NEW YORK, Jul 18, 2001 -- (PRNewswire) People who support and practice Falun Gong are holding a press conference at the United Nations, Wednesday, July 18, 2001 at 3:00pm, marking the two-year anniversary of the crackdown by China.

Bus loads of supporters and Falun Gong practitioners will leave New York City en route to Washington, DC to join cross-country walkers, cyclist, and other practitioners and supporters who are gathering in Washington to ask our government to help rescue Falun Gong practitioners that are persecuted in China.

Before leaving New York City on Wednesday, the supporters and practitioners will gather at the United Nations to ask that body to help rescue Falun Gong practitioners that are presently being held in labor camps and jails in China.

The group will carry the message, "S.O.S.! URGENT CALL TO RESCUE THE FALUN GONG PRACTITIONERS PERSECUTED IN CHINA", walking west on 47th street to the Chinese Consultant (W. 47th St.) to again ask that China stop the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

The press conference will consist of speeches from Falun Gong supporters and practitioners.
