Ms. Zou from Chongqing Sent Back to Prison for Talking to People about Falun Dafa

(Minghui.org) Ms. Zou Hualan, a 67-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner from Chongqing City, was tried by the Tongzi County Court in Guizhou Province on October 18, 2018. She was sentenced to two years in prison on November 9, 2018.

Ms. Zou had traveled to Lejing Village in Tongzi County on July 6, 2017, to take a vacation. She talked to people about the persecution of Falun Dafa that day. The following day, she went to Huaqiu Town. She was later reported by the daughter-in-law of the director of Lejing Village.

On July 7, 2017, seven police officers came to her hotel to search her room, claiming that they needed to check her ID. When they found some materials about Falun Dafa, they took Ms. Zou to the police station. She was sent to the Zunyi City No. 2 Detention Center the next day.

The procuratorate approved her arrest on August 8, 2017. Her attorney from Beijing went to the court on December 5, 2017, but court officials delayed the hearing. The court delayed the hearing twice. 

During the trial on October 18, 2018, her attorney defended her innocence. Ms. Zou was sentenced to two years in prison on November 9, 2018.

Background

Ms. Zou is a retired employee of the Changshou Agricultural Machinery Company in Chongqing. After she began practicing Falun Dafa, she conducted herself according to Dafa's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The chronic diseases that had plagued her for many years disappeared.

In July 1999, the former Communist Party head launched the persecution against Dafa. Despite the intense pressure, Ms. Zou refused to give up her belief and spoke up for Falun Dafa. Over the course of the ongoing persecution, she has been sent to labor camps three times and jailed for one year and nine months.
