Snapshot of Falun Gong Practitioners Whose Copies of Lawsuits Against Jiang Zemin Were Received by Minghui on September 15, 2015

(Minghui.org) Many Falun Gong practitioners are now exercising their legal right to sue Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong and causing them great harm and tremendous suffering during the past 16 years. The momentum of this new wave of lawsuits against the former Chinese dictator is on the rise.

The Minghui website receives copies of criminal complaints against Jiang from many practitioners daily. In this report, we present a snapshot of some of the practitioners whose copies of lawsuits were received by Minghui on September 15, 2015.

These lawsuits are mailed to the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate, which are required to process all criminal complaints filed by citizens, as of a recent ruling by the Supreme People's Court.

Brief Summary of Cases Featured in this Report

This report features three practitioners who were tortured to death. Their surviving family members hold Jiang responsible for their deaths.

An elderly father filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin on behalf of his daughter, who was tortured to death and cremated within minutes of her passing. The authorities refuse to provide information concerning her death to her family members.

A retired senior engineer, filed complaints against Jiang Zemin for the death of his wife. His wife was beaten to death within 11 days of her arrest.

A retired teacher died within 20 days of his arrest, with the autopsy report stating that he had liver, kidney and heart failure, as well as internal injuries. Although he died in prison, officials claimed in a document that he died at home.

Case 1: Ms. Huang Lisha (黄丽莎)

Key FactsMs. Huang Lisha was born on January 22, 1968. She began to practice Falun Gong in 1996.

After she went to Beijing twice and the provincial government once to appeal for justice for Falun Gong, her workplace officials suspended her income twice and later terminated her job. They demanded that she give up her belief, monitored her, and reported her to the 610 Office and local police. After they found out that she was persecuted to death, they refused to notify her family.

She was detained twice by the Emei Police Department and taken to the Zizhongnanbusi Forced Labor Camp for one year in June of 2000. After she was released, her workplace was assigned to monitor her.

Her workplace officials demanded that she give up her belief on July 8, 2002 or be held at her former workplace and watched around the clock. She escaped and lived away from home to avoid further persecution.

She was arrested on August 22, 2002 and held in the Pi County Detention Center in Chengdu. She went on a hunger strike the next day. In September, she was transferred to the Qingyang District Hospital, where she was force-fed and injected with unknown drugs.

Ms. Huang was tortured to death on October 17, 2015 and cremated within minutes. The authorities refused to notify her family members; they only learned of her death from the Minghui website.

Case 2: Mr. Yang Zhanming and Ms. Wu Yao

After the communist government began to suppress Falun Gong in 1999, the couple wrote an appeal letter for their right to practice Falun Gong to the central government and then-President Jiang Zemin, which they hand delivered to the State Council Appeals Office in Beijing on February 12, 2000.

Mr. Yang was arrested and detained until March 18, 2000. Ms. Wu was arrested several days later and detained.

Mr. Yang retired from the Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics in February 2000. His workplace cut his pension and later denied the entire pension in April 2000.

He was taken to a brainwashing center in April 2000 and April 2002, where he was tortured and deprived of sleep.

Ms. Wu Yao went on a hunger strike at the end of April 2002. She was in critical condition and released on medical parole.

The couple was arrested on September 9, 2002 for distributing information about the persecution of Falun Gong. After a month in detention, both were sentenced to two years of forced labor.

They failed a physical examination and were not admitted by Tuanhe Labor Camp in October and December. They were again taken to the labor camp on June 11, 2003 and held in the camp's dispatch division. Mr. Yang was taken to the hospital that afternoon.

Ms. Wu died on June 22, 2003. Her body was covered with bruises. Her death was the 755th death reported by the Minghui website.

Mr. Yang was released from the Tuanhe Labor Camp on medical parole in November 2003. He was arrested several days later and held in the Fengtai Detention Center for nine months, where he was tortured.

Current CircumstancesMr. Yang Zhanming is currently free.

Case 3: Mr. Qi Tingsong

Key FactsMr. Qi Tingsong began to practice Falun Gong in 1997. He was later held in Zipo Labor Camp for six months for his belief.

Mr. Qi Tingsong

He was arrested on December 20, 2006, interrogated, and released.

Mr. Qi was against arrested on October 15, 2007 and taken to the Laiwu Labor Camp. Mr. Qi Tingsong passed away on November 11, 2007, 20 days after his arrest. His body was covered in bruises.

The autopsy report from November 5, 2007 indicated liver, kidney, and heart failure, internal organ injury, and gastrointestinal bleeding.

Mr. Qi's death case was the 3070th death reported by the Minghui website.

When Mr. Qi's family hired a lawyer for the wrongful death, the lawyer was harassed and threatened by the 610 Office and police in Shandong Province. The authorities fabricated documents claiming that Mr. Qi was released on medical parole with his family's consent; he actually died in custody.

Case 4: Practitioner (刘旺泉)

Key FactsMr. Liu Wangquan is a retired veteran. He began to practice Falun Gong in 1997. He was imprisoned twice, for three years in March 2000 and eight years in December 2011.

Because Mr. Liu refused to be “transformed”, or made to renounce Falun Gong, he deprived of sleep, forced to stand all night long, stand in the hot sun in summer,and stay outside during the winter. He was monitored and beaten by inmates. He was also made to perform slave labor.

Mr. Liu was fired by the Industry and Commerce Business Administration Bureau in May of 2000.

The 610 Office has continued to harass Mr. Liu since his release. He was arrested on July 5, 2014, and his home was ransacked by police.

His wife, Ms. Liu Jiangping was arrested and is still detained at the Neijiang Detention Center. She was tried, but has not been sentenced.

Current CircumstancesMr. Liu Wangquan is free, but faces harassment by the authorities. Ms. Liu Jiangping is still held in the Neijiang Detention Center.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
