(Minghui.org) Two residents of Yimei District, Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province, are set to stand trial on July 18, 2025 because they practice Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Ms. Guo Yuying, 81, and Ms. Liu Xinglan were arrested on February 26, 2025, while distributing Falun Gong informational materials. They have since been held at the Yichun City Detention Center. Their families hired lawyers to enter not guilty pleas for them.
While Minghui.org confirmed their court date of July 18, 2025, other details of their cases remain to be investigated, including which police agencies arrested them, which procuratorate indicted them, and which court is set to try them.
Both women were previously jailed for their faith. They were arrested on April 26, 2020, by officer Wang Guowei from the Yimei District Domestic Security Division. Chief prosecutor Yang Xuezhe of the Yimei District Procuratorate approved formal arrest warrants for Ms. Guo and Ms. Liu, and prosecutor Li Guoliang indicted them.
They were tried at the Yimei District Court on October 27, 2020. Judges Wei Liping and Chen Lili convicted them in December 2020, sentencing Ms. Guo to two years and Ms. Liu to one and a half years. They were both incarcerated at the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison.
Ms. Liu was released in September 2021 and Ms. Guo on April 25, 2022.
