Yunnan Woman Detained for Her Faith, Son Writes Letter Pleading for Her Release

February 14, 2017 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Yunnan Province, China

(Minghui.org) A Jinning County resident was arrested three days before the Chinese New Year for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime. This is the second time that Ms. Liu Yaqin has been arrested for her faith.

While Ms. Liu remains captive at Bailongsi Detention Center following her arrest on January 25, 2017, her son, who goes to middle school, wrote a letter to Jinning County police pleading for her release.

Below is an excerpt from Wan Chaowei’s letter:

“Mom, tomorrow is the Chinese New Year. How I want you to be by my side and wake me up! I promise I will never be naughty again.

I am alone tonight. The sound of firecrackers outside reminded me of the past: I went to sleep after your repeated reminders and woke up to hot steamed buns in the morning.

The bowl where you put the steamed buns is still there on the table, but you’re not here. I can’t help but shed tears!”
