(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 48 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Fenglan’s Original Verdict Upheld Without a Hearing

Ms. Zhang Fenglan a retired teacher, was arrested on August 18, 2020. She was sentenced to three years and six months in prison and fined 15,000 yuan by the Yilan County Court on December 29. Ms. Zhang appealed to the Harbin City Intermediate Court. Her husband defended her, pleading not guilty.

The intermediate court filed Ms. Zhang’s appeal on March 30, 2021. On April 26, the intermediate court issued a ruling to uphold the original verdict of the first instance.

2. [Macheng City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zeng Jinhuan Arrested

Ms. Zeng Jinhuan was arrested at home by officers from the State Security Division, the 610 Office, and the Huangjinqiao Police Station on May 3, 2021. She was held in the Hong’an Detention Center.

In the past few months, Ms. Zeng’s family was harassed many times. Her Falun Dafa books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong were confiscated. In order to avoid further persecution, Ms. Zheng left her home. People watched her home and monitored her phone. She was arrested during the long holiday, starting on International Labor Day on May 1, as soon as she returned home.

3. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Gao Hongbin’s Case Brought to Court

Mr. Gao Hongbin from the Ranghulu District was arrested by officers from the Tieren Police Department in Sartu District on November 22, 2020. He was held in custody. His case was brought to the Ranghulu District Court.

4. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Director Jiang Xi of the Huanlu Community Management Office in Xiangyang District and residential officer Zhang Shulong from the Qiaonan Police Station went to Ms. Nie Fang’s home on November 21, 2020. They pressured her to sign the “three statements” renouncing her faith, but she refused.

Officer Gong Xingyi, from the Chang’an Police Station in Xiangyang District, called practitioner Deng Bin (gender unknown) on November 22, 2020, and pressured Deng to sign three statements.

On the same day, Gong also called the family of Wang Shiyong (gender unknown) and told Wang to go to the police station to sign the three statements. Gong also threatened, “I know where your child goes to school.”

5. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Lanzhi and Mr. Tai Chengzhi Harassed

Wearing plainclothes, officer Yuan Zhihuai from the Tangu Police Station and a Baifo Village Public Security Committee member broke into Ms. Zhang Lanzhi’s home on the morning of April 25, 2021. They asked for her and her daughter-in-law’s phone numbers. Ms. Zhang did not give them the numbers.

Yuan and a village security committee member knocked on the door of Mr. Tai Chengzhi’s home on the morning of May 8. Mr. Tai was not at home, but his daughter opened the door. Not finding Mr. Tai at home, the two people left.

6. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Ren Bingyu and Mr. Feng Huanxue Harassed

Five officers from the Jiayue Town Police Station, Zhucheng City, were led by village committee officials to the homes of Mr. Ren Bingyu and Mr. Feng Huanxue on April 27 and April 28, 2021. They told the two practitioners to fill out forms and write down their detailed personal information. Both practitioners refused.

7. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Peng Gaidi Arrested; Wang Manxin Harassed

Three male officers and two female officers from Zhoucun Township, Dingzhou City went to Ms. Peng Gaidi’s home in Futouzhuang Village and arrested her at noon on May 7, 2021. Ms. Peng was taken to the Dingzhou City Detention Center.

On May 7, Wu Haifeng, from Wujiazhuang Village, Haotouzhuang Township, Dingzhou City, led township personnel to Wang Manxin’s (gender unknown) home to harass Wang.

8. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Li Congjia Harassed

An officer from the Gaoying Police Station went to Li Congjia’s (gender unknown) home on May 1, 2021. When the officer tried to photograph Li, Li tried to stop him. The officer refused to listen and still held up the camera. Li blocked the lens with hand and reasoned with the officer. The officer promptly left.

9. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Zhang Ruijun Faces Trial

Zhang Ruijun (gender unknown) was scheduled to be tried on the morning of May 12.

10. [Wafangdian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Fang Arrested; Her Mother Harassed

Ms. Liu Fang from the Gangdian Sub-district refused to give up her belief in Falun Gong. She was reported to the police on May 7, 2021, by her husband Zhu Jiayi, who works as a security guard at the Wafangdian Bearing Factory. Ms. Liu was arrested by the Wafangdian Police Station that day.

Six or seven people from the Wafangdian City Police Department and the Xiyang Town Police Station went to the home of Ms. Liu’s mother Ms. Ni Cuixia in Sanduntai Village on May 8. They tried to arrest Ms. Ni, but her husband, Mr. Liu Junshan, stopped them.

11. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Wang Shouhao Placed Under Residential Surveillance

According to various sources, Wang Shouhao (gender unknown) is under house arrest. Surveillance cameras have been installed inside Wang’s home, and Wang cannot communicate with the outside world. It is believed that Wang has been placed under residential surveillance and that charges are being brought up against Wang.

12. [Tianjin] Ms. Wang Chunyan Harassed

An official from the Yangcun Town Political and Legal Affairs Committee, in the Wuqing District, and four other people from the town’s petition bureau and police station went to Ms. Wang Chunyan’s home in Gaocun Township around 11 a.m. in early April 2021.

They pressured Ms. Wang to write guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong, saying that they received orders to conduct the “zero-out” campaign. Ms. Wang tried to persuade them not to participate in the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong, but they refused to listen and talked harshly. Ms. Wang’s father was frightened.

Shortly after, the brigade Party secretary in the village asked Ms. Wang’s father to go to Ms. Wang’s workplace to produce a videotape, in which she was to make a statement saying she had quit practicing Falun Gong. The local police station and the brigade also sent people to Ms. Wang’s home to talk to her father, which put a lot of pressure on the family.

13. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Sufang and Ms. Hao Cunlan Harassed

Two officers from the Anjiabao Police Station led by Wang Yugang, an official from the Zhoujiazhuang Village, Anjiapu Township, Wanquan District, broke into Ms. Liu Sufang’s home around 5 p.m. on April 13, 2021. Ms. Liu was not at home. They asked her husband what his name was, where Ms. Liu went and why, and what their child’s name was. They also asked for his cell phone number. They left after taking notes of the information they had gathered.

Officers went to Ms. Hao Cunlan’s home and asked for her husband’s name. They also asked for her cell phone number, which she refused to provide. They asked whether she still practiced Falun Gong. They took notes and left.

14. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Harassed

Since April 18, 2021, most Falun Gong practitioners have been harassed to varying degrees during the “zero-out” campaign. Due to censorship and other factors that blocked the flow of information, it was recently learned that, in the downtown area, Ms. Zhang Guofeng (in her 80s), Ms. Wang (about 90), Ms. Xu (in her 60s), and Ms. Wang Yuzhen (in her 60s) were harassed.

Ms. Du Zengfang from the downtown area was arrested at the end of April for talking to people about Falun Gong at a farmers market. She was detained. Ms. Du’s husband was so frightened that he had a heart attack the following day. He was taken to the hospital and had to be attended. The Domestic Security Division officers temporarily released her on bail so that she could take care of her husband. The officers also threatened to put her under residential surveillance.

15. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Nineteen Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Chen Xiaohong, a teacher at the Shengli Oilfield No. 23 Middle School, was arrested by Dongying City Domestic Security officers on April 23, 2021. Her family still does not know where she is being held.

Ms. Guo Hongyan was arrested, and her family does not know where she is held.

It is now confirmed that 19 practitioners were arrested in late April. Nine were in the Dongying District, seven practitioners (including Ms. Wang Yanyun) were in Lijin County, and three (including Ms. Li Xuerong) were in the Shengbei area.

Of the 19 practitioners, the three from the Shengbei area have been released. Liu and Liu’s daughter from the Xinghe area, Dongying District, have also been released.

Thirteen practitioners remain in custody, including all seven practitioners from Lijin County, plus Guo Hongyan, Zhou Deyong, He Baiqing, Meng Yu, Meng Fanyun, and Ms. Chen Xiaohong.

One practitioner was released on bail.

16. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhang Qingtao Arrested

Among the practitioners arrested en masse in Pulandian District on July 11, 2020, several practitioners are still being harassed.

At the end of April, Mr. Zhang Qingtao, the owner of a lamb soup restaurant, returned home after being extorted out of tens of thousands of yuan. The Pulandian Court was to participate in the prosecution of his mother, who stayed away from home to avoid persecution for her faith.
