(Minghui.org) Minghui.org previously reported on the arrests of over ten Falun Gong practitioners in Laishui County, Hebei Province, since August 2026. This report presents the latest updates.
Mr. Zhang Xiuqi, 79, was arrested at home around midnight on August 4. His daughter and son-in-law, neither of whom practices Falun Gong, were also seized and taken into custody. The three family members remain detained.
Ms. Liu Jinying was arrested in August 2026 and remains at the Baoding City Detention Center. Her family hired a lawyer for her.
Mr. Zhang Lianguang was arrested at home at around 11 a.m. on September 2. The police confiscated a large amount of cash and other valuables. He remains at the Laishui County Detention Center.
Mr. Zhang Dongsheng, (Ms. Liu’s husband) was arrested with her. He was released on bail from the Laishui County Detention Center due to health reasons.
Ms. Chen Chenglan was arrested on August 28 and released two days later.
Ms. Zhang Jianru was arrested on August 28 and was recently released.
Ms. Wang Wenling, 73 and who lives alone, was arrested around 8 p.m. on August 6. She experienced chest tightness, shortness of breath, and vomiting around midnight. She was then released. The police arrested her again on September 2 but had to release her the next day after a physical exam indicated she was unfit for detention.
Ms. Li Xiuqin was arrested on September 2 and released under house arrest the next day after a physical exam indicated she was unfit for detention.
Mr. Li Chunhui was arrested on September 2. His cell phone and computer were confiscated. The police released him the next day after he was deemed unfit for detention.
Ms. Liu Huilan was arrested on September 5 and she was recently released.
Ms. Yu Shuyun and Ms. Ma Fengling were arrested on September 8 and they were recently released.
Mr. Yan Haidong had his home raided on September 8. He managed to escape during the police raid.
Mr. Zhang Hongshu was arrested on September 9, by eight people from the Shiting Police Station and the Shiting Town Government. They raided his home and interrogated him at the police station. He was released on bail that afternoon.
Mr. Yu Zhengang was arrested on the morning of September 12 and had his home raided. He was put in the Laishui Lockup that afternoon and has since remained there.
Mr. Zhang Changsheng was arrested on August 28. It is unclear whether he has been released. He previously served a ten-year prison term for his faith.
At least twelve other Laishui practitioners were harassed in September 2026, including Ms. Cheng Yuzhi, Ms. Xing Wenyan, Ms. Lu Xiulan, Mr. Liu Xiuhe, Ms. Yang Lanying, Ms. Yu Xiuhong, Ms. Su Xiuying, Ms. Han Jianxia, Ms. Yan Qinghua, Mr. Xu Jianhua, Ms. Liu Yumin, and Mr. Wu Dianhua.
