Case Description:
Mr. Liu Hanyu was 44 years old; he lived in Jinshantun District, Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province. He ran a privately owned business, the Huayu Cosmetic Store. In 1998 he started practicing Falun Gong, and he benefited mentally and physically. After the persecution started in 1999, Mr. Liu's house was searched and his property was confiscated. His wife was repeatedly detained, and the lawless officials also extorted 3,000 yuan in fines from her. In the terrible situation created by members of the 610 Office, Mr. Liu lived in a state of extreme panic, and bore great mental stress. His heart disease relapsed, and he died on February 17, 2005.
