  • Canada: Chen Zhili Is Sued during Visit to Vancouver, Subpoena Delivered

On February 7, 2006, five Canadian Falun Gong practitioners who have worked or studied in the Chinese Educational System filed a lawsuit with the Supreme Court of British Columbia, against Chen Zhili, the visiting State Council Member of China. Chen Zhili, a diehard follower of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin, has been accused of the crime of Torture and Crimes Against Humanity. The court has delivered the subpoena to Chen. This is Chen's second time to be sued since July 19, 2004, when she was accused and summoned to the court in Tanzania for "committing crimes of torturing and killing Falun Gong practitioners in the Chinese education system."

On February 7, as Chen Zhili visits the Confucius School of the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), Falun Gong practitioners protest with banners in the street

The five Canadian practitioners suing Chen are Zhang Kunlun, Jin Rong, Liu Wenyu, Zhu Ying and Fuo Zhaoxia. The court delivered the subpoena to Chen Zhili in person on February 8.

In a peaceful protest, practitioners unfold a banner reading, "Stop Persecuting Falun Gong" and "Chen Zhili forced the educational system to persecute Falun Gong! - the crime is undeniable," while Chen Zhili attends the opening ceremony of the Confucius School of BCIT on February 7

Chen Zhili has actively applied Jiang's policy of suppressing Falun Gong during her term as Minister of Education. She enforced the propaganda of slandering Falun Gong in the educational system, from elementary schools to colleges, forced students to sign their names against Falun Gong, and poisoned the minds of Chinese youth. Under the persecutory policies, in 2003 alone, there were at least 435 practitioners from 210 universities or colleges forcibly sent to brainwash classes, forced labor camps or even psychiatric hospitals, where they underwent brutal persecution. According to unofficial sources, as of January 29, 2006, nearly 150 teachers and students were persecuted to death in China. Such cases were scattered throughout the country.

Chinese Ambassador Arrives in Dallas - Falun Gong Practitioners Protest and Peacefully Expose the Persecution

Practitioners peacefully protest in front of the hotel and expose the persecution

On February 2, 2006, the Ambassador of the Chinese Communist regime to the US, Zhou Wenzhong, came to Dallas to attend a luncheon held by the World Affairs Council in the Wyndham Anatole Hotel in Dallas. Falun Gong practitioners from the Dallas area came to protest and expose the persecution against Falun Gong, providing opportunities for more people to learn the facts about how the Chinese Communist regime violates human rights, deprives people of their freedom of belief, and brutally persecutes Falun Gong practitioners who are guided by the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance."

The Wyndham Anatole Hotel, located north of downtown Dallas, stands next to the I-35 highway, and faces Market Center Blvd.  Practitioners stood on the sidewalk of Market Center Blvd wearing yellow t-shirts and held up banners and posters, drawing the attention of the luncheon's attendees. Some came up and asked questions.

Ms. Zhang, a participant of the protest said that, even though the location here was quite far from where practitioners live, everyone really wanted to take the opportunity to explain the facts to more people. The protestors range from eighty year old seniors, to young people who work in the city. They either took the day off or used their lunch breaks to drive up here. Ms. Zhang also mentioned that as the luncheon hosts invited local English and Chinese media, reporters from the largest local English newspaper "Dallas Morning News" came and saw the protest. They interviewed practitioners and reported on it.

Practitioner Ms. Yang said, "This is a very good opportunity to expose the persecution and to reveals the facts. In the process of this event, we have seen that people who long to know about Falun Gong are everywhere. On the day before the luncheon, some practitioners contacted the hotel and talked to the management of the hotel. To prepare some materials for the event, practitioners went to print out some pictures that depicted the brutal persecution and torture of practitioners in mainland China. When the employees of the copy shop saw those pictures, they were shocked, and asked for more detailed information."

Ms. Chen, another participant of the protest said, "We call for an end to the Chinese Communist regime's persecution of Falun Gong immediately. Many passersby in cars gave us a thumbs up, and honked to show their support."
