(Minghui.org) During the past two years, I felt that my cultivation had entered a new stage from participating in various truth-clarification projects.
As I lacked the ability to clarify the facts about Falun Dafa (also called Falun Gong) face to face, I distributed the Epoch Times newspaper. I felt embarrassed at first and worried that people would not accept them. Then, I saw other practitioners actively handing the newspaper to people, so I did the same, and many accepted the papers.
While distributing the papers, I noticed that I had some bad thoughts about certain person when they walked toward me. For example, I would think, “He dresses very strangely and doesn’t look like a good person. He probably won’t take the newspaper.” I realized that these thoughts were wrong. How could I give Dafa to someone if I had a biased preconception about the person?
I said to Master in my mind, “Master, these bad thoughts are not me. I do not want them.” Because of constantly sending forth righteous thoughts and cultivating diligently, these bad thoughts began to disappear.
Sometimes, I would encounter someone cursing at me or saying bad things, and I would try to stay calm and not be moved. There are also many people who have already learned about the persecution, and they encouraged me.
When fewer people accepted the paper, I would send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the factors in other dimensions that were blocking sentient beings from accepting the papers. All these situations I encounter are good opportunities for me to improve my xinxing.
We held a meeting on a beach on July 21 to mark the 20th year of the persecution. I distributed materials at the boardwalk, but I recalled past experience that not many people there accepted fliers. What should I do?
Master opened up my wisdom, and suddenly I realized that people didn’t take fliers because they could not figure out what we were doing within the couple of seconds when they passed by, and they thought the fliers were advertising.
Therefore, I asked a tall practitioner to go with me to the boardwalk. We set up a poster board about stopping the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from killing Falun Dafa practitioners for organs. I asked the practitioner to hold the board above his head so people could see it from farther away. Looking at the crowds, I thought, “Sentient beings, please don’t miss this previous opportunity!” It was surprisingly effective, and I soon ran out of fliers. Another practitioner replenished my stock.
Many people’s reactions touched me. A Westerner gave me thumbs up and said, “Keep it up! I’ve supported you in New York and Washington, D.C. Some people there were bribed by the CCP. They tried to create a disturbance, and I yelled at them and stopped them.”
Two Westerners asked us, “Other than reading the flier, what else can I do to help you?” I told them, “You can spread this information to your families and friends and talk to your Congressional representatives. You can also sign the petition.” Some Chinese people also asked for fliers.
We were there for almost two hours, and the practitioner held the display board high above his head the entire time.
My family bought a house, and we had some rooms to rent out to tourists and travelers from throughout the world. We believe that all the people who stay at our place are predestined to learn about Dafa.
We always pay close attention to our words and actions when having renters, as we know that we are representatives of Dafa and should follow Dafa’s requirements. We usually provide guests with a good and free dinner so that we can clarify the facts to them. The majority of our guests were able to understand the facts.
Once a young man from China rented a room. He had been deeply deceived by the CCP’s lies and had a negative impression of Dafa. We treated him as our friend and took great care of him. We often invited him to have dinner with us and then clarified the facts in great detail. Every day he called his mother and told her whatever we told him.
He told us that his mother worked as a street residency director at a place where persecution was very severe, and part of her job was to monitor Dafa practitioners. On Chinese New Year’s Eve, we prepared a delicious dinner to enjoy with him, and he was very moved. He called his mother, who repeatedly thanked us for taking care of her son. My wife clarified the facts to her, and both mother and son agreed to quit the CCP and its youth organizations. His mother also said that going forward, she would treat Dafa practitioners kindly. When he left, he asked us for a lot of informational materials about Dafa in electronic form.
Another guest from China was a bit timid and would not quit the CCP after we talked to him about Dafa. We took him to the Independence Day Parade the next day, and he changed his mind after he watched the Dafa practitioners perform in the parade. He also quit the CCP.
A man from Britain stayed for several weeks. My wife often invited him for dinner. We talked to him about our sufferings when we were in China, where we were persecuted severely for our belief. My wife was arrested multiple times, was tortured, and almost lost her life several times. After listening to our stories, he almost cried. He said, “How come the British government isn’t doing anything about such atrocities?” We told him that there could be financial interests involved. He said, “I understand now. I’ll tell my friends and family what I heard.” He told my wife, “You are the most courageous and the kindest person I have ever met.” We have become good friends.
When he left, we bought him gifts and gave him the English language version of Zhuan Falun. From then on, he always stayed with us whenever he came to the United States. He also asked us to teach him the Dafa exercises, and we studied Zhuan Falun together. He eventually became a Dafa practitioner.
There is a Westerner who rents a room from us long-term. We told him about the persecution, and he was very sympathetic and understanding, and our relationship was very good. Later on we invited him to read Zhuan Falun, and we read Lecture One with him. But, when we asked him to read with us again, he would not do it anymore and used all kinds of excuses. We could not figure out why.
Then by chance we got to know that he was a homosexual. In Lecture One, Master said,
“Nowadays, some people are not only bent solely on profit, but they even go so far as committing all evils. They will do all kinds of evil things for money, and they will also commit murder, pay someone to kill, practice homosexuality, and abuse drugs. They do all kinds of things.” (Lecture One, Zhuan Falun)
We tried to clarify the facts to him from different perspectives, but he was just indifferent. It seemed we could not open his heart. We even wanted to give up, but he had a predestined relationship with us. Just as we felt helpless, the Shen Yun show was performing in Los Angeles in April. We decided to buy him a ticket, and we brought him to watch the show. He changed completely afterwards. He was excited, said that Shen Yun was so great, and said he would watch it every year. When we had new guests in our home, he would tell them about the persecution and introduce Shen Yun to them.
We also encountered people who donated to the Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP after learning about the persecution.
I have lost many precious opportunities to help people learn about Dafa because I did not feel comfortable clarifying the facts face-to-face. I really wanted to be able to clarify the facts effectively, so I joined the global telephone rescue platform, which aims to clarify the facts to people with police departments, courts, and the procuratorate in China.
I was very nervous when I started. The fellow practitioner who was teaching me said that I could just try reading the script at first and that I would learn what to say after doing that a few times. So I made my first phone call, and a judge answered. Normally I couldn’t even clarify the facts to ordinary people, so one can imagine how I felt.
When I was connected, my heart almost stopped. I stuttered and started to read, “Hello, I just want to call and tell you that Falun Gong practitioners are all good people. Please don’t participate in any form of persecution against them.” I continued to read and talked about the current situation in China and the karmic retribution incurred by those who participated in persecution, many of whom have been imprisoned. I asked him to think about his own future.
I then talked about the Chinese Constitution, which guarantees citizens freedom of belief. It talked about how Jiang Zemin has been sued in over 30 countries for persecuting Falun Gong and how in China there have been over 200,000 people suing Jiang under their real names. I asked him not to carry out any orders related to the persecution so as not to become the CCP’s scapegoat.
I became more and more comfortable as I read on. The judge continued to listen for more than three minutes before hanging up. I called again, and he picked up. I continued to read, and he listened for two more minutes. The other practitioners said that my voice was very good and that I sounded very calm and compassionate. I discovered with my first phone call that it wasn’t as difficult as I had thought. It was only the initial mental obstacles, and then it became much easier.
After making phone calls for some days, I found that each time before making phone calls, I would feel as if a very heavy load was on top of my head, making me not want to make any calls. During the worst times, I would hesitate and hesitate for two hours and in the end not make any calls. I began to send forth righteous thoughts before making phone calls, but even so, my state only improved by a little bit.
I had once memorized Master’s article, “Dafa is Indestructible,” so I repeatedly recited the last paragraph:
“A Dafa disciple completely opposes everything arranged by the evil old forces. Clarify the truth thoroughly, eliminate the evil with righteous thoughts, save all beings, and safeguard the Fa with determination, because you are a part of Dafa, indestructible; rectify all that is not righteous. Those who are "reformed" and those who are being saved can only be beings who were deceived by the evil. Those who are being eliminated are the evil beings and the evil old forces. Those who are reaching Consummation through all this are Dafa disciples; and through all this Dafa’s mighty virtue is established.” (“Dafa is Indestructible” in Essentials for Further Advancement II)
I would continue to recite this paragraph when the phone was ringing and before the other side answered. Gradually Dafa’s power began to envelope me, and I became more and more righteous. I felt that the process of making these phone calls were so magnificent and sacred. Gradually, the load on top of my head became lighter and lighter, and eventually it disappeared. I am determined to continue to make phone calls and cultivate myself in this process.
