To avoid further persecution, Ms. Sun left home and became homeless, and her husband divorced her. Recently, Ms. Sun has been arrested again.

In October 1999, Ms. Sun went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice the spiritual discipline and she was illegally detained and fined 5,000 yuan. The Hebei School of Urban-Rural Development also detained her for 9 days, and then later for 14 days. In December 1999, Ms. Sun was given an administrative demerit for no apparent reason. She was then transferred from her teaching job and stopped receiving subsidies.

After Ms. Sun regained her health, she left home and became homeless for three years to avoid further persecution. During this time, her husband was under a lot of pressure. He filed for a divorce and went through the court proceedings on his own.

In the middle of April 2003, the Section Chief of the school security section arrested Ms. Sun while she was walking on the street and she was taken to the Hebei Province Brainwashing Center.
