Salon Owner Sentenced to Prison, Husband Not Allowed to Visit Her

July 26, 2022 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Hunan Province, China

(Minghui.org) A Changsha City, Hunan Province resident was recently sentenced to two years, eight months after she was arrested for practicing Falun Gong.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Deng Qinghui, a 54-year-old owner of a hair salon, was arrested at home on May 13, 2021. As she refused to go with the police, they carried her to the police car and took her to the Changsha City Detention Center.

After eight months of detention, she was sentenced to two years and has been taken to Hunan Province Women’s Prison.

Ms. Deng’s arrest dealt a heavy blow to her husband, who ended up being hospitalized twice in the past year. Meanwhile, the authorities haven’t allowed him to see his wife once, but ordered him to record a video to persuade her to renounce Falun Gong.

Prior to her latest arrest and sentencing, Ms. Deng has been repeatedly harassed by the authorities for her faith. Many of her customers condemned the authorities for sentencing such a kind person to prison.
