Around a dozen Falun Gong practitioners in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province have been arrested in the past month. On December 5, 2006, Mr. Shi Baoqi died suddenly after an intravenous injection in the Police 109 Hospital at age 40.
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Shi Baoqi lived in the Xishan Mine Family Housing in Taiyuan City. On November 13, 2006, policemen from Taiyuan City Department and Ximing Station stormed into practitioner Ms. Li Caiyun's home and arrested Mr. Shi Baoqi, Ms. Li Caiyun, Ms. Duan Fengqin, and Ms. Zhang Ruilian. A witness saw that Mr. Shi was covered with blood after the arrest. They were all detained in the Taiyuan City Detention Center.
On November 14, 2006, policemen ransacked Mr. Shi Baoqi's home and took away Falun Gong materials. Mr. Shi was tortured severely during detention.
On November 30, 2006, Mr. Shi was taken to the 109th Police Hospital (many practitioners tortured to death there) in Taiyuan City. After an intravenous injection with unknown drugs, he began to heavily sweat, and he was sent back to the cell, where he suddenly died.
The doctor that treated him is Li Yaqin (female), and the Department Chief is Dr. Liu (female).
The guards of the 5th Detachement of Jidong Prison have followed the orders of the wicked Chinese Communist Party in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. We have compiled the following facts to expose their crimes on the Minghui/Clearwisdom website. Overseas practitioners, please make phone calls to clarify the truth regarding this issue.
1. Mr. Ge Huaiqiang is an expert radiologist. He has a PhD and lives on Chaoyang Street, Yunhe Area in Cangzhou City. Because he practices Falun Gong, he was illegally sentenced to four years in prison and detained in the 5th Detachement of Jidong Prison. The guards once deprived him of sleep for five days and nights. If he closed his eyes, they would incite criminal inmates to push his head into water. When he was on the salt-shovel team, the guards forced him to carry bricks and do intense labor, even when his leg muscles were injured. He has appealed many times but no one has responded.
2. In August 2003, practitioner Mr. Sun Jianzhong was transferred to the Education (Brainwashing) Department of the 5th Detachement. He has suffered various methods of torture including solitary confinement, sleep deprivation, starvation and being forced to run with criminals. He was not allowed to buy food with his savings or take showers in the summer, etc. His family was allowed to visit him only after repeated requests. In addition, before his family visit, Huang Liansheng and Li Enyuan from the Education Department spoke to them for half an hour using very vicious words. When Mr. Sun finally met with his family, several people including Huang Liansheng and Li Enyuan were there to monitor. If their conversation did not conform to requirements, they would immediately interrupt. Meanwhile, they also confiscated the food his family brought him. Shortly afterwards, Mr. Sun was transferred to the Chemical Industry First Team of the 5th Detachement. He was forced to do intense labor there. The guard in charge is Ma Jianshan.
3. Practitioner Chen Aili was detained at the 5th Detachement from
January 2001 to January 2003. This was reported on January 11, 2004, on
the Minghui/Clearwisdom website.
Fifty-seven-year-old Ms. Zhang Junying is a retired employee of Jiangbei Motor Parts Factory. She began the practice of Falun Gong in 1998 and ever since then, she has conducted herself according to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. After practicing Falun Gong, her illnesses disappeared and her relationship with her husband became harmonious.
After the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, Ms. Zhang grasped every opportunity to clarify the truth to people.
On December 12, 2000, Ms. Zhang went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on Tiananmen Square. She unfurled a banner that read, "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance" and handed out several flyers before the police arrested her. The Jilin Province police stationed in Beijing escorted Ms. Zhang back to Jilin Province, where she was detained in the city's Third Detention Center.
Communist Party reporter Li Qiang, who interviewed Liu Siying in the falsified self-immolation incident on Tiananmen Square, followed Ms. Zhang from Beijing to Jilin Province. He planned on doing an untrue news piece on her and her practice of Falun Gong. One day Ms. Zhang was washing her hair when the police summoned her to the office where Li Qiang asked to interview her. She told him, "Only if you report the true situation of Falun Gong will I talk to you. Otherwise, I have nothing to say." When Ms. Zhang asked the police for a comb, Li Qiang asked, "Do you actually care about your appearance?" Ms. Zhang replied, "We practitioners are good people who act according to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. Why shouldn't we pay attention to our appearance?" Li Qiang did not have anything further to say.
Prior to the 2001 Chinese Lunar New Year, Ms. Zhang was transferred to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province. However, the labor camp refused to accept her because she had a rapid heart beat and high blood pressure. Still, the Longtan Police Station did not completely release her and told her to report to the police station and cook for them daily. Ms. Zhang refused to cook for them and when she later told them that she would also not report to the police station, the police extorted 500 yuan from her.
On June 28, 2001, Ms. Zhang went back her hometown of Chaoyang Township, Shulan City. While she was clarifying the truth of Falun Gong to people, she was reported to the local police. As a result, she was arrested by the Chaoyang Township Police Station and detained in the Nanshan Detention Center of Shulan City. Her home was ransacked by the police who confiscated her Falun Gong books and tapes and over 4000 yuan in her purse.
When her family went to visit her at the Nanshan Detention Center, they were charged 100 yuan for some lunch boxes that were worth less than 10 yuan. Ms. Zhang never received the full amount of the 100 yuan that her family left for her. By the time it reached her hands, the detention center authorities had stolen 60 yuan and only gave her 40 yuan. She was also forced to do manual labor. After four months, Ms. Zhang was sentenced to two years of forced labor at the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp of Changchun City.
The Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp inhumanly persecutes Falun Gong practitioners by using all kinds of cruel methods. They force practitioners to watch videos that slander Falun Gong and try to force practitioners to write the so-called "Five Statements" (similar to the Three Statements). Practitioners who refuse to write the statements are deprived of sleep and forced to stand near the wall and do manual labor. For practitioners who renounce their belief in Falun Gong, they are told to defame the practice and its founder. Ms. Zhang was tortured both mentally and physically until her vision became blurry.
After she returned home in 2003, the Shanqian Police Station and the Shanqian Neighborhood Committee continuously harassed her. They went to her home many times, called her on the phone, and sent agents to harass her at home.
On the afternoon of August 23, 2006, Police Chief Yan Jiafu, policeman Liu Yang, and others from Shanqian Police Station arrested Ms. Zhang while she was alone at home and sent her to the city's detention center. They also ransacked her home and confiscated a picture of the founder of Falun Gong, Falun Gong books and tapes, truth-clarifying materials, and a VCD and radio set.
At around 8:00 a.m. the next day, her relatives went to the Shanqian Police Station and demanded her immediate release. When her family asked the police why they had arrested her, policeman Liu Yang was arrogant and questioned their relationship with Ms. Zhang. He refused to answer the family's inquiries. The arrest warrant listed no name for the policeman in charge of her case.
After being detained at the detention center for a month, Ms.
Zhang Junying was sentenced to one year of forced labor. She is
currently in Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City. Ms. Zhang
has been resisting the persecution and refusing to write the "Five
Statements." On the contrary, she has been clarifying the truth to the
authorities.
Persecution Suffered by Falun Gong Practitioners
In 2000, five Falun Gong practitioners were illegally arrested and sent to the 1st Prison of Tianjin City. After several unsuccessful attempts to "transform" them, prison guard Li Qiang ordered prisoner Zhang Jun to beat practitioner Mr. Zhao Guang for more than fifty days. Mr. Zhao was so badly beaten that his face became disfigured.
Cao Chengming,Wang Jiasheng and another practitioner were also so badly beaten that their teeth were nearly dislodged.
Prisoner Li Jin thrust a scalding stainless steel cup onto the back of Mr. Zao Baoyu's hand. The resulting burn caused the skin on his hand to peel off.
Prison guards chose practitioner Mr. Xie Xiangdong as a "transformation" target and they used different means to attempt to "transform" him. They ordered prisoners to beat him and they put him in shackles for as long as fifteen days. They kept Mr. Xie on the fourth floor and put him in ankle shackles every day, which caused his heels to become abraded.
Practitioner Mr. Zhang Jinzhong was constantly tortured. A prison guard ordered some of the prisoners to beat him so viciously that he suffered a mental collapse.
Bench Punishment
"Transforming" practitioners has been linked with rewards for prison guards and the reduction of prison terms for prisoners. Prison guards and prisoners have thus used cruel means to persecute practitioners. Prison guard Yang Bo came up with a very vicious method of torture. He developed five different small benches; the smallest bench was only 5 cm long, 5 cm wide and 8 cm high. When practitioners sat on the edge of the bench, they would fall off if they moved. Many of them were unable to endure the torture and were said to be "transformed." Practitioner Wang Jiasheng was forced to sit on the bench for 16 hours a day for more than two months.
A Few Words Incurred a Gang Beating
I once shared a cell with Mr. Song Yuanshan, a 59-year-old practitioner. One morning when he was just getting up from bed, he was slapped repeatedly in the face. When I told the gang not to slap him, they beat me severely. Later, they beat me over and over until both my head and hands were bleeding and my face was swollen. Several of them suspended me on a double bed and then stepped on me with their full body weight so that my thighs became black and blue and I couldn’t walk. I had wounds all over my body. They then locked me in a small room for more than three months.
Forcing Practitioners to Wear Shackles and Chains as a Means of Persecution in Tianjin First Prison
On the afternoon of October 21, 2002, prison guard Lu Wenyuan
ordered prison monitors to force me to read aloud a newspaper article
slandering Falun Gong. When I refused to read it, they ordered me to
sit on a
small bench. When I refused to sit on it, they took me to a conference
room and beat me. They again forced me to sit on the bench. They
grabbed me and pushed me onto the bench. When I tried to stand up, they
pushed me down on the bench until it was broken. The prison monitors
then beat me and forced me to inhale rancid bean water. They then
poured cold water on my clothes and turned on an electric fan to blow
cold air on me. I was forced to wear shackles and walk up and down
stairways once or twice a day. I was badly cut and bleeding each time.
A few days later, the wounds started to become infected.

Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Yang Guangyu, 50 years old, lives at the 14th Courtyard in Zuojiazhuang, Beijing. He worked for the China New Era Group Corporation and was brutally persecuted for a long time for practicing Falun Gong. His family has been living in constant fear since the persecution began on July 20, 1999.
Yang Guangyu persisted in Falun Gong practice despite the persecution. He went to his hometown in Henan Province in the summer of 2001 to clarify the truth and was unfortunately reported to the police. The police arrived right after he had left and ransacked the home.
Mr. Yang went to Tiananmen Square on October 2, 2001, and unfurled a banner while shouting, "Restore Master Li’s reputation! Falun Dafa is good!" Officers from Beijing Police Department arrested him. They held him at the Fangshan County Custody Center without due process. Ten days later he was transferred to the Chaoyang Custody Center in Beijing and sentenced to 18 months of forced labor without a trial. He was once again transferred to Tuanhe Labor Reeducation Dispatch Division on November 20, 2001.
Yang Guangyu was persecuted at the Division for 40 days before being sent to the 3rd Group of Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp prior to January 1, 2002, where he was savagely tortured. Almost every practitioner held at that labor camp has stories soaked with tears and blood.
Mr. Yang clarified the truth to people at the Property Management Company under the China New Era Group Corporation at the end of 2004 while he was still working there. Manager Wu reported him to the head office, and pressure got him fired. His wife subsequently divorced him, and his teenage son suffered a heavy mental blow.
Yang Guangyu fled to Thailand on April 2, 2006, and sought help from
the United Nations Refugee Agency.

At noon on November 13, 2006, Xu Jian, deputy supervisor in Jiajia
Town,
Jianyang City, Sichuan Province and Zhen Dianzhong, CCP
secretary in Zhongba Village
broke into Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yan Zhenxiang's home. They
ordered Mr. Yan to
go to Ziyang for a two-day "study session." Yan Zhenxiang firmly
refused. The two officials were surprised and disappointed. Then eight
people came out and carried Yan Zhenxiang out of his home.
His wife screamed in fear.
The neighbors gathered when they heard the noise. They stopped the evildoers, saying that they should not persecute good people. The police put Yan Zhenxiang down.
One of them contacted Zhou Jianjiang at the Wumiao Township 610
Office,
who soon arrived. He threatened to arrest whoever it was that tried to
stop the officials. The officials tried to beat several villagers and
eventually took Yan Zhenxiang away. It is unknown where he is held
right now.

Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Wang Bing from Qianan County, Jilin
Province.
Seven people, including Li Yanbo from the Qianan County National Security Group and Li Dongyang from the Dabusu Police Station, broke into their home and ransacked it. They took cell phones, computers and other things worth about 10,000 yuan. They sent both practitioners to Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp on April 30, 2006.
Ms. Wang went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention and was force-fed many times, which caused severe stomach injury and profuse bleeding. Her life was in danger, and she was sent to the Jilin Province Prison Hospital.
She was treated for three months before she was taken back to the labor camp. She was extremely weak when her family visited her at the labor camp. Her weight dropped from 143 pounds to 86 pounds over a three-month period.
Guard Wei Dan and Group head Yan Lifeng hung her from a bed 24 hours a day because she persisted in doing the Falun Gong exercises. They assigned two drug addicts to watch her.
Wang Bing’s mother visited her and was extremely concerned about her after seeing her condition.
