US Congressman John Lewis: The Persecution of Falun Gong Ought to be Condemned Worldwide

July 15, 2012 |

(Minghui.org) July 20, 2012, marks the 13th year of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. On the eve of July 20, many US Congressmen have written letters of support to Falun Gong practitioners, in solidarity with Falun Gong, calling for a global force to stand together and put an end to this persecution and injustice. Below is a letter from Congressman John Lewis of Georgia.

美国乔治亚州国会议员约翰•路易斯

John Lewis, Member of Congress

Congress of the United States

House of Representatives

Washington DC 20515

July 12, 2012

Greetings,

I appreciate your thoughtfulness in extending this kind invitation to speak at the Falun Dafa Association Rally on July 12, 2012. However, due to previously scheduled commitments, I will be unable to attend.

China's abuse of persons who exercise their freedoms of religion and speech is a moral outrage that ought to be condemned worldwide. Freedom of belief is a basic right of human beings and should be protected. I firmly support and defend the human rights of Falun Gong practitioners. Let us stand together, and put an end to this persecution and injustice.

Again, please accept my sincere regret that I cannot be with you. You have my best wishes for a successful event.

Sincerely,

John Lewis

Member of Congress
