  • A Necklace Stained by Torture with Tears of Blood

This is the necklace woven by Ms. Sun Yan, a Falun Gong practitioner from Dalian City, while she was being detained in Longshan Detention Center. She wove this necklace with compassion to be given as a gift to her fellow practitioner, Ms. Gao Rongrong.

    The necklace

Ms. Gao Rongrong has passed away, but Ms. Sun Yan is still detained and persecuted at Masanjia Prison in Shenyang City. Seven years since the start of the persecution, we mourn for all practitioners who have lost their lives under the persecution and call for an end to the illegal detention of Falun Gong practitioners in all forced labor camps and prisons.

    Ms. Sun Yan

    Ms. Gao Rongrong

At the end of 2003 to early 2004, Ms. Sun and Ms. Gao were detained together in Longshan Detention Center in Shenyang City. Upon arriving at the detention center, Ms. Gao suffered severe physical torture and mental persecution, which included brainwashing. She was deprived of sleep and suffered corporal punishment. Ms. Gao got quite weak and became absentminded. Taking advantage of her poor condition, the evil people tried to force her to give up her belief in Falun Gong. They moved her to a cell on the first floor where Ms. Sun was detained. At that time, many of those who had been "transformed" surrounded Ms. Sun to try to force her to betray Falun Gong. Although surrounded by evil, Ms. Sun found many opportunities to share her understanding about the principles of Falun Gong with Ms. Gao. During the struggle between the righteous and the evil, Ms. Gao stayed quietly aside, becoming more firm with her belief as the days passed. In the following days, with support from each other, the two ladies walked together through countless tribulations with "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance" in their hearts.

Soon, the team heads, Wang Jinghui and Tang Yubo, found out that Ms Sun and Ms. Gao had become quite close. They immediately brought Ms. Sun to the workshop on the third floor and forced her to work like a slave by making crafts with very cheap plastic pieces. There, people had to perform heavy labor over 18 hours per day. The extreme labor caused the workers’ hands to deform and the skin on their hands to peel off repeatedly. Ms. Gao worried about Ms. Sun’s health and felt great pain seeing her suffer. One day, on the way to the cafeteria, Ms. Gao saw that Ms. Sun was leaving. When they passed by each other, Ms. Sun swiftly snuck something into Ms. Gao’s hand, the necklace that she had woven. She smiled to Ms. Gao who could tell how pure and firm Ms. Sun’s heart was.

Afterwards, the policemen, Tang Yubo and Wang Jinghui, tried to force Ms. Gao to go to the third floor and do slave labor when she was so weak that she couldn’t stand up straight. Ms. Gao firmly resisted the persecution. Policeman Tang Yubao stomped his feet with fury and threatened her. He told another detainee to carry her to the workshop, but Ms. Gao still refused to do the labor.

Whenever they were together, Ms. Gao and Ms. Sun would use the time to share their understandings about the principles of Falun Gong. They encouraged each other to strengthen their faith, and sent rare copies of Master Li’s lectures to each other. Policewomen Wang Jinghui, Wang Chenmei, and Ma Zaiming at the 2nd Group always stood in front of the window on the second floor to monitor the practitioners when they were lining up in the yard. They would shout out loudly whenever they found Ms. Gao and Ms. Sun standing together, "They are together again! Separate them!"

Before the 2004 Chinese New Year, practitioner Yi Shujie from Shenyang City and two others were forcibly sent to Masanjia Detention Center. Policeman Tang Yubao threatened the other practitioners, "See, three of them were sentenced to Dabai Prison. I will also see to it if any of you dare not to follow orders!" The 2nd Group even held a convention to slander Falun Gong. When Ms. Gao refused to attend the convention, policeman Tang Yubao rushed into her cell and dragged her, barefoot, down from the upper bunk, and, while holding her neck, he beat and kicked her while dragging her to the convention.

Seeing what was happening to Ms. Gao, Ms. Sun rushed in and tried to stop Tang Yubao. Tang Yubao immediately swung and punched Ms. Sun in the eye, causing it to swell and turn red. Her tears then flowed continuously. With that, Tang Yubao handcuffed Ms. Gao, took her inside the administration section and beat her and shocked her with the police baton for over one hour, causing Ms. Gao’s backbone to deform. It was during this torture that Li Fengshi, the vice director of the detention center, clamored, "What is the purpose of a detention center?! What is the purpose of having limitless power?! I don’t believe that we cannot tame little Gao Rongrong!"

Ms. Gao, Ms. Sun, and other practitioners were not intimidated by the policemen. Together, they resisted the brainwashing team led by Shi Fengyou from Zhangshi Detention Center. They refused to have pictures taken or write reports, and resisted any other persecution. They kept clarifying the truth to all the detainees and the policemen that they came into contact with.

On May 7, 2004, Gao Rongrong was tortured and her face was seriously damaged by the electric baton. This photo was taken 10 days after the torture.

At the end of April or early May 2004, Longshan Detention Center of Shenyang City started another round of brutal persecution. Even in such a severe environment, practitioners could still obtain Teacher’s new lectures. On May 7, policemen Tang Yubo and Jiang Zhaohua used electric batons to shock five practitioners, including Ms. Gao and Ms. Sun in the morning. And from noon to the evening, they shocked Ms. Gao continuously for about 7 to 8 hours, so that her face became seriously damaged. They also shocked Ms. Sun’s face, mouth, hands, feet and neck. The shocks caused a few lesions to her face, her mouth to swell, and her hands and feet to scorch.

It has been over a year since Ms. Gao Rongrong passed away, but Ms. Sun is still under detention and persecution.

Ms. Gao had treasured the necklace that Ms. Sun gave her; it is full of practitioners’ tears of blood. Later, I was passed this necklace. Every time I see this special necklace gleaming through my tears, I firmly believe that when all the people with kind hearts realize the true nature of the Chinese Communist Party, they will also learn what a wonderful future Falun Gong practitioners, with their persevering faith, are bringing about for humanity and they will understand the practitioners’ great righteous faith.

Five Years of Persecution Experienced by a 60-Year-Old Lady

Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Xu Zhnwen, 61, lives in the Chengxiang Group, Huangmei Town, in Huangmei County, Hubei Province. In the past five years, she has been arrested five times and searched just because she firmly practices Falun Gong practitioner.

Ms. Xu Zhanwen does not have children, and lives together with her husband. They have a vegetable garden. She used to be very sick before 1998, and was often bedridden. After practicing Falun Gong, all her sicknesses disappeared, and she felt very happy. She could not understand why Jiang and his regime persecuted Falun Gong, because she personally experienced such great improvement in both her physical and spiritual health.

In 2001, she was arrested when passing out truth clarifying materials, and was detained for 38 days. Guard Liu Huomao (male) beat her brutally twice, and released her only after extorting four thousand yuan.

In 2003, with the same excuse, Ms. Xu Zhanwen had been detained for 37 days. She was released after her friends and family paid a bribe.

One day in 2004, several policemen suddenly ransacked her home, found one copy of Minghui Weekly, and detained her 17 days just for that.

One day in 2005 she was shopping. Two policemen stopped her and searched her handbag. They found nothing, but still detained her more than ten days.

In the spring of 2006, she was working in her garden, and policemen came to arrest her, saying that the couplet displayed on her door was a problem. Their house had one couplet on the door, a common practice in China to celebrate the Chinese New Year. It said, "Treat Falun Gong well, and heaven gives peace." Her husband took down the first half in fear of trouble (because it mentioned "Falun Gong"). Even though policemen did not see the first half, they still arrested her, and detained her for 15 days. Government agencies, including the 610 Office and State Security agents, often arrest or detain people at will. Sometimes the First Branch of City Police Department or the Chengguan Police Station lead the action, but the Deputy Head of the First Branch, Shi Lejun (male), has always participated.

Two Sisters from Chongzhou City Brutally Persecuted

Falun Gong practitioner Tian Xiuyuan from the No.5 Group in Pengmiao Village, Jinji Township, Chongzhou County, Sichuan Province, is being brainwashed at the Yangmahe Women’s Prison in Jianyang. She was diagnosed with a tumor in her womb and needed surgery. The authorities refused to release her on medical bail. In the mean time, Tian Biying, her sister, has been illegally jailed at Chongzhou Detention Center. The authorities are attempting to sentence her.

Tian Xiuyun’s husband knows that Falun Gong is good, but was deterred by the fact that his wife and sister-in-law are constantly being persecuted. Therefore, he does not dare complain to the authorities for their release.

More details about the sisters' situation follows:

On February 20, 2006, around noon, Ms. Tian Biying was mending shoes on the roadside when three police vans parked near her. Four police officers, including Liu Zengjie, Wang Xiang, and Wu Jie, forced her back to her home. She refused to cooperate and shouted, "Falun Dafa is good" and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good." They kicked her until she passed out. They drove to her home, which they ransacked, and took away Falun Gong books and truth materials. Her identification card, a cassette player, a bike and 200 yuan in cash were also confiscated. At the detention center, Police officers Yu and Yan directed seven inmates, including Liu Juan and Long Sufang, to kick and punch her. They used a high-heeled shoe to hit her and another practitioner in the head, face and all over their bodies. They also poured cold water on Tian Biying and Huang Ying for three days.

Ms. Tian Biying is from Suining City, and is 38 years old. She had many mental diseases after she got married. Her family was very poor and did not have money for a doctor. Every time she had an outbreak, she ran around wildly. During those episodes she did not know how to put clothes on, she did not answer when she was called, and could not recognize her family members. Her family was completely helpless.

In 2000, her sister Tian Xiuyun took her home, and when her illnesses stabilized, she told her about the wonders of Falun Gong and taught her how to say "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good." After two months, her mind became clearer and her illnesses disappeared. She started to make a living by mending shoes for people. Her happiness increased greatly after she started practicing Falun Gong. She told people about the truth of Falun Gong while she was mending shoes for them because she was so grateful to Falun Gong. Her daughter used to go to Suining City for junior high school and do poorly in class. She hung around with youngsters who did not go to school. Tian Xiuyuan took her in and sent her to Jinji Township Middle School. The school did not want to accept her because of her poor academic record. Tian Xiuyun and her husband wrote a letter of guarantee to the school before the school agreed to take her. As Ms. Tian Biying is illiterate, she asked her daughter to read Zhuan Falun to her. Her daughter agreed after witnessing the changes in her mother after 6 months. Two months later, her daughter started to practice Falun Gong. Within 6 months, her grades improved. She got 80% and was accepted into a Normal School after graduating from middle school. Now Tian Biying can also read all the Falun Gong books and materials.

In March 2003, police from the Chengdong Police Station of Chongzhou City arrested Tian Biying and held her at a Detention Center for 10 days. They took away her Falun Gong books, materials and cash. Every day, the police directed inmates to abuse her physically and verbally. She sustained injuries all over her body. She could not eat as a result of the torture. Then they force-fed her and illegally jailed her at Suining Detention Center for a month.

One day in May 2004, she was mending shoes for a customer when the police took her to a detention center. Again, they took away her Falun Gong books, materials and cash. The police directed inmates, one of them named He Fengying, to abuse her physically and verbally. She was so badly injured that she passed out. She was held there for 10 days. She only got better after she got home and started to practice Falun Gong again.

On May 20, 2004, about 30 police officers from the 610 Office, National Security Bureau and Chengdong Police Station, surrounded Tian Xiuyun’s residence. They ransacked her home and took away a portrait of Teacher, Falun Gong books, truth materials and a cassette player. They even ransacked her brother-in-law’s home and took away his cell phone, which was returned later on. She was dragged into the police van by half a dozen police officers. They took her to a Detention Center, where the inmates abused her. She suffered injuries all over, was deprived of food and sleep, and suffered a mental collapse as well. On December 1, at 10:30 a.m., the court sentenced her to 4 years imprisonment. The 40-year-old Tian Xiuyun said, "You are persecuting me. I am wronged." Her sister Tian Biying announced at the court to the police "I will sue you. I will seek justice for my sister." She continuously shouted, "Falun Dafa is good."

The following is a letter written by Tian Biying to appeal for her sister.

    ***

Tian Biying of Chongzhou City – An Appeal for My Sister

Dear President of the Court House, judges and lawyers:

I am the sister of Tian Xiuyun who was sentenced illegally for practicing Falun Gong. I am writing to appeal for her release. She is not guilty. She follows the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

    1. Brief introduction of my sister

My sister Tian Xiuyun was born on December 8, 1964. She was from Xingwang Village, Fenshui Township, Suining City. She lives in Jinji Village, Chongzhou City.

Our family was very, very poor. She was married at 14. She developed many illnesses after she got married. Her abdomen was bloated to the extent that she could not wear many of her clothes. She was dizzy all the time and could not see well. She had breast milk before she even had a baby. She endured so many gynecological illnesses that she wished that she were dead.

In 1998, she learned Falun Gong and experienced its wonders. After four days, all her illnesses disappeared. No words could express her gratitude toward Teacher and her faith in Falun Gong. She wanted all people to benefit as she did. So she decided to tell people that Falun Gong is good.

On December 29, 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal for an end to the persecution and hoped that the government would see the truth of Falun Gong. However, she was sent to a forced labor camp, and jailed. She was held at a brainwashing center in Nanmusiin Zizhou City for over a year, where she was subjected to all kinds of vicious means intended to "transform" her. When she came out, she was reduced to skin and bones. All her old illnesses reappeared, and medication had no effect on her. When she started to practice again, all her symptoms disappeared. On May 20, 2004, she was taken to a detention center where she suffered severe abuse.

    2. My sister is innocent and should be released.

Our Constitution stipulates that citizens have freedom of belief, speech and publishing. There are also stipulations that citizen’s private property cannot be violated. My sister did not break any law. Her practice falls under the protection of freedom of beliefs. Since she started the practice, she has followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and would not take a cent from somebody else for anything. She is a good wife and mother, and very considerate of others. Kind people such as her being abused like this, is totally unacceptable.

My sister Tian Xiuyun is innocent and should be released right away.

Seven Years of Persecution Before Ms. Gao Huifang Died

Ms. Gao Huifang, 48 years old, was employed by the Supply Station of the Youjian Jiyun Company in Longchang Town, Sichuan Province. After she started practicing Falun Gong in January 1999, she and her family lived in perfect harmony. Her relationship with her husband also improved. In July 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began persecuting Falun Gong. Gao Huifang, however, persisted in practicing Falun Gong and never compromised with the persecutors.

She was illegally sent to a psychiatric hospital on three occasions and also was detained twice in the Nanmusi Female Detention Center in Zizhong. While she was in detention, her husband was forced to divorce her.

On January 5, 2000, Gao Huifang was required to be in the Security Department (in her company) while at work. Liang Cheng, Director of National Security in Longchang Town (since transferred) tried to force Gao Huifang to write that she would "Not appeal, not contact other Falun Gong practitioners, and not gather in a group" and similar statements. However, Gao Huifang refused to cooperate, and so the police sent her to a detention center. Around March 25, she was sent to a psychiatric hospital for persecution. In the hospital, Gao Huifang was forced to take a lot of unknown medication, which made her act differently than she had before. She was unrecognizable when her family saw her. At the end of May, her husband was forced to pay more than 30 yuan per day as "Administrative Fees." After he paid the fees she was released from the hospital.

Because she persisted in practicing, she recovered mentally and went to Beijing to appeal in the middle of July. As a result, she was again sent to a psychiatric hospital. The CCP started an economic persecution aimed at bankrupting practitioners. She was fined 5,000 yuan, and was forced to pay 35 yuan per day as "Administrative Fees." After two months, she was again transferred to the Detention Center. She was detained until end of October. The police forced Gao Huifang's husband to pay 20,000 Yuan as "guarantee money," (1) after which she was released.

On January 20, 2001, Gao Huifang was forcibly taken to Nanmusi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zizhong and held there for one year. In the labor camp, she suffered all kinds of torture. The national security police in Longchang Town also expropriated "guarantee money." Her husband was threatened that if he didn't divorce Gao Huifang, his son would not be allowed to go to college. In consideration for his son, her husband had to take a lawyer to the camp to process the documents for divorce. Such a harmonious family was torn apart by the CCP.

In May 2002, Gao Huifang was sent to the Women's Prison in Jianyang City, Sichuan Province and helped people who had enlightened along an evil path to wake up. She was then taken to Nanmusi Women's Labor Camp in Zizhong, where she was persecuted for three years. After her release, Gao had to live on the street.

In February 2006, Gao Huifang went to Chengdu City, Chengchu District to take care of Liu Ying, a practitioner in Qinglong District, Chenghua Town, Chengdu City and was maltreated to the point of mental collapse in the Chenghua Town Brainwashing Center. On February 21, Gao Huifang was picked up by staff of the Longchang Detention Center. At that time, Gao Huifang started a hunger strike, and was released from the Detention Center after one month.

On July 16, we saw on Clearwisdom (/emh/articles/2006/7/16/75526.html) that Gao Huifang had been arrested by police in Longchang Town on June 29, 2006. At noon of that day, Gao Huifang died.

    Notes:

    (1) "guarantee money": The police force detained practitioners' family members to pay guarantee money. If the practitioner continues to practice Falun Gong, then the money would be confiscated by the police.

Ms. Sun Zhaolan, CEO of a Company in China, is Arrested

Ms. Sun Zhaolan is the CEO of the Tiandiyuan Company, located in the Qingshanquan Area, in Jiawang District, Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province. She used to be in very poor health, but after she started to practice Falun Gong, she tried to be a good person according to the standards of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, and she became very healthy and kind to others.

In the past seven years of the bloody persecution of Falun Gong, in order to expose that the vile Chinese Communist party (CCP) is still removing many Falun Gong practitioners' organs while they are alive for profit, and in order to stop this unprecedented persecution, Ms. Sun Zhaolan distributed the amazing book, Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, along with truth clarifying materials, around her neighborhood. She was reported by people who do not know the truth, and was arrested by the 610 Office and policemen from the Qingshanquan Area Station on July 5, 2006. Her home and office was ransacked. She is now detained in the Dinglou Detention Center in Xuzhou City. The police are constantly harassing and threatening her family.

Li Xiuling and Other Practitioners from Shulan City are Illegally Arrested

Falun Gong practitioners Li Xiuling from Shulan City, and Hu Tianchi and Chen Qinglan from Jishu Town, Jilin Province were recently arrested by the Shulan City 610 Office, the National Security Team, and the Security Office of Jishu Mining Bureau. They have all been sent to a brainwashing center.

On the morning of July 18, 2006, a group of policemen from the Shulan City 610 Office, the National Security Team, and Li Xiaoguang, the head of the Security Office of Jishu Mining Bureau, drove to Falun Gong practitioner Hu Tianchi’s office at the Transportation Division of Jishu Mining Bureau. Falun Gong practitioner Hu Tianchi had just arrived at the office when a gang of policemen grabbed her and abducted her. Seeing this, her colleagues and supervisor tried to persuade the police not to do this, saying that Hu’s work at the company was outstanding, and that the financial situation of the company would be greatly affected if she were to be arrested. However, a policeman from the Shulan City National Security Team retorted back in an outrageous tone, "Don’t talk to me anything about work!" They wholly disregarded the criticisms from Hu's colleagues and the passers-by and abducted her, taking her to the Xiangshui Reservoir in Jishu City, a brainwashing center. The next day, her colleagues and manager visited the brainwashing center and asked for Hu's release, but the request was rejected.

On the same day, the same group of police went to the home of Falun Gong practitioner Chen Qinglan in Jishu Town, and abducted her, taking her to the brainwashing center.

On July 20, policemen from the National Security Team of Shulan City, along with the local police station, arrested Falun Gong practitioner Li Xiuling and took her to the brainwashing center as well.

On July 18, Falun Gong practitioner Li Qiang from Jiaohe City was arrested and taken to the Xiangshui Reservoir brainwashing center. From the information provided by a colleague of an illegally arrested Falun Gong practitioner, the brainwashing center forced practitioners’ companies and the practitioners themselves to pay very high fees: 200 yuan/day for half a month, for a sum of 3000 yuan. This fee was demanded and forcibly taken. Grievances mushroomed everywhere in the companies as well as with all the related innocent people. Moreover, it has also greatly affected the lives of many of these families.

Practitioner Wang Guiqin Currently under Illegal Detention in Changchun City

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Guiqin, 36 years old and from Changchun City, has been persecuted since 1999 for perseverance in practicing "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance." The following is an account of her persecution experiences:

Wang Guiqin was unconditionally fired by her work unit, the Changchun City Washing Machine Manufacturer (currently known as Luolan Swan Washing Machine Manufacturer) in 1999, when the persecution of Falun Gong started. From 1999 to 2000, local police, the members from the neighborhood committee and 610 Office officials harassed Wang’s family repeatedly and detained Wang five times. Wang was detained in the Daguang Detention Center in Changchun City twice, in the Balibao Detention Center, and the Pudong Street Detention Center in the economic development district, for two weeks, ten days and one night respectively. Wang was also detained in the Shuangyangsan Detention Center for an unknown amount of time.

In November 2000, Wang went to Beijing to appeal, and was arrested and detained by Chaoyang District Police Station for over two weeks. Wang later managed to escape.

When Falun Gong practitioners intercepted the TV signals in Changchun and broadcasted truth clarification programs on March 5, 2002, the 610 Office in Changchun City carried out orders from the evil head Jiang to persecute Falun Gong practitioners on a bigger scale, including mass arrests and illegal confiscation of property. In mid-March, Wang was forcibly taken away by three to four police. Her home was also confiscated. She was sent to the Economic Development District Police Station in Changchun City and was tortured. Wang was sentenced to two years forced labor for continuing to practice Falun Gong.

Wang was tortured with electric shocks, physical torture and deprived of sleep while she was detained in the Second Squad of the Second Group of Heizuizi Women’s Forced Labor Camp. (The main person responsible for the torture is called Zhang Xiaohui.) When her family visited Wang, they saw that her body covered with electric bruises and her stomach was swollen. Wang was later transferred to Xinglongshan Brainwashing Class by the 610 Office (former Jilin Provincial Legal Institution) for three months after her refusal to write the five statements (to give up Falun Gong).

From April to June 2006, Wang still refused to write the five statements. She smashed a bulletin board that publicized propaganda materials that slander Falun Gong and was therefore sentenced to two more years.

July 9, 2006, is supposed to have been the expiration date of Wang’s two year sentence. But as Wang refused to write the five statements, the police extended her sentence from July 9 to July 19, and eventually to July 29. The notice of extension was written by two guards. The responsible police are: Police ID #2200277 and 2200295 respectively. One is Liu Lianying, head of the detention group, and the other is unknown.

Wang’s family members went to the detention center to visit Wang every week between May to July of this year. The guards refused to let them see her. Under the strong request by her family on July 18, they were finally able to see her.

Shanghai City Police Arrest Ms. Zeng Aihua, Visiting from Hong Kong, and Threaten Her Daughter Who Appeals for Her Release

On May 22, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zeng Aihua from Hong Kong was arrested by police in Shanghai. On July 20, 2006, Shanghai police officer Wang had a talk with Ms. Zeng Aihua's husband (who is 70 years old). Wang threatened to "do something" to the couple’s daughter Cheng Muhan.

Ms. Zeng Aihua's daughter in Hong Kong, Chen Muhan, is actively calling for the release of her innocent mother. Her actions include sitting on hunger strike in front of the Chinese Liaison Office, seeking support from congress people, media, etc.

Ms. Chen Muhan sitting on a hunger strike in front of the Chinese Liaison Office to request the release of her mother

Officer Wang in Shanghai refused to tell his first name or what department he serves, but he was very rude. He was very mad at Ms. Chen Muhan's open protest in Hong Kong, and said that he knows that Ms. Chen Muhan is still a Chinese citizen, and wants her to understand the consequences of her "resistance." He even said that Ms. Chen Muhan's appeal is not beneficial to her detained mother Zeng Aihua. Ms. Zeng's family in Shanghai is very worried about the safety of Ms. Chen Muhan, and fear that she might have been abducted by Chinese Communist party (CCP) special agents in Hong Kong.

Ms. Chen Muhan expressed that in order to rescue her mother as soon as possible, she would absolutely not give in to such a threat. She will stay in Hong Kong, and continue to call for help. She said that the detention of her mother by Mainland Chinese police is illegal. Her calls are for returning justice to her mother, and her conduct is totally approved by the Hong Kong law and supported by the Hong Kong police. She believes that if people dared to abduct her, the Hong Kong police would investigate, and the global media would expose such a crime. The criminal nature of the Chinese was clearly shown when officer Wang disrespected the Chinese law and threatened to Chen's family in Shanghai to harm Chen’s detained mother.

Doctor Zhu Mingchun Brutally Persecuted in Wumaping Prison in Leshan, Sichuan

Doctor Zhu Mingchun was illegally arrested on January 12, 2004 and was sent to the Wumaping Prison in Leshan, Sichuan Province. Later, he escaped when he was being transferred from the detention center to Wumaping Prison. On January 14, when he went to Jiajiang Train Station, the police again arrested him, and he was brutally beaten. His ankle was seriously injured and he was left disabled.

Doctor Zhu was sent to Wumaping Prison. The guards planned to persecute him by putting him under solitary confinement in the so-called "special training team." When taken to the solitary cell, Dr. Zhu shouted, "I am a Falun Gong practitioner. I do not belong here." The "special training team" clubbed him and forced him into the solitary cell. Dr. Zhu continued to shout out for justice. Guard He Qingquan in the "special training" team ordered others to throw Dr. Zhu into an ice-cold pool and left him in the water for a long period of time.

After Dr. Zhu was forced into the solitary cell, he often shouted out words of truth and justice. The guards poured a whole basin of cold water on him through the eyelets of the cell. Even if both he and his blanket were soaked, he was not allowed to change clothes. For two months, he wore a thin "special training uniform" and could only sleep for four or five hours at night. His bed was a flagstone with a very thin blanket. The so-called windows were two eyelets on the wall. In the winter the cold wind blew through the eyelets and Dr. Zhu could hardly sleep. The guards often poured cold water through the door and soaked the blanket. The guards used various means to physically persecute Dr. Zhu. He was forced to stand straight with five parts on his body leaned on the wall, forced to "introspect," to stand upside down, to do splits, and to repeatedly put on and take off his clothes. He was also forced to recite the prison regulations and training regulations and was deprived of sleep if he refused to do so. When he had meals, he was forced to cross his legs with his head on the ground. If his head didn’t touch the ground, the guard would step on Dr. Zhu’s back and press his head to the ground. He was given very little food. He had to finish his meal by the time the guard counted to ten. After being mercilessly tortured for two months, Dr. Zhu was covered with wounds and bruises. According to guard He Qingquan’s own words, Zhu Mingchun's body was "completely destroyed" in the solitary cell.

Prisoners in the "special training team" were ordered to follow instructions unconditionally. If anyone refused to follow the instructions, the guards would violently beat him. According to incomplete statistics, at least 100 people in the "special training team" were beaten to death or died of internal injuries. The people who were injured were numerous. In addition to Dr. Zhu Mingchun, over a dozen practitioners including Li Huabin, Liu Lun, Zhao Benyong, Zhu Zhaojie, Yang Shunfa and Gong Wenyou, were persecuted in the training team. Even now, guard Gao Hu sends several practitioners to the training team every night to torture them.

In March 2004, Dr. Zhu Mingchun was sent back to the Miyi Detention Center. The Miyi County Court charged Dr. Zhu with "escaping from prison" and sentenced Dr. Zhu to one and half years of imprisonment. Dr. Zhu was illegally sentenced to a total of nine years of imprisonment. On May 30, 2004, Dr. Zhu was sent to Wumaping Prison again. He was forced to attend brainwashing classes many times during his imprisonment. Currently he is still under close surveillance with specific prisoners assigned to watch him. Guard Gao Hu forced Dr. Zhu and a dozen other practitioners to do formation drills every night despite Dr. Zhu’s injured leg. The practitioners were also forced to work for over 10 hours during the daytime.

Zhong Jianping and Chen Yujiang Seriously Ill in Prison Due to Persecution

Falun Gong practitioner Zhong Jianping was arrested in his apartment in March 2001. He was detained and sentenced to nine years in prison. He is now serving in the Fifth Prison of Xinjiang. They subjected him to various tortures, tried to brainwash him to give up his belief in Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and tried to force him to "admit his mistakes." Now, Zhong Jianping shows severe symptoms of tuberculosis. Every day, he needs a pair of crutches in order to walk. Zhong Jianping used to be healthier and stronger than most people. Even under such a condition, prison guards and staff from the 610 Office continue to torture him and try to use this opportunity to extort money from his family.

Falun Gong practitioner Chen Yujiang was forced-fed for two years after he started a hunger strike to protest his unlawful detention. Due to the severe persecution, his physical health continues to deteriorate.

Chen Yujiang is a former employee of the Water Factory of the Wulabo Xinjiang Military Group in Wulumuqi. Since November 2004, he has been unlawfully detained in the Fifth Prison of Xinjiang. The prison guards incite inmates with long jail terms to torture Chen Yujiang and other practitioners. Warden Dong Feng beat practitioners himself and often makes fun of the practitioners. Warden Zhang Jun continuously persecutes practitioners.
