Taiwan: President and Nearly 100 Elected Officials Welcome Shen Yun Tour

(Minghui.org) Shen Yun Performing Arts will perform 34 shows in seven cities in Taiwan from February 22 to March 28, 2018. President Tsai Ing-wen of the Republic of China, Premier William Lai, and nearly 100 other elected officials sent welcome messages and letters to the New York-based classical Chinese dance company.

Taiwanese officials sent letters to welcome Shen Yun Performing Arts ahead of its 34-show tour of Taiwan.

This year will be Shen Yun’s twelfth tour in Taiwan. The officials commended the classical Chinese dance company for its performances and its mission to revive traditional Chinese culture.

Those who sent letters include 12 central governmental officials, including President Tsai Ing-wen, Premier William Lai, and Acting President Wu Jin-lin of the Examination Yuan; 18 local governmental leaders, including Mayor Eric Chu of New Taipei City; 64 legislators and two local council members.

Ministries Offer Warm Welcome

President Tsai Ing-wen wrote the Chinese characters “Elegant show spreads far” in recognition of Shen Yun's widespread acclaim. Premier Willaim Lai and Secretary-General to the President Joseph Wu wished the show a successful performance. Acting President Wu Jin-lin of the Examination Yuan, who has sent a message every year, wrote in honor of “Shen Yun culture.”

Lin Jeng-yi, Director of the National Palace Museum, wrote, “Shen Yun Performing Arts combines Eastern and Western musical instruments in a live symphony orchestra, has eye-catching animated backdrops, and revives the elegant traditional Chinese dance. The awesome show is highly anticipated.”

Local Leaders Welcome Shen Yun

The mayors of the seven cities where Shen Yun is scheduled to perform gave a warm welcome.

Mayor Eric Chu of New Taipei wished Shen Yun success in its performances. Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan of Taoyuan commended Shen Yun’s spreading of grand arts. Acting Mayor Lee Meng-yan of Tainan wrote that its divine dancing is “beautiful and blessed.”

Mayor Lin Chia-lung of Taichung said, “Shen Yun has toured across the world and performed in top-level theaters in hundreds of cities for 12 years. Shen Yun combines the arts of the East and the West. The 2018 show not only brings an exciting theater experience to the local people but also enriches the culture of Taichung with the superb performance.”
