  • Practitioner Mr. Yang Qiansheng from Hunan Province Died from Repeated Blood Draws and Bone Marrow Removal

Mr. Yang Qiansheng, a Falun Gong practitioner from Hunan. Medical personnel from the 535th Military Hospital repeatedly drew his blood and removed his bone marrow over a ten-day period at the end of 2000, causing his death.

On the morning of December 13, 2000, Mr. Yang, in possession of Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials, passed through the train station at Sanxianqiao. Apparently the wind from a passing train was strong enough to knock Mr. Yang to the ground, but the train itself did not hit him. He lost consciousness. Train company employees sent him to the 535th Military Hospital. A medical check revealed a cut on the head, which they closed with three sutures. No life-threatening injuries were detected. Mr. Yang had by then come to and told the medical personnel he was a Falun Gong practitioner and needed no further hospitalization.

Mr. Yang asked the doctor to be discharged on December 14. He was clear-minded and energetic. His request was denied. His wife observed the medical chief and an unidentified person discussing that they wouldn’t let the family member take part in the hospitalization. Mr. Yang refused to have an injection or take medicine. They then bound him to the bed. They pried open his mouth and pinched his nose to feed him the drug. They forcibly injected an unknown substance (pink color with white foam) into his body.

They drew his blood for seven consecutive days, 200 ml each day. Mr. Yang became unable to speak and was in a coma. His face was red. Seeing his suffering, his wife said to the doctor, "You drew his blood without his or his family’s consent. You should stop it. He has no disease. He will leave the hospital at once!"

The doctor said, "He was sent here; consequently, the doctors should make the decision. You shouldn’t interfere! It is not up to you to decide." They then started to draw his bone marrow and did so three times, one drawing every two days. He was placed under anesthetic prior to each bone marrow draw. The family members' presence was denied and they were prevented from entering the door. They could only watch through the door window. Since then he had completely lost consciousness. When he left hospital 40 days later the doctor said, "He shouldn’t fall, otherwise he will die."

Mr. Yang died on February 11, 2001, less than 20 days after he returned home. What was even more incongruous was when Mr. Yang’s friends were holding his funeral procession, several persons in a car came to the village and claimed they wanted to arrest Mr. Yang because he was a Falun Gong practitioner. The villagers said, "Yang Qiansheng has already died. They are holding his funeral procession. If you don’t believe us, you can go have a look on your own." They went there and had a look, pretending that they knew nothing and then left.

Mr. Sun Guo Has Been In Solitary Confinement for 2 Months

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Sun Guo has been imprisoned at the Shandong Province Prison for four years. Ever since he was arrested, he has been illegally imprisoned, tortured and suffered cruel treatment by the supervisory team of the 11th district.

On August 1, 2006, Mr. Sun Guo’s teenage daughter and his elderly brother, in his sixties, traveled a long way to visit him in the prison. Alas, they were told that Mr. Sun Guo had violated prison regulations and was not granted visiting privileges. They insisted to see him, so finally the team leader Xu told them that Mr. Sun Guo had copied Teacher’s articles and encouraged "transformed" practitioners to return to the practice. Mr. Sun Guo refused to succumb to the authorities and thus has been confined in a solitary cell for the last two months.

Practitioners inside or outside China, please help save him!

Mr. Sun Guo, 44, a college graduate, was employed at the Shandong Province Zhaoyuan City Electricity Industry Bureau. His wife, Mrs. Teng Yingfen, 47, graduate from a technical secondary school, was employed at the Shandong Province Zhaoyuan City Automatic Instrument Factory. His daughter, Ms. Sun Yanpei, 17, is a student in the gifted and talented class at the Zhaoyuan City First High School. His family lives at the Fifth Building of the Zhaoyuan City Electricity Industry Bureau Residence, Room 311. His whole family began to practice Falun Gong on August 13, 1996. They all benefited greatly from the practice of Falun Gong.

Because he was steadfast in practicing Falun Gong, Mr. Sun Guo suffered inhumane treatment during his illegal imprisonment. He lost his job, was tortured, became homeless, and then was illegally sentenced to an eight-year term at the Shandong Province Prison at Ji’nan City, Shandong Province on March 25, 2003.

Mr. Sun Guo’s wife, also a steadfast Falun Gong practitioner, is being persecuted. She was illegally imprisoned, tortured and lost her job. She was forced to become homeless on April 2002 and has not been able to return home for more than four years.

Mr. Sun Guo’s daughter, also a firm Falun Gong practitioner, was tortured at a very young age. She was illegally arrested, detained and she lost her class monitor title. She has lived alone over the past four+ years, because her father is imprisoned and her mother became homeless. She endured unimaginable pain physically and mentally.

Mr. Sun Guo’s mother, over eighty years old, was not able to bear such suffering and left the human world last year.

Mr. Sun Guo’s mother-in-law suffered a mental collapse. Once a happy family suffers now severely due to the persecution by the evil Chinese Communist Party.

We sincerely hope that practitioners inside and outside China extend a helping hand to this family once they read this article. We also hope practitioners who live around Ji’nan City or who find the opportunity to inquire about Mr. Sun Guo’s current situation at the prison report back to us over this website. We greatly thank you in advance!

Four Missing Practitioners from Hubei and Liaoning Provinces

Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Yao Guofen from Hubei Province Missing for Five Years

Ms. Yao Guofen was born in 1937. She lived in the family residential area of the Second Hospital of Hubei Province. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1999. After she went to Beijing to appeal in 2000, she was arrested and taken to the Psychiatric Hospital that belongs to the Hospital of Hubei Province. She was released in January 2001, and was constantly under surveillance afterwards. She has been missing since February 1, 2001.

Falun Gong Practitioner Wan Youqing from Wuchang County, Hubei Province Missing for Seven Years

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wan Youqing was born in 1962. She lived on West Jingshuizha Street, Jingshui Town, Wuchang County. She has been missing since October 1999.

Falun Gong Practitioner Gu Xudong from Liaoning Province Missing for Seven Years

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gu Xudong is about 40 years old. He started to practice Falun Gong in 1997. He has not returned home since he went to Beijing to appeal in 1999. He has never been heard from after that.

Looking for Sui Shuyun, from Changtu County, Liaoning Province

Ms. Sui Shuyun is about 45 years old. She was a physics teacher in Erjiazi Middle School, Changtu County, Liaoning Province. She was dismissed from her job after going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in 1999. Her husband divorced her, and then she disappeared. Her family members have searched for her everywhere, but in vain.

Ms. Yu Chunxiang and Three Other Practitioners Force-fed Daily for over a Month in Masanjia Labor Camp

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yu Chunxiang was sentenced to forced labor in 2004, and now her term in the First Ward, Masanjia Labor Camp in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province has been extended. Her family requested her release many times, but they haven't been allowed to visit Ms. Yu Chunxiang in person.

Ms. Yu Chunxiang has had her term extended multiple times. The notorious camp authorities Su Jing (female), Wang Haiyan (female), Li Ningyu (female), and Zhang (first name unknown, gender unknown) said the reason her term was extended is because Ms. Yu Chunxiang shouted "Falun Dafa is good" (three month extension), paid respectful greetings to Master Li on Chinese New Year (twenty day extension), and refused to wear a prisoner's uniform or wear a prisoner's name tag (twenty day extension), which makes a total of four months and ten days.

According to practitioners who have been just released from the Masanjia Labor Camp, Ms. Yu Chunxiang and three other practitioners have been on hunger strike to protest the persecution for more than a month. They are being force-fed every day, and their lives are in danger.

We hope fellow practitioners in China and overseas help rescue them!

In addition, the head of the first group, Li Ningyu and her husband Liu Yong (also a guard) are very evil and specifically beat up Falun Gong practitioners

A Photo Reminds Me of Another Sad Story

I was deeply moved by a photo taken on July 20, 2006, when overseas Falun Gong practitioners rallied on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. In the photo, an elderly practitioner held a board with Huhu’s picture on it. Huhu is the son of a practitioner couple that is still being detained. This photo reminded me of another story, a story that is filled with bitterness and reveals the brutality of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Practitioner holding a board with a photo of a child whose parents have been imprisoned, protesting the persecution of Falun Gong over the past seven years

Qingyang City, Gansu Province is the hometown of Falun Gong practitioner Cao Dong, who was secretly abducted after meeting with Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott, Vice President of the European Parliament, on May 21, 2006. At present, Cao Dong’s elderly parents are still living there with his young sister who is only in elementary school.

Cao Dong’s parents are kindhearted people. Their son Cao Dong is a bright and well-mannered young man. He once attended Beijing Foreign Language Institute majoring in French Literature. The elderly couple used to have a daughter. However, unfortunately, their lovely daughter passed away years ago because of illness. The couple was grief-stricken. In order to reduce their sorrow, they adopted a little girl and gave all their love to this child, Cao Dong’s little sister.

Cao Dong, who lives in Beijing, is the spiritual support of his parents. After practicing Falun Gong, Cao Dong’s eye problem disappeared, which was a great comfort for his parents.

However, after the persecution began in July 1999, like numerous other practitioners, Cao Dong was also subject to brutal persecution. He was once jailed in Inner Mongolia Drug Rehabilitation Center for clarifying the truth to the government and local people. On October 1, 2000, Cao Dong, who then worked as a tour guide, led his French clients to the airport. But he was harassed by the police. The police asked his boss about his work situation and told his boss that Cao Dong could not work on jobs involving foreign visitors. Under pressure, Cao Dong’s boss had to fire him. As a result, Cao Dong had to constantly move from place to place to avoid further persecution.

On the night of November 20, 2000, Cao Dong was illegally arrested. Along with 20 other practitioners, he was interrogated and later transferred to other detention centers. In March 2001, the Beijing Court held an illegal trial of these practitioners. Cao Dong was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months, and sent to a prison in Gansu Province.

During the four-and-a-half years, Cao Dong’s parents felt their whole life had collapsed. Moreover, Cao Dong’s wife Yang Xiaojing was also persecuted and jailed. The persecution of their son and daughter-in-law was a heavy blow to the couple. Cao Dong’s father contracted a severe heart problem. Cao Dong’s mother had to look after her sick husband and young daughter. The whole family was struggling.

On May 21, 2006, Cao Dong met with Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott, Vice President of the European Parliament. During the meeting, Cao Dong talked about the persecution he and his wife suffered. Cao Dong especially mentioned that when he once saw the body of a practitioner he knew very well, he noticed the body had holes in it and some of the organs were removed. On the same day of the interview with Mr. McMillan-Scott, the CCP abducted Cao Dong. On the night of May 26, the police ransacked his home, looted cash and other personal belongings and arrested Gao Feng, a friend who was living in his home at that time. The police threatened and interrogated Gao Feng. Later Gao Feng was released.

After Cao Dong’s arrest, none of his friends and relatives wanted to break the news to his parents, fearing his illness-stricken father could not endure such a blow. However, the Beijing National Security Group managed to obtain the elderly couple’s telephone number and threatened Cao Dong’s friends not to get involved in this matter.

I wonder how Cao Dong’s parents and young sister are going to pull through the ordeal?

I feel sad for the evildoers who follow the CCP. They don’t know that they will have to pay for all the evil deeds they have done. We sincerely hope they can wake up and quit the CCP.

Detailed Information about the Death of Yu Tianyong, a Falun Gong Practitioner in Mishan City who Died from Persecution in 2002

On January 1, 2001, Mr. Yu Tianyong, a Falun Gong practitioner in Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested in Taiping District, Harbin City. The court illegally sentenced him to 10 years on illegal charges. He was imprisoned in The Third Jail of Harbin City. Due to imprisonment and persecution for an extended period, Yu suffered from pulmonary tuberculosis and was released on bail for medical treatment. He was treated in Jixi Phthisis Hospital. During this period, police from the Land Reclaiming Bureau, and other bad people, came to constantly harass him. After one month, police in Taiping District, Harbin City, arrested Yu again and imprisoned him in Wanjia Hospital for so-called medical treatment. Two months later, on May 22, 2002, Yu died from persecution in the hospital.

Not being able to stand this bitter blow, Yu’s mother fell sick and never recovered. Whenever Tianyong’s death was mentioned, tears would roll down her face. His father has experienced many political movements first hand, thus deeply knowing about the Chinese Communist party (CCP)’s evilness. He dares not speak another word about the situation. Yu’s sister also became mentally disordered due to the police harassing and threatening them at home many times.

Yu Tianyong was 35 years old, lived in Lianzhushan Town, Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province. He started to practice Falun Gong in 1996. In July 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. The police and 610 Office in Mudanjiang City Agriculture Management Bureau, as well as the Land Reclaiming Bureau's High School (where Yu’s parents work), sent people to chase Yu down in Beijing and escorted him back by force. On the way back to Mishan City, Yu managed to escape from them. The authorities forced Yu’s parents to pay 6000 yuan to cover their travel expenses, including a visit to a dancing bar, entertainment, etc. The two old people refused them. But some bad people in the Land Reclaiming Bureau's High School took money from Yu’s parents by deducting it from their salaries for almost two years.

In June 2000, Yu’s wife, Dou Jianhua, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was arrested by Mudanjing City Land Reclaiming Bureau and was imprisoned in a detention center. At that time, Dou Jianhua was pregnant. The detention center still forced her to do taxing labor work, which caused a miscarriage. The detention center refused to release her. After protesting with a hunger strike, Dou was released home. But just a few days later, before her maternity leave ended, Beidaying Police Station in Mishan City illegally arrested her and detained her at the detention center again.

Later, the police at Mudanjiang City Land Reclaiming Bureau illegally sentenced Dou Jianhua to a forced-labor camp at Wanjia in Harbin City. She was imprisoned there and persecuted. When Yu Tianyong, (her husband) died from persecution, not only did the labor camp not tell her the news, but they also forced her to write a statement of remorse and so on, mentally torturing her repeatedly.

Ms. Hu Meizhen Subjected to Persecution in Jiangxi Women’s Forced Labor Camp

Ms. Hu Meizhen, a Falun Gong practitioner in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province encountered brutal persecution by Jiujiang City 610 Office. She was detained at the Majialong Forced Labor Camp twice, only because of her belief in Falun Gong. She is currently being persecuted at the Jiangxi Women’s Forced Labor Camp.

Ms. Hu Meizhen is about 50 years old and a professional dressmaker. Since the persecution started on July 20, 1999, Hu Meizhen has suffered brutal persecution by the local 610 Office because she insists on her belief. Her income from dressmaking is the primary financial support for the family. Police officers from Xunyang District, Jiujiang City ceaselessly harassed and arrested her, thus rendering her unable to maintain a stable source of income for her family. The family’s standard of living fell below the poverty level. Consequently, the family has almost collapsed.

In December 2000, Hu Meizhen was carried down stairs in her home by several policemen, and taken to the detention center for torturous brainwashing. She was released in late March 2001. Not long afterwards, around May 2001, she was arrested by the local 610 Office and sent to the Majialong Forced Labor Camp for three years. Because she remained steadfast in her belief in Falun Gong in the labor camp and refused to wear a prisoner’s uniform, she suffered all kinds of torture, which included being locked up in a small cell, cuffed and hung up. This caused one of her hands to become disfigured.

Due to the illegal arrest of Hu Meizhen, her three children had no income and had to discontinue their school studies. The youngest one did not complete primary school. Her husband did casual work, but the income was relatively low and not stable. He had to work for long hours and had no time to take care of the children. During the several years of persecution, their youngest child suffered from mental collapse. Because of this persecution, a formerly happy family was on the edge of collapsing.

In late April 2005, Hu Meizhen went to her parents’ home to tell the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong, and was again arrested and taken to the Majialong Forced Labor Camp. The person responsible for Ms. Hu Meizhen’s arrest was Zhong Jiafu, the manager of the Saiyang Local Police Station in Lushan District, Jiujiang City. He was formerly the commissar at the Majialong Forced Labor Camp. Meizhen’s family members begged him to set Meizhen free. But he said, "Set her free? What do I eat!" Her son’s illness worsened after this accident. Meizhen’s husband reasoned that the ill son needed care from his mother, and requested that the Xunyang District Politics and Judiciary Committee and the 610 Office release Meizhen. But his request was refused. He sighed deeply and said, "I can’t live any more!" He wanted to end his life several times, but was dissuaded from doing so by Ms. Hu Meizhen. Now his burden is even heavier.

At the Majialong Forced Labor Camp, Meizhen again encountered persecution. Her hands were cuffed behind her back and she was hung up. As a result, one of her hands was injured. She could only wash her clothes by stepping on them with her feet. Her entire body was swollen. Due to financial reasons and heavy burdens borne by the family, Meizhen’s husband did not visit her for more than six months. Prisoners who had been trained by police to supervise Meizhen constantly created difficulties for her using any means. They relentlessly pressured her to "transform."

During the seven-year long persecution, the Majialong Forced Labor Camp has closely followed the directives of the Jiang and Luo political regime in order to brutally persecute Falun Gong practitioners. These persecutors have incurred countless blood debts. When the persecutors learned that an international investigation group would come, they tightened up the persecution, intending to stop at no means to forcibly and brutally "transform" practitioners. This included ordering drug addicts to beat practitioners who refused to renounce their belief in Falun Gong. The persecutors forced some practitioners to suffer immensely, rather than ending their lives. Practitioners who were detained beyond their original prison terms were sent to Nanchang.

The Majialong Forced Labor Camp transferred evidence of their crimes and sent Hu Meizhen to the Jiangxi Province Women’s Forced Labor Camp. After her husband found out, he went there and encouraged her, "You must live, don’t commit suicide. It is sinful to commit suicide." The supervising guard heard it, rushed into the room and dragged him out and said, "Do you practice Falun Gong?" He answered, "No, I am simply visiting her." So the guard let him go. Meizhen said her term was extended again because she insists on her belief.

Since becoming a manager around 2002, Song Qi has been the main person responsible for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Before Zhong Jiafu was transferred out of the labor camp, he was the primary organizer in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Song Qi participated in all criminal activities relating to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners from 2000 to 2004. Lu Renkui was once a group leader. During his tenure as the chief, he was directly responsible for persecuting and murdering practitioners. Lu Renkui has persecuted many practitioners and used extremely evil means to persecute Falun Gong practitioner Zhou Zuofu. In order to transform Zhou Zuofu, he not only tortured Zhou Zuofu mentally, but cuffed his hands and hung him from a window many times. Lu Renkui even deprived Zhou Zuofu of sleep and cuffed his feet to a bed. All of these torture methods and several more eventually caused Zhou Zuofu’s mental collapse.

When Lu Weiping was the administration chief and manager’s assistant. Lu organized and personally participated in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.

Xu Lijian and Luo Siwen, both at the 1st Group, are direct involved persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Xu is the chief instigator and Luo is an accomplice.

Tian Bengui and Deng Chengsong, of the 2nd Group, are directly involved in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. In order to achieve the aim of "transforming" practitioners, they often use brutal means such as hanging up practitioners and cuffing their hands, forcing practitioners to stand for a long time, depriving them of sleep. Falun Gong practitioner Mao Rulun, who was over 60 years old when she passed away, was cuffed and hung up for three days. This torture caused injury to the elder’s arm. The persecutors also cuffed and hung up practitioners Yang Zhongwen, Liu Zunfeng, Zhang Wenlei and Yu Song, and physically punished them, deprived them of sleep and subjected them to many other unspeakable tortures.

Chen Shili, at the 3rd Group, is a primary accomplice in murder and persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Chen Chili once persecuted practitioners Huang Daoguo (over 60 years old), Fei Weidong and Yang Zhenxiong and several other practitioners.

Xi Hui, Zhou Jing and Liu Junping are the primary accomplices in the murder and persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in the Fourth Women’s Group. The Fourth Group is reported as a labor camp that persecutes mostly Falun Gong practitioners. In order to establish the women’s group, Zhou Jing was transferred to the labor camp in late 2000. Zhou is very fierce and, on the basis of her "merits" in persecuting Falun Gong, was later promoted by Xi Hui. Liu Junping is also very vicious. It is reported that he was especially vicious towards Falun Gong practitioner Huang Jinrong, who is in his forties. After Huang was arrested and later released, he went to Liu’s home to clarify the truth. Huang was then persecuted for a second time. Liu Junping cuffed Huang for very long time, and sometimes hung up Huang, tortured him mentally, and caused Huang Jinrong to suffer tremendous physical harm and mental trauma.

The above is only a fraction of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Majialong Forced Labor Camp. The labor camp is preparing to close down the women’s Fourth Group this year in order to destroy all evidence of their crimes.

The Persecution of Mr. Ma Jianshe from Xinji City, Hebei Province

Mr. Ma Jianshe was from Sijie, Xinji City, Hebei Province. After he practiced Falun Gong, his many chronic diseases such as diabetes vanished. He persisted in practicing Falun Gong and clarifying the truth, so he was arrested, detained and fined many times by the authorities. Because of the harassment and intimidation from the police officers, his old diseases relapsed. He died on June 13, 2005, at the age of 54. More details follow:

Before practicing Falun Gong, Mr. Ma Jianshe used to have serious diabetes and was confined to bed for many years. He sought medical help all the time and couldn’t work. After he started practicing Falun Gong in 1997, the disease he had suffered from for many years vanished. He became healthy and then made a living by repairing bicycles.

He did a good job and never cheated anybody, so his neighbors and nearby villagers preferred his repair work to others’. He often forgot to eat when he had many jobs. Only after he finished all the urgent jobs would he eat the food that his wife had sent with him. When people saw that he ate anything and didn’t restrict himself to any particular type of food, they said, "Falun Gong is really wonderful. It can cure such serious diabetes." One time he got a forged note of 50 yuan. After he confirmed it was a forged note, he immediately tore it up, saying, "It came to me and I won’t let it cheat other people." All the people far and near recognized that Mr. Ma Jianshe was a good person.

When the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, he walked to Beijing to clarify the truth. After he walked for six days, he was arrested and sent back to the Zhanqian Police Station. He went again to Tiananmen Square to appeal for Falun Gong on October 5, 1999, and was arrested again. The police officer from Xinji took him to the car. On the way back, the police officer extorted 50 yuan from him at every intersection. He was detained at the Xinji City Cotton and Linen Company, where he went on a hunger strike for three days to protest the illegal detention. About six days later, he was transferred to Xinji City Detention Center. He was detained for more than 30 days and was fined 2,600 yuan.

During the October 1 holiday in 2000, police officers from the Zhanqian Police Station arrested him from his bicycle-repair booth and took him to the police station. They forced him to write a guarantee statement promising to give up Falun Gong, otherwise they wouldn’t let him go home. As soon as he was released two days later, Liu Quan, a security person, came to Mr. Ma’s home at 8 p.m. He lied and said, "Xinghua Office (a Town Government office) asks Ma Jianshe to come in and report. Nothing else." However, when he went to the office, he was immediately detained. He wasn’t released until 40 days later. Over the 2002 Chinese New Year Holiday, he was again detained by the Xinghua Office.

Government officials and police officers from Xinji 610 Office, Xinji Police Department, the Xinghua Office, and the Zhanqian Police Station, in total 12 persons, came to his home on March 15, 2003. They tried to take him to the brainwashing center. Mr. Ma said, "I practice Falun Gong, learning Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, trying to be a good person. What’s wrong with that?" They said, "The authorities don’t permit you to be a good person. If you want to be a good person, we will arrest you. We ask you to come, and you should come. We don’t want to lose our jobs for your sake." After they sent Mr. Ma to the brainwashing center, they forced him to write the "Four Statements." He refused. Officials from the "610 Office" headed by Xie Zhiyuan then abused, beat, and kicked him. They deprived him of sleep and punished him by making him stand for a long time, with his back bent and his head against the wall. He protested by hunger striking. Later, under the persecution, he wrote the "Four Statements." He was released after suffering torturous persecution for more than 20 days.

National Security Group Chief Geng Zhanfeng (the father of a current police officer, Geng Chao) led the police to Mr. Ma's home many times to search the place and harass him. When they couldn’t find anything, they threatened, "We will still come the next time. If we find some Falun Gong materials, we will make you lose everything." Due to the continuing harassment, arrest, intimidation, and extortion attempts, Mr. Ma’s health gradually deteriorated. His old diseases relapsed and he passed away in June 2005.

The Persecution Experienced by Falun Gong Practitioners in Jilin Province (Part 2)
    Yan Shijun's Experience

    Part 1: /emh/articles/2006/8/11/76632.html

Mr. Yan Shijun, who lives in Sihe Town, Yushu City, Jilin Province, started to practice Falun Gong in 1996. Mr. Yan benefited physically and mentally from the exercises.

After July 29, 1999, when the CCP regime outlawed Falun Gong, he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, but was arrested in Tiananmen Square and sent back to the Yushu Detention Center for fifteen days. Some practitioners who memorized new Falun Gong articles rather than the jail regulations were beaten by the guards, or were forced to sit on a wooden bench for a long time with legs crossed and palms up on the knees. If their bodies did not remain upright, the guards would strike the practitioners' backs with a bamboo sticks, oftentimes leaving bloody wounds.

In 2001, Mr. Yan went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong again, but was stopped in Jilin train station. In the police station nearby, the police bullied him into revealing his name and address, and deceived him into believing he would be set free if he told them his identity. Thus, Mr. Yan was trapped and was sent to the Yushu Detention Center. Later he was transferred to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp for further persecution.

In the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, Mr. Yan was under surveillance by four or five prisoners. In order to force him to renounce Falun Gong, the prisoners persecuted him with sleep deprivation and electric shocks.

In January 2002, Yan was tortured by Li Xiaohua, the head of the 4th Group, who used an electric baton to shock his head, neck and chest, and threatened him, saying that he was predestined to be "transformed" under torture. Later on, Mr. Yan was sent to Jiutai Forced Labor Camp in Jilin Province.

In November 2002, the police caught Mr. Yan when he was hanging a Falun Gong banner and sent him to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp, where he has been deprived of sleep for one month. Certain prisoners are designated to torture him there. He was forced to stand with his face touching the wall; otherwise, he would be punished by being smacked against the wall. He was also forced to slander Falun Gong.

One day, Mr. Yan was forced to write a report. He signed it "Falun Gong practitioner." Accordingly, the guard asked him to correct it as "detainee." Yan answered, "I am innocent; I am illegally arrested; I am a Falun Gong practitioner; there is nothing wrong with me!" A guard with the family name Feng took Mr. Yan to the Instruction Room, asked him why he signed as a "Falun Gong practitioner" and asked him again to correct it, but Yan refused. The guard beat him and bloodied his mouth. Three days later, one tooth fell out. The guard also had five people shock him again with electric batons until he was in a coma. He was fed a drug for heart disease, but Yan threw it up in the restroom. Five days later, he lost another four teeth owing to the beating.

Since Mr. Yan has not been "transformed," five prisoners were further designated to drag him by the legs and attempt to get his fingerprints on a prepared "guarantee letter," but failed. Mr. Yan was then sent to a production workshop, where he was deprived of sleep. He was sentenced with twelve months imprisonment, and was only released after an eighteen day extension because he refused to sing songs to pay tribute to the CCP.
