(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Mingyun was an employee of the Shengli Oil Field. Her friends, family, and colleagues alike regarded her as a very kind person. She and her husband were arrested on May 13, 2005, for possessing Falun Gong informational materials. She then was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in prison in 2006. When she was released on November 19, 2012, she was very weak, and her hair had turned white even though she was only 51 years old. She died on February 11, 2013.
Ms. Wang's husband, Mr. Zhang Aiquan, was employed as a Class III police commissioner in the traffic police division of the Binhai Police Department. He was arrested in July 2000 for passing out Falun Gong informational materials. He was later sentenced to three years of forced labor and taken to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp. He was arrested again in 2005 with his wife and sentenced to eight years in prison. He was then taken to the Jinan Prison.
Ms. Wang was an employee of the Inspection Team at the Dongxin Oil Production Factory at Shengli Oil Field. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1995, and many of her illnesses, such as chronic headaches and back pain, disappeared shortly thereafter. She always worked hard and was recognized as an “outstanding worker” several times. She took good care of her parents and children, and she was always willing to help others.
Ms. Wang Mingyun
On the afternoon of May 13, 2005, officers from the Huantai County Police Department and the Binhai Police Department in Shandong Province arrested Mr. Zhang while he was on his way home from work. Police officers had been following him for many days, and plainclothes officers had been assigned to secretly observe his home. The officers confirmed that Falun Gong informational materials and copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party were in Mr. Zhang's car. At approximately 8:00 p.m. that same evening, about a dozen plainclothes officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Huantai County Police Department sneaked into Mr. Zhang's home, where they arrested Ms. Wang Mingyun and confiscated a brand-new laptop, a printer, a car, and other personal belongings.
After that, officers also arrested many other Falun Gong practitioners including Yu Desheng, Zheng Ruihuan, Liu Yinglan, Yang Jianjun, An Yuzhi, Zhong Siping, Chen Xinrong, He Boqing, You Yunsheng, Zhou Baoshun, and Liang Yu.
Officers at the Huantai County Police Department interrogated Ms. Wang and her husband under torturous means. Ms. Wang was tied to an iron chair and deprived of sleep and food. Seven days later, she was transferred to the Huantai County Detention Center.
On July 28, 2006, the Huantai County Court secretly announced several verdicts at the Huantai County Detention Center. Mr. Zhang was sentenced to an eight-year prison term and taken to the Jinan Prison. Ms. Wang was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in prison and taken to the Shandong Women's Prison.
Torture re-enactment: Iron chair
Ms. Wang was incarcerated at the No. 3 Ward in the Shandong Women's Prison. In an attempt to have her renounce Falun Gong, the guards held her in the “Intensive Training Ward,” where she was forced to stand for long periods of time and not allowed to go to sleep until 3:00 a.m. This kind of torture lasted for more than 40 days. Ms. Wang was insulted, cursed at, threatened, and beaten. She was neither allowed to buy daily necessities nor allowed family visitation.
Ms. Wang's health began to deteriorate significantly: Her teeth became loose; her blood pressure reached 200 mmHg; her hair turned white; lumps formed over her entire body. She was sent to the prison hospital several times, and the hospital authorities issued her a critical condition notice. Her family requested her release for medical parole, but the request was denied. During this time, the prison authorities called Ms. Wang's family several times to demand money for her medical treatment.
Ms. Wang was released on November 19, 2012, after finishing her prison term. She was very weak, her hair had turned white, and all of her teeth were loose. She died on February 11, 2013.
