Falun Gong Practitioners in Spain Call to End the 27-Year Persecution

July 30, 2026 |   By a Falun Gong practitioner in Madrid, Spain

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners held a rally in front of the Chinese Embassy in Spain on July 17, 2026, to mark 27 years of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution. Many locals and tourists expressed their support for an end to the persecution.

Falun Gong practitioners displayed banners that read “Stop Persecution of Falun Gong in China,” “Halt the CCP’s Organ Harvesting Activities,” and “Falun Dafa Is Practiced Worldwide.” They also had display boards with information about Falun Dafa and explaining why they were appealing to end the persecution.

The practitioners demonstrated the five Falun Gong exercises during the event, attracting fascinated passersby who stopped to learn more. Drivers slowed their vehicles as they passed, with some honking their horns or giving a thumbs-up in support. Patrolling police officers voluntarily paused to learn about the persecution from practitioners, and expressed their sympathy and support.

During the rally, Falun Gong practitioners, speaking in both Spanish and Chinese, described the CCP’s 27-year persecution of Falun Gong, and called on the international community to jointly stop these human rights disasters. On July 20, 1999, Chinese Falun Gong practitioners, numbering in the tens of thousands, were abruptly plunged into a brutal countrywide persecution.

Countless families were torn apart, and many practitioners lost their freedom and even their lives. As of June this year, unofficial records place the death toll at 5,359 victims, while countless others have disappeared without a trace, their fate unknown. Many persecution victims regained their freedom and dignity after escaping China by immigrating to Spain.

Practitioners also explained that the CCP’s persecution goes beyond its national borders. Chinese embassies and consulates continue to target those overseas who persist in their faith, by illegally monitoring or collecting personal information about overseas practitioners. This information is used to threaten, harass, and intimidate practitioners’ parents and relatives in China.

A Falun Dafa practitioner speaking at the rally said, “May all those who persist in their faith amid suffering be rewarded with a bright future. May those who have participated in the persecution eventually heed their conscience, even if it be in their final moments.”

Mr. Wu appealed for the immediate release of his father, Falun Gong practitioner Wu Yuxun, who is currently illegally detained in China. Mr. Wu is originally from Xianning in Hubei, China, Over the years, his 72-year-old father had been detained and his home has been illegally searched five times. He was sentenced to two years of forced labor and two sessions in brainwashing centers. The local police extorted 4,560 yuan ($673) in cash from him and had his social security payments suspended because of his refusal to renounce Falun Gong. Wu Yuxun was sentenced to three years imprisonment by the local court on December 8, 2023, for practicing Falun Gong, and remains detained in Shayang Fanjiatai Prison in Jingmen City, Hubei Province.

Mr. Wu said, “The CCP’s brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners has brought much pain to their families. Forced apart against their will, many families are plagued with worry over the safety of their loved ones. While the air of freedom in Spain and many Western countries is sweet, this freedom has yet to reach China. While the sunshine of democracy is warm, it cannot soothe the pain in our hearts. We hope the righteous powers in the world will join forces to end the tyranny of the CCP, returning freedom to practitioners and happiness to their families.”

Urging Intervention From the International Community to Help Victims of the Persecution

Ms. Fátima at the rally (Minghui.org)

Madrid resident Fátima read the display boards as she passed by the rally.

“I just read about organ harvesting. This is utterly barbaric. It’s not just a crime, it’s genocide!” she said. “We humans are rational beings, not animals. Even animals are protected under the law, let alone humans. A government that harvests organs from its own people for economic gain is committing terrorism.”

Fátima said that the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners, who believe in the values of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, only reflects the Party’s denial of freedom of speech and twisted nature.

Fátima also appealed to the current CCP leadership, “Stop this inhumane act! This is absolutely unacceptable. This genocide must end immediately!”

She said she wanted to share information about the persecution on social media to let more people know about this catastrophe. Fátima expressed her respect and support for the peacefully petitioning Falun Gong practitioners onsite, encouraging them to persevere.

Madrid resident Beatriz expressed horror and shock after learning about the detention and persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, simply for upholding their peaceful beliefs. After learning about the large amount of evidence accumulated about the extent of the persecution, she said, “The International Court of Justice should make a ruling on this and conduct a thorough investigation into what is happening.”

Beatriz called upon the international community to take effective measures in aid of these innocent victims in China.

Efforts to Raise Public Awareness Deserve Recognition and Support

Mr. Isidoro thought about why a regime would persecute people who followed the virtues of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and then said, “No logic can explain this. This can only be attributed to the extreme greed of those in power.

“In their attempts to establish absolute power, they forcefully promote a ‘single ideology’ and deny citizens their right to freedom of expression and thought. There is no justification for such evil.”

Mr. Isidoro said that human society should coexist like nature, through mutual assistance and adherence to basic morality. Depriving people of their right to freedom, and even engaging in forced organ harvesting, seriously violates the most fundamental of human values. He said breaking down information blockades and making the truth widely known is key to exposing this evil.

Isidoro also spoke about his understanding of Falun Gong, “The ideals the practice strives to achieve are very beautiful, embodying a conformity to nature and promoting a harmonious coexistence among people.”

He encouraged practitioners to continue their activities, “All efforts to resist evil and promote awareness of wrongdoings are always worthy of public recognition and support,” he said.

Raising Awareness to Help Humanity

Ms. Ámparo at the rally (Minghui.org)

Ms. Ámparo expressed her respect, support, and gratitude for Falun Gong practitioners, “Don’t lose hope. Please steadfastly continue toward your goal. What you are doing is not just for yourselves, but for all humanity.”

Ms. Ámparo suggested that a regime that suppresses people who follow the values of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance has serious issues. “Because the CCP wants to turn its people into slaves. The more ignorant and less knowledgeable people are, the easier they are to manipulate. Your work in spreading the truth is important, as it allows more people and international governments to recognize the evil of the CCP,” she said.

María del Castillo was drawn to the peaceful rally while taking a walk with her granddaughter when she saw the rally.

“For such a thing to happen in the 21st century, it’s unbelievable,” she said. “Any philosophy or idea different from what the CCP demands is considered an enemy by the CCP and targeted for eradication. Because these beautiful values are in stark contrast to the ugliness of the CCP’s values.”

Ms. del Castillo called the CCP’s organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners unimaginable and unacceptable in today’s society, and praised practitioners’ efforts to expose the persecution through peaceful petitions.

“Although reversing this situation is very difficult, there is hope as long as we take it one step at a time. Good luck and please keep going!” she said.
