Ms. Sun Guozhong Detained and Seven-Year Old Child Lost Mother's Care

February 14, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Hebei Province, China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Sun Guozhong is a Falun Gong practitioner from the Capitol Steel Company, Qian'an City, Hebei Province. Officers from the Haigang District Police Department in Qinghuangdao City broke into her home and arrested her at 10 p.m. on June 10, 2013. She has been detained in the First Detention Center in Qinghuangdao City for seven months. She has a seven-year-old son at home. Currently her severe anemia makes her very weak, however, the police still refuse to release her. Her family and friends are very worried about her physical condition.

It is difficult for one to imagine such a gentle lady suffering so much persecution since she was 30 years old. The past 14 years should have been the most enjoyable period of time in one's life, but her life was destroyed when the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999. Ms. Sun has never spent a single Chinese New Year with her family. She was forced to be homeless when she was seven-months pregnant, to avoid being persecuted. Her son has spent limited time with his mother, and he could barely recognize her whenever they met. It always took several days for him to get familiar with her again.

The long-term persecution, especially the homeless life, made Ms. Sun depressed. For a period of time, she was not even able to smile. With the help of fellow Falun Gong practitioners, smiles gradually came back to her face. However, she was arrested again after she had fully recovered.

Ms. Sun Persecuted for the Past 14 Years

During the 17 th Congressional Conference of the Chinese Communist Party in 2007, the police harassed Ms. Sun's parents and husband. Her husband Mr. Jin Dapeng was fired by his workplace after he came back from being in a labor camp. The couple had no income, but the police continued to harass them. Ms. Sun's family was not able to take care of her when she was seven months pregnant, because she was forced to be homeless to avoid persecution.

Ms. Sun was reported to the police when she was speaking to people about Falun Gong in a market on March 8, 2006. More than 10 officers took her to the Qian'an City Police Department, beat and shocked her with electric batons, and verbally abused her. After 15 days of detention, the police extorted 6,000 yuan from Ms. Sun's family for her release. However, when the family went to pick her up from the detention center, the police took her to the Qian'an Brainwashing Center for another round of persecution.

In the brainwashing center, Ms. Sun was forced to listen to recordings that slandered Falun Gong to pressure her to give up her belief. She was monitored even when she had meals. On April 8, 2006, Ms. Sun and another female practitioner escaped from the brainwashing center. She wandered around for more than a year to avoid further persecution.

Ms. Sun's Husband Relentlessly Persecuted

Ms. Sun and her husband Mr. Jin Dapeng were reported to the police by Liu Xintang and his wife from the local 610 office, when speaking to people about Falun Gong on April 21, 2004. The police ransacked Ms. Sun's home and detained her and her husband for 15 days in the Qian'an Police Department. On the ninth day, without any legal procedure, Ms. Sun was suddenly taken to the Kaiping Labor Camp in Tangshan City for one year of forced labor. After suffering a year of inhumane torture in the labor Camp, Ms. Sun was still constantly harassed at home by the neighborhood committee and her workplace, the Capital Steel Company.

Mr. Jin was detained for another 30 days after the 15 days of detention. The police then framed him and kept him in a brainwashing center for a week. After that, Mr. Jin was taken to the Hehuakeng Labor Camp in Tangshan City for three years of forced labor. In the labor camp, Mr. Jin suffered so much torture that his weight dropped from 230 lbs to 165 lbs. The labor camp did not allow his family to visit him and confiscated all the necessities and winter clothes that his family brought. When Mr. Jin's father was on the verge of death from an incurable disease in August 2005, the labor camp did not allow him to go home to see his father for the last time. Even after his father passed away in September, the labor camp still did not allow him to attend the funeral.

Background

Ms. Sun was first arrested in April 2000, when she was doing the Falun Gong exercises in a park at the Capitol Steel Company. She was reported to the police and detained for 15 days in the Qian'an City Detention Center. She was arrested again by officers Peng Minghui and Pu Yonglai from the Qian'an City Police Department in May 2001. She was detained for nine days in the Qian'an Detention Center, before her family got her released.

We hope the international society will pay attention to the case of Ms. Sun, and tell the Qinghuangdao City authorities not to be a scapegoat for the CCP. They should immediately release the 16 Falun Gong practitioners in the Qinghuangdao City Detention Center.
