(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 21 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Huang Zhisong and Mr. Jiang Xiagen were scheduled to be tried at 9 a.m. on February 24, 2023, at the No. 7 Tribunal of the Taihu County Court.
Ms. Wang Min, 70, a university professor, was taken away by officers from the Changjiu Road Police Station in December, 2022, and released that evening. Officers from the Changjiu Road Police Station returned to Ms. Wang’s home on February 13, 2023 and took her away. Her whereabouts are unknown.
Mr. Lei Yangfan and his wife Ms. Tang Min were arrested on February 12, 2023 by officers from the Wenyi Road Police Station. They are being held in the Changsha No. 1 Detention Center and the Changsha No. 4 Detention Center.
Ms. Liu Dongmei was recently arrested by officers from the Suifenhe City Police Department. She was followed for over a month prior to the arrest.
About 15 officers, who came in six or seven police vehicles, forced their way into Ms. Guan’s home on February 15, 2023 and arrested five practitioners who were reading Falun Gong books. They also seized a computer and informational materials about Falun Gong. Ms. Chu, 85 years old and among those arrested, was brought home after midnight that day. There is no further information about the other four practitioners.
Su Congduo, a prosecutor from the Dongzhou Procuratorate, called Ms. Wei Shaomin’s family on February 14, 2023, asking Ms. Wei, 81, to go to the Procuratorate on February 16.
Ms. Fu Jinfeng was reported to police for speaking about Falun Gong on October 17, 2021, and was consequently arrested by officers from the Jiaoqiao Police Station. She was later sentenced to 16 months in prison by the Xihu District Court. Ms. Fu was released from the Nanchang City No. 1 Detention Center on February 16, 2023.
Ms. Zhao Ping, Ms. Hu Jinfeng, Mr. Wu Zhiming, Ms. Chen Yuying, Ms. An Xiurong, and Ms. Wang Runrong were arrested in late July 2022. They have since been held in the Shunyi District Detention Center, where some of them were interrogated, threatened, and handcuffed. The case against them was filed with the Shunyi District Court earlier this year.
Ms. Zhang Xiangling was reported to police while she was distributing informational materials about Falun Gong at the Wangtuan Town Grand Market on February 12, 2023. Two officers took her to the Wangtuan Police Station, searched her, and seized a few brochures. Ms. Zhang did not cooperate with their unreasonable demands. Her daughter brought her home around 5 p.m. that day.
Ms. Yang Aiqin was sentenced to six years and six months in prison. Her term is now over and she returned home in January 2023.
