A Letter from a Non-Practitioner: My Beloved Motherland, When Can We Have True Freedom?

June 07, 2004 |

(Clearwisdom.net)

I am a Chinese national who has recently settled in Germany. I am writing to you in tears.

I called my classmate in China just now, and was told that one of my best friends was imprisoned and eventually tortured to death simply because he practiced Falun Gong.

I am not a Falun Gong practitioner, and don't have much knowledge of Falun Gong. But I do know my best friend very well. He was a truly righteous and honest person. I really cannot understand and rationalize why China would even regard having a certain belief as illegal. I feel very sad about it. My beloved motherland, when can we have true freedom?

I feel very sorrowful, and don't know who I should talk to; therefore, I am writing to you. By the way, my classmate's name was Ji Sunghai, and he was a resident of Shuangyashan City in China's Heilongjiang Province. He was twenty-nine years old.

Finally, I would like to urge the tens of millions of overseas Falun Gong practitioners not to forget the Falun Gong practitioners in Mainland China. At this moment, many of them are being tortured and persecuted.
