On July 20, 1999, the then-General Secretary of the CCP, Jiang Zemin, perceived the spiritual practice as a threat to its doctrine of atheism and launched an unprecedented persecutory campaign to eradicate Falun Gong. Unfortunately, the persecution continues to this day; and

“NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Suffolk County Legislator Steven J. Flotteron representing Legislative District Eleven, is proud and honored to present this proclamation marking the Annual World Falun Dafa Day and hereby extend best wishes to their practitioners of this ancient meditation practice.”
