. Practitioner Ms. Zhang Ronghua was handcuffed inside a guards' office for seven days and nights. Practitioner Ms. Kan Guangying was handcuffed to a bed frame in the No. 5 cell for two days and nights. The practitioners' basic freedoms were denied.

    4) On April 3, 2002, the labor camp gathered together the practitioners detained in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Group (a total of nearly one hundred) to try to force them to be "transformed." The practitioners were confined in their rooms and their personal freedoms were denied. They were not allowed to use the toilets. For practitioners who refused respond to roll call, refused to count off, refused to report, or did not watch or listen to the propaganda that slandered Falun Gong, the guards refused to let them sleep, and also forced them to stand "facing the walls." In the meantime, the guards also ordered the criminal inmates to swear at, kick, and punch the practitioners. As a result, some practitioners became dizzy, had blurred vision, and vomited. Practitioner Ms. Luo Changyun's legs were black and blue from being kicked.

    5) Eight practitioners--Ms. Wei Xinrong, Ms. Xu Mingxia, Ms. Liu Guiqing, Ms. Sun Yuncheng, Ms. Li Shulian, Ms. Li Xiaorong, Ms. Yu Qinzhen, and Ms. Hu Chunqin--were handcuffed to the racks, gates, and stairs in the backyard, as well as to the window bars in the guards' offices, for several days and nights because they resisted the labor camp's brainwashing efforts. In the meantime, the guards instructed the criminal inmates to put urine in the other practitioners' bowls. The eight practitioners then staged a hunger strike. The guards and the common inmates handcuffed the eight practitioners, sat on them, stuffed their months with dirty clothes, and then force-fed them. Later they handcuffed the eight practitioners to the bed frames and did not allow them to use the toilet. The guards tortured practitioner Ms. Wei Xinrong for eight days and nights and Ms. Xu Mingxia for nine days and nights.

    6) Zhao Xiaoyang, who was the labor camp party secretary of the discipline committee, claimed, "Carrying persons out of the labor camp is the same as carrying them out of a hospital." One evening in mid-April, eight or nine practitioners who had been resisting the brainwashing efforts and had already been forced to stand facing the wall for several days and nights, with their legs and feet becoming swollen, including Ms. Kan Guangying, were handcuffed by male guards to the cell windows for three days and nights. They could only touch the floor with their toes. When practitioner Ms. Wang Xiuwen saw what the guards had done, she shouted, "Bad hearts." She was then handcuffed to the window in her cell for three days and nights. On the morning of May 4, the vicious Zhao Xiaoyang, holding a baton, ordered a group of guards to try to force the practitioners to watch a propaganda program that slandered Falun Gong. Seeing that Ms. Li Cuifang resisted and did not want to watch, Zhao personally went to beat Ms. Li on the head with a baton. All the practitioners, fifty of them, shouted, "Don't beat people!" Zhao then ordered a guard, whose last name is Ren, to drag Ms. Li away to a solitary cell. He handcuffed her to a window bar and then beat her with a baton. As a result, Ms. Li lost control of her bodily functions and lost consciousness. Later she was handcuffed to a bed frame for nearly one month in solitary. When practitioner Ms. Li Shulian stood up to resist the evil acts of Zhao Xiaoyang, she was also handcuffed and hung on the door frame of the meeting room for two days and nights. Later she was detained in the monitoring room by herself.

    7) From April to July 2002, this women's labor camp created an environment of terror to brutally persecute practitioners. Practitioner Ms. Du Shuming, 57, was forced to wear a straight jacket for eight days and nights, during which time she was not allowed to sleep. She was also forced to stand facing the wall. Practitioner Ms. Zhang Xiuying, 65, was handcuffed and detained in solitary for six days and nights. She was put in a straight jacket for as long as 25 days. Practitioners Ms. Gao Yimin, 60, Ms. Liu Gaixian, 50, Ms. Du Shuming, Ms. Wang Xiuwen, 56, Ms. Yu Qinzhen, 43, and others were also tortured with straight jackets for many days. Practitioner Ms. Chen Guilian, 61, was handcuffed to a bed frame, with her hands behind her back, for three days and nights. Female guard Feng used a baton to beat Ms. Chen on her buttocks and thighs until they were covered with bruises. Practitioner Ms. Zhao Bixia was handcuffed with her hands behind her back to a bed frame for two days and nights. Practitioners Ms. Li Xiaorong and Ms. Zhang Ronghua were tortured by labor camp director Tan Zhenglin and other guards. They beat and dragged the two women. When practitioner Ms. Xu Mingxia saw what was going on, she said, "Don't drag her. Let her walk." Tan then knocked Ms. Xu down to the ground with his baton, and subsequently dragged her out to the yard and hung her from the clinic's window for six hours. Later she was handcuffed in a guards' office for seven days and nights. Other practitioners including Ms. Li Shulian, Ms. Sun Yuncheng, Ms. Zhang Ronghua, and Ms. Li Xiaorong were handcuffed for eight days and nights.

    8) By March 2001, practitioner Ms. Xu Mingxia, 48, had been persecuted in the women's labor camp for a year and a half. Her term was later extended for five more months. Because she was determined in practicing Falun Gong and because she repeatedly opposed and resisted the brainwashing, guard Zhang Xiaoling tortured her severely. Ms. Xu was handcuffed continuously for over 48 days during the bitter cold of winter. She was not allowed to use the toilet and was deprived of sleep. In the meantime, the guards often beat and cursed her. During this period, she was also handcuffed to a stairway rail or the gate, and was also forced to stand facing the wall for long periods. She had experienced numerous inhumane tortures. Practitioner Ms. Yu Qinzhen, to safeguard Falun Gong, tore down the propaganda drawings. The guards kicked and punched her. Much of her hair was pulled out. Three guards, including Li Cailian, beat her in turns. Afterwards, they handcuffed her to a stairway rail. The guards instigated the criminal inmates to step on or kick her hands, chest, back, and head. The torture lasted over ten days.

    9) In late 2001, the guards discovered that practitioner Ms. Li Surong, 60, who had been detained in the women's labor camp for over two years, was reading Falun Gong articles. They handcuffed her to a bed frame two meters high. She was not allowed to use the toilet and was disallowed contact with the outside. Her pants were constantly wet and soiled. This persecution lasted seven days and nights. In the end, her term was extended for ten more days.

    10) Practitioner Ms. Zhou Yating was handcuffed to a window bar in a guard's office because she was determined in practicing Falun Gong. The guards ordered an inmate to watch Ms. Zhou, and this inmate often beat and swore at her. Once the inmate used a square stool to hit her several times on her head, and she instantly started to bleed profusely. When the blood did not stop flowing, the inmate called in the guards, who sent Ms. Zhou to the clinic. It took over a dozen stitches to close the wounds. Even after several months, her face was still swollen beyond recognition. Even though she was in such a critical condition, guard Li Zhen (the political head of the education team) still used a big needle to stab Ms. Zhou around her mouth. Ms. Zhou's month was covered with blood.

    11) In 2003, practitioner Ms. Li Zhihui, 35, wrote a solemn statement declaring that the three statements that she had written before were null and void and that she was determined in practicing Falun Gong. The guards detained her in an office all by herself. When the other practitioners went out to work and there were no others around, guards Li Zhen, Huang, and Bai surrounded Ms. Li and beat her. They kicked her and hit her with batons. After the baton landed on her face once, her face instantly became swollen and deformed. In the subsequent period of nearly three months, Ms. Li was not allowed to come out and she was not allowed to see her family members.

    12) Practitioner Ms. Xu Yuqin from Mian County and practitioner Ms. Cai Shuping from Shangluo were individually detained in the washroom because they determinedly practiced Falun Gong. They were forced to go barefooted in the bitter winter, and their quilts were also wet with water. They were forced to stay on the concrete floor, facing the wall, for several months. In these icy conditions, their bodies became swollen and they were in a very miserable state.

    13) Practitioner Ms. Liu Chunxia, 36, because she refused to cooperate with the guards' arrangement of extorting things from prisoners, was beaten and cursed by guard Bai Xiao. Later she was handcuffed under the hallway stairs. She was also injected with poisonous, unknown drugs. This made her mentally disoriented. When she was released from the labor camp, she was still not mentally clear. Before she was sent home, she was sent to Tongchuan Mental Hospital for several months of persecution. She is now completely mentally traumatized.

    14) Practitioner Ms. Zhang Lianrui found a notebook and returned it to the person who lost it. Guard Bai Xiao, after seeing this situation, said, "Ms. Zhang Lianrui, you went to the other cell." Ms. Zhang replied, "I was outside the door. I did not enter the door. I just returned the notebook." Bai said that Ms. Zhang disobeyed her. Bai opened the gate and rushed into Ms. Zhang's cell. Bai grabbed Ms. Zhang's arm and dragged her to the office, where Bai pinched Ms. Zhang and slapped her face and beat her on her chest. Ms. Zhang shouted, "The leader is beating people!" The guard closed the door and hit her more severely. Ms. Zhang's arms, neck, face, and chest exhibited many bruises. Some areas of the wounds were very large.

    15) Practitioner Ms. Fan Shuilian did not cooperate with the evil's arrangement and she tried to escape. After guard Pei Heng found and caught her, she was beaten. After that, the guards regarded her as a mental patient. The guards asked criminal inmates to put some unknown drugs into Ms. Fan's porridge, trying to mentally control her. Falun Gong practitioners had cooperated well. Once the porridge was doped with drugs, the practitioners told her not to eat the porridge. This situation lasted several months. Later, because Ms. Fan was determined in her belief in Falun Gong and did not cooperate, the guards forced her to run in the field in the winter to torture her.

    16) Practitioner Ms. Wang Shuzhen from Mian County was detained in solitary in late 2003. The labor camp leader, Tan Zhenglin, asked Ms. Wang, "What is your opinion of Falun Gong?" Ms. Wang replied, "Falun Gong is a righteous method. Falun Gong is good." Tan left unhappily. After that, Ms. Wang was kept in a cell. She was not allowed to leave the cell, to take a shower, to change clothes, or to see others until she left the labor camp.

    17) The determined practitioners all experienced inhuman tortures in Shaanxi Province Women's Forced Labor Camp. They were forced to squat on only one leg. If anyone failed to squat well, she was be kicked. The guards tortured them by forcing them to sit on tiny stools. While they sat, the practitioner had to hold their legs together, put their hands on their knees, and they were not allowed to move. If they moved, they were kicked and cursed. They were not allowed to use the toilet or to sleep, and they were forced to perform heavy labor for long periods. There were all kinds of physical tortures. The guards often searched the practitioners and their belongings. Practitioner Ms. Guan Hualian, 56, developed poor health because of the continuous heavy labor. She died of tuberculosis one year after she was released from the labor camp.

Falun Gong Gives My Family a New Life, But the Evil Chinese Communist Party Destroys It

I previously was tormented by several ailments, including hypertension, cerebral arteriosclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. I tried many different medical treatments, but nothing helped. Each day felt like an eternity. My husband and my son spent every penny they earned on my medical prescriptions. As a result, we lived in poverty. In September 1996, I had the great fortune to learn Falun Gong. In a few days, all my ailments disappeared without a trace. Falun Gong gave me a new life.

On July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin and the wicked Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started suppressing Falun Gong and openly persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. My family of four traveled to Beijing together to appeal for Falun Gong. Once we arrived at Tiananmen Square, the police took us by force to a police station. After the police tricked us into telling them our home address, they transferred us to the Baoding City Beijing Office. When the police from Laishui County came to the office, they brutally beat us and transferred us to the CCP School in Laishui County. No sooner had we gotten out of the car then many hired thugs from different towns came at us and beat us brutally with clubs, belts and our own shoes. My family and I were so severely beaten that we were beyond recognition. We were all bleeding and severely bruised. Afterwards, we were locked in a shabby house surrounded by weeds as tall as people. At night we slept on the floor. We were given only two meals each day. Besides the meager food rations, we were forced to perform hard labor. At the CCP School, the torturers made us watch video propaganda that slandered Falun Gong. We were not allowed to speak for Falun Gong. We were cursed and beaten if we opened our mouths. They beat us with bamboo sticks, clubs, belts and whips made of electrical wire. They had also burned us with cigarettes. Every imprisoned Falun Gong practitioner was subjected to psychological and physical torture.

A month later, the torturers demanded 4,000 yuan from each person, ten yuan for food expenses for each day of imprisonment, as well as a written guarantee statement promising not to practice Falun Gong again. They knew my family didn't have the money with us because my entire family were imprisoned. There was no one home except my six-year-old grandson. The torturers sent me home and told me to retrieve the money. They demanded 12,000 yuan for the four of us, but I could only produce 800 yuan. The torturers saw that I couldn't afford to pay the "ransom," so they transferred me to the local detention center. I went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal imprisonment, but they kept me in Laishui County Detention Center anyway.

At the detention center, I was made to perform hard labor every day. At night, I was made to act as a patrol guard, standing still in front of my cell. A month later, Laishui County illegally sentenced me to two years in Baoding Forced Labor Camp. However, my blood pressure rose up to 240 at the initial health exam, so I was sent back to the detention center. It was not until my blood pressure went up to 280 and I couldn't even walk that I was released.

After I returned home, I realized that the thugs from the town had stolen and sold our grain. It was near the Chinese New Year, but we had nothing to live on. Fortunately, neighbors and my daughter gave us some food, which prevented us from starving.

After I was transferred from the CCP Party School to the detention center, the thugs demanded money from my husband. Finally, only my husband, my son and a few other practitioners were imprisoned in the school. The thugs then transferred them to several different towns. My husband and my son were transferred to Yian Town, where they were forced to sweep the town government's courtyard daily. They were under watch every day and constantly suffered from brutal beatings and threats. My husband constantly suffered from brutal beatings that resulted in head injuries and pain. Moreover, the thugs frequently demanded money from him. Later I found out that my husband, imprisoned in the CCP School, had been tortured to death. In the end, he was no longer clear-minded. The thugs in Yian Town made him sell all the grain we had and took the 800 yuan from the sale of the grain. That was when they finally released my husband and my son, but my husband died the next day.

Despite my husband being tortured to death, the thugs from Laishui County and Yian Town came to harass me at home frequently and ransacked my home. They threatened that we were not to practice Falun Gong again and threatened to arrest us if they found any Falun Gong books in my home.

In the spring of 2001, the police illegally arrested my son and took him into town. About eight policemen kept hitting my son with their belts. They bared my son's lower body and beat him brutally until he was severely bruised. They tried to make my son tell him from where he got the Falun Gong truth-clarification materials. Some other practitioners passed out as a result of the police's violence.

The police always used violence against Falun Gong practitioners in secret. They extorted 1,200 to 1,300 yuan from each arrested practitioner. In the end, my son was the only one that remained in police custody. With the help of fellow practitioners, my son escaped. When the town's police discovered my son's escape, they sent out policemen all over town to hunt him down. There were policemen on each road in our village, and every policeman had a stun baton. Mayor Li Laotie ordered the police, "Beat him (my son) to death at the sight of him. We will report it as suicide."

At the time, I had already left home to avoid further persecution. I didn't return home until several months later. However, the local 610 Office, the police and thugs from the town continued to harass me at home. They arrested my son and me repeatedly.

Seeing the Sham Chinese Legal System Through My Own Persecution Experience

I was fortunate to learn Falun Gong in May 1997. Soon my wife and my daughter also started to practice Falun Gong, one after the other.

On July 20, 1999, I went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. On July 24, at eight o'clock in the morning, together with over three hundred practitioners. The police arrested us and detained us in Fentai gymnasium in Beijing. On the second day, I was escorted back to my hometown (Xuzhou) and illegally detained in the local detention center for one week. Later, I was detained by the security section in my company. The personnel at the bureau's security division interrogated me for more than ten days.

In December 1999, because I watched the video "The Biography of Jesus," the police from Xiaqiao Police Station forcibly sent me to Sanbao Detention Center in Xuzhou City. They detained me for fifteen days, and later the security section personnel in my company restricted my freedom. On December 30, I was again detained in  Jiawang New Industry Zone Police Station for three days.

On October 3, 2000, I went to Beijing to appeal again. I was pursued and arrested again, and I was forced to wonder around for over three months to avoid further persecution. On February 10, 2001, I was illegally detained in Guangzhou City. Later, I was sent to the Jiawang District Detention Center in Xuzhou City, where I was tortured. During that period, there were police officers who constantly interrogated me. The detention center head, surnamed Pan, falsely cheated me and said that as long as I did not practice, I would regain my freedom. I told him that we believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and that there is nothing wrong with that. He then revealed his true nature and viciously beat me. I was forced to wear shackles and handcuffs for ten days.

One month later, the CCTV program "Focal Point Interview" broadcast an episode that slandered Falun Gong. Pan, the detention center head, asked me to give up my Falun Gong practice. When I told him, "I don't believe the report on TV, it's a lie." He shouted loudly, and then forced me to wear shackles for fifteen additional days. When I asked him why the procuratorate personnel, who was dispatched and stationed at the detention center, didn't obey the custody terms, he replied, "We don't talk about these legal terms with you." They illegally detained me like this.

One day I was taken to the Jiawang District Court for a trial. After the presiding judge announced several legal articles, the public prosecutor used illegal articles to prosecute me. When I started my self-defense and had spoken for only less than five minutes, the presiding judge stood up and threatened me: "Don't talk!" When I strongly defended myself for about three minutes, he again shouted at me and didn't allow me to continue speaking. At this point, I could not even defend myself. Less than one hour had passed since he announced that I had the right to a defense. In the end, they sentenced me to four years in prison. When I was sent to Hongzehu Prison in Jiangsu Province I had already been detained at the detention center for five hundred and sixty-seven days!

In prison, I was forced to work within a prison team. I had to get up at three o'clock in the morning, and got off work at about eight o'clock in the evening. I had to ask for permission when I needed to use the toilet. They only allowed me to use the toilet for two minutes. The time we were allowed to eat was also extremely limited. This is a complete hell in the human world. Because I refused the evil "transformation," the police officers locked me in a room. They made me do everything in this room, including eating, drinking, and using the toilet. The guards instigated other prisoners to watch me twenty-four hours a day. Under the brutal tortures, I lost my righteous thoughts, and did something a Falun Gong practitioner should not have done.

At this time, my wife was also sent to brainwashing classes in Wangcun, Zibo City, Shandong Province for more than one month. Before this, in mid December 2000, my wife was arrested and sent to the Chaipeng Mental Hospital in Xuzhou City, and brainwashed for more than three months. Our daughter, who is attending second grade at Junior High School, was left at home alone.

On February 9, 2005, I stepped out of the prison after four years of torture. When I went to my original company and requested my job back, I was told that they had already fired me on the day of my sentencing.

The Personal Account of Three Years of Brutal Persecution in the Notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp

In March 2006, Masanjia Forced Labor Camp authorities escalated their persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Fifteen male policemen and five policewomen from the Education Section and the district police branch took turns in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners in the 1st Group. Each policeman watched over one practitioner while he/she was working. They beat the practitioners who didn't cooperate with them, and they locked them up in the solitary cells which were only two square meters and very dark inside. They also forbade them from using the toilet. Policeman Wang Yong often took the lead in beating Falun Gong practitioners.

On March 2, 2003, I was illegally arrested by the local police when I was at my mother's house. At the police station, the police asked me whom I had contacted and whom I knew. I refused to answer them. I was detained for 24 hours, and I was then sent to the custodial station in Fushun City. On March 4, I went on a hunger strike there. Eleven days later I was sentenced to three years in the forced labor camp and was sent to the notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.

I was not allowed to sleep for over ten days at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. I was forced to stand in the corridor or the bathroom. Every day, five or six collaborators besieged me and forcibly tried to brainwash me. I didn't pay any attention to them. Later I was ordered to go inside the room to do slave labor. They besieged me while I was working. I was still not allowed to sleep. Every day the guards swore at me, pushed me, and beat me.

In December 2004, in order to achieve the quota of the number of "transformed" Falun Gong practitioners, the camp authorities grouped Falun Gong practitioners together and put them in Group 1 and Group 2, then severely persecuted them. They didn't allow family members to visit them. They forced practitioners to do slave labor for long hours. The guards often swore at them and beat them. Falun Gong practitioner Jiang Weizhen stood up for a little while to relieve her lower back pain. Female guard Yang Li then punched and kicked her. Yang took Jiang Weizhen to the storehouse and tried to force her to kneel down. Jiang Weizhen said to her, "I didn't commit any crime. Why should I kneel down before you?" At the same time, practitioners working there shouted unanimously, "Falun Dafa is good!" Falun Gong practitioners in other cells then shouted with them, "Falun Dafa is good! Stop beating people!"

In order to support the practitioners being persecuted, many practitioners went on hunger strikes. They were interrogated one by one. Those who lacked righteous thoughts were taken away. The police dared not ask me anything. Two male guards and one female guard pushed Falun Gong practitioner Wu Guoying out the door. She fell to the ground and her arm became swollen instantly.

In December 2005, a new wave of persecution started. A group of male guards beat Falun Gong practitioners and forbade them from talking or using the toilet. They beat practitioners who didn't do things according to the requirements, didn't wear the labor camp uniform, or didn't do the slave labor. Every night, the cries of practitioners from the 1st Group who were being tortured could be heard throughout the cells. Falun Gong practitioner Wang Hong's face was swollen after a beating. Falun Gong practitioner He Guirong was sent to the storehouse where she was tortured. After five days of torture, one of her legs was crippled and her arms were swollen. She had to be helped to go to the dining hall. On the coldest days of winter, Falun Gong practitioners from the 2nd Group were pushed outside and left outdoors for three consecutive days (from December 31 to January 2).

In February 2006, guards from the 2nd Group, Zhou Qian and Xiang Kuili, forced us to shovel snow. I didn't cooperate with them. Zhou Qian hit the back of my head with his fist, causing me to feel dizzy. He pinched my neck with his hand. I tried to clarify truth to them but they didn't listen. They kicked me, beat me, and pushed me into the snow. More than forty Falun Gong practitioners were left outside in the cold until noon. The guards didn't let us in until their lunch time.

Falun Gong Practitioner Yang Jianpo Critically Ill Due to Torture

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Jianpo has been on hunger strike since February 16, 2006. He is illegally imprisoned in the internal medicine department of the Jidong Jail. The guards force-fed him eight times each day to persecute him. Now, Mr. Yang has become critically ill. Only after his family members' urgent requests did the Jidong Jail allow Mr. Yang to meet with his family members. At that time Mr. Yang was pushed out by criminals on a cart. His eyes showed no expression. He was barely able to speak and was very thin.

Mr. Yang is 43 years old and lives in Langfang City. He studied martial arts before practicing Falun Gong. He was very skilled at it and often fought with others. In 1998, Mr. Yang and his wife Ms. Nie Chunling started practicing Falun Gong together. After practicing Falun Gong, he became a good person who forbore and did not hit back when attacked, nor talk back when insulted. A family that was almost broken apart became reconciled because of their practice of Falun Gong. Mr. Yang's practice experience once brought tears to the majority of audience members at a Falun Dafa experience sharing conference in Langfang City. Mr. Yang's huge change after practicing was also widely known in the Langfang area. Ironically, Mr. Yang, whom nobody dared to cross before when he was a bad person, is now repeatedly persecuted as a good person.

In October 1999, Mr. and Mrs. Yang traveled to Beijing. For saying "Falun Dafa is good!" Mr. Yang was illegally sent to a forced labor camp and imprisoned in Wanzhuang Forced Labor Camp in Langfang City. He was physically abused and put onto the "Dead Person's Bed." Due to his firm belief, he was transferred to the notorious Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp, where they attempted to break his belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." In the hot summer, police handcuffed him and left him out under the sun for two and a half months without drinking water. Mr. Yang was exposed to the sun, wind and rain, and stung by insects, but he was not allowed to move. In addition, he was often sent to an interrogation chamber to be tortured late at night. Mr. Yang still did not yield. In July 2002, he walked out from there.

In March 2003, Mr. Yang was mercilessly beaten in a secret interrogation chamber in Fengrun by officials from Fengrun District, Tangshan City. They electric shocked him for three days and nights. During this type of torture, both hands are tied up with copper wire and then connected to electricity. The current can be adjusted and increased gradually. Ms. Guo Xiaohui was also tortured in the same way. Mr. An was electric-shocked for seven days and seven nights. His painful shouts spread very far. The guards used towels to fill Mr. An's mouth and continued to shock him. After one month, when someone saw Mr. An, his fingers were black and charred. While they shocked Mr. Yang, they also used leather shoes to twist his toes.

In May 2003, Mr. Yang broke out of the lockup once again.

Twelve Persecution Accounts from Susong County, Anhui Province

There is a group of people in Susong county who refuse to give up their belief in Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. They are suffering from extreme mental and physical torture by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The following are some persecution accounts from Sysong County, Anhua Province.

    1. Ms. Zhang Lianzhi, 43 years old, was an English teacher at Susong Middle High School. She used to suffered from serious neurasthenic, anemia, uterine tumor, etc. Her illnesses created family problems and led to a bad temper. After practicing Falun Gong's principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, and following the virtue of doing good deeds, her illnesses and her family situation became very peaceful.

To help more people have the opportunity to understand how wonderful Falun Gong is, Zhang Lianzhi put up many "Falun Dafa is good" posters. However, she was arrested by the Political Security Section of Susong County Police Department. The police detained her for 43 days. On February 20, 2003, Zhang Lianzi's house was illegally ransacked by the county political security police. She was illegally arrested for her unyielding belief in Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance and illegally detained for 105 days.

Ms. Zhang Lianzhi was subjected to different kinds of torture, like being threatened, forced to make confessions, continuous interrogation, and sleep deprivation. She was unable to appeal anywhere after being released from jail. She suffered a lot and was devastated both mentally and physically. Her mental state worsened and she appeared to be in a state of ongoing horror. Her family members would have to watch and take care of her for days on end. Her aged parents worried about her all the time.

Despite her severe condition, Wu Yongqun, the former deputy director of  Susong County 610 Office and Chen Jian, the Polical Section Chief of the county police department, illegally arrested her on December 1, 2003 from her home. They admitted her at the Anhui Women Forced Labor Camp.

The persecution toward Ms. Zhang in the forced labor camp started from the jail police taking turns to slap her in the face, cuff and kick her, to them instigating the criminals to beat her cruelly until her whole body was covered with bruises. The prison guards only allowed her to wear one set of clothing during the winter. They forced dirty socks, rugs and sanitary pads into her mouth. Both of her hands were handcuffed onto a metal post. They also clipped her eyelids to prevent her from sleeping. She was not allowed to eat anything. She could sit only when she had fainted under extreme pain. After she awoke, she would be handcuffed again. This brutal torture continued for seven days and nights. There was not an area left on her skin that was free of bruises. She was about to die. Fearing that she might die in there, the forced labor camp did not inform her family members. They sent her directly to the Hefei Mental Hospital to further persecute her. She was force fed with unknown drugs. When she refused to accept the force feeding, the hospital staff tied her to the bed under the instigation of the forced labor camp authorities. She was shocked with electric batons, causing wounds that are still visible on her body. Later, a nurse in the mental hospital heard about her suffering, and sympathizing with her, sent her back to the forced labor camp. The forced labor camp saw that Ms. Zhang condition was very poor and her body was extremely thin. Her life was in danger and they did not dare take responsibility for her. On March 5, 2004, they sent her back to Susong County Police Department, where she was subsequently released. Ms. Zhang was illegally persecuted in the forced labor camp for more than three months. When she was sent to the forced labor camp, she weighed 55 kilograms. When she came home, her weight was less than 35 kilograms. Even though she was in this near-death condition, the county 610 Office still kept trying to force her to give up her belief. The head of the county National Secuirty Group, Zhang Yan, once illegally pried open the iron gate of her house and intruded inside to confiscate her house and threaten her.

    2. Ms. Chen Ming, 43 years old, is a doctor at a women and children's health care hospital in Susong County. Before practicing Falun Gong, she was very thin and weak and had an irritable temperament. After practicing Falun Gong, her family members, colleagues and school mates were all shocked at the dramatic changes in her. On July 2003 and December 2005, she was twice illegally arrested and detained in a detention center for more than two months. The people responsible for her arrest include Wu Yongqun, Chen Jian, and  Zhang Yan, the leader of the county National Security Group.
