One Body -- One Mind -- One Heart

Teacher tells us that we are one body
Beyond language, beyond culture
We exist as one heart.
Teacher tells us that our righteous thoughts
are powerful and immense
Beyond the human nature of greed and intent.
But we have stepped where we should not tread
and have stumbled in darkness, in confusion
Stretching our necks to the light.
We have carelessly allowed jealousy
to enter the palace of our soul.
Our body across the sea is suffering
While we who are free still cannot see
that every step is a journey.
We must uplift our souls in order to know
the secrets that the universe keeps close.
We are one body, one mind, one heart.

Shore

Forever we have been searching,
Seeking out the goodness in others
Seeking out the heart of the world;
Peeling the layers of pain and regret away
And weeping all the time.

We have been weak and lost,
Found the strength once again
To lift ourselves up.
We have been trodden upon--
Such a gentle heart
We have encouraged to keep a beat.

Forever we have been asleep
or so now it seems
in this hour of truth and moment of need.
These two eyes that deceive
Oh, how they have wept
Dry now of tears, they are clear.

Forever we have been walking
our feet, our carriage
Broken and bleeding and only needing
Cool water and rest.
No rest in this sea
of ambiguity and indifference
that roll in waves upon humanity.

We are strong now
We have walked long.
Our hearts have heard the call
of home and all its sanctity.
We are strong enough
to continue on
and find the shore.
