67-Year-Old Liaoning Woman Recounts Prison Abuse After Completing a 4-Year Term for Her Faith in Falun Gong

Sept. 13, 2026 |   By a Falun Gong practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) Minghui.org previously reported on the four-year prison sentence of a 67-year-old woman in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, for her faith in Falun Gong. Ms. Wang Jinfeng’s term ended on February 18, 2026, but the Liaoning Province Second Women’s Prison didn’t issue her release certificate as required by law because she refused to renounce Falun Gong.

Additionally, the prison dispatched Sun Lele and Shi Wanzhu, both officials from the tenth division, to escort Ms. Wang back to the Xiaochengzi Town Police Station in Kangping County, the place of her household registration. The police station had offered to have someone drive up to the prison to hand-over signed paperwork so her family could pick her up straight from the prison. The prison objected.

The ride took over two hours, and they finally arrived at the police station at around 11 a.m. A woman officer ordered Ms. Wang to sign a statement renouncing Falun Gong. She refused to comply. Her family, who had followed the prison vehicle to the police station, signed on her behalf because they were eager to take her back home.

Ms. Wang returned home to learn that her husband and mother had died months apart between late 2024 and early 2025.

Ms. Wang’s ordeal stemmed from her arrest on February 18, 2022. She was sentenced to a four-year prison term on September 19 of that year, and admitted to the Liaoning Province Second Women’s Prison March 30, 2023. Below is her personal account of the abuse she was subjected to while imprisoned.

Admitted to Prison Despite High Blood Pressure

I was transferred to the Liaoning Province Second Women’s Prison on March 30, 2023. The in-house Xinkang Hospital measured my blood pressure twice, and I saw that the systolic pressure readings were 182 and 179 mmHg. Other health indicators were also abnormal.

The prison guards ordered me to sign a waiver to relieve the prison of liability should anything happen to me, because I indicated I would not take any medication. I refused to sign the waiver, and guard Han Wanming from the Shenyang City First Detention Center signed my name without my consent. I was then officially admitted to prison.

I was put in the second division for newly-admitted inmates after going through the admission process. The next day, the guards ordered the over 100 new inmates to kneel on one leg and recite prison rules. I refused to comply and was taken to an office.

Three inmates, one of them named Xu Mengmeng, were summoned to the office to abuse me. They held me down and removed my socks to shove into my mouth. I immediately felt suffocated. The guards kept complaining about me for being disobedient.

About half an hour later, the guards instructed the inmates to take the socks out of my mouth, and I was taken to my cell. For the next two days, I was not allowed to use the restroom. My belly was extremely bloated, and I skipped four meals. The team lead thought I was on a hunger strike, but later allowed me to use the restroom when I explained how I was forced to hold my urine.

On the fifth night after my prison admission, I refused to fill out a questionnaire filled with questions slandering Falun Gong.

15+ Hours of Forced Standing Per Day for Over a Year

Instructor Chu Jiajia transferred me to team four in the tenth division on April 6, 2023. Team lead Li Xiaoyi, who had been waiting for me in the office, ordered me to squat and recite the prison rules. I said no. Chu and Li pushed me down and ordered me to write a statement to renounce Falun Gong. I remained firm in my faith. Li put a pen in my hand but failed to make me submit even after half an hour.

I was then made to do hard labor that day. After that, team lead Yong Yi instructed inmate Li Hui to take me to the guards’ office, where I was forced to stand until 9:30 p.m. After I was brought back to my cell, I was not given any dinner or allowed to wash myself or use the restroom. The next day, I was forced to stand again and not allowed to use the restroom.

The same routine happened every day for over one year. The long-term standing (over 15 hours per day) caused extreme swelling in my legs and ankles. I often felt pain and numbness, and struggled to walk.

I was summoned to the workshop office at 6 a.m. on April 7, 2023. Team lead Li Xiaoyi and section chief Lu Wei ordered me to squat and recite the prison rules. I refused to comply, and Lu pushed me down, causing my head to hit the brick floor. Lu ordered me to get up. She pinched me with her long nails, causing excruciating pain. She eventually yanked me up and threw my mask into the trash can. She kept asking me to write a statement to renounce Falun Gong. I said no, and she ordered me to get out of her office.

Long-term Starvation and not Allowed to Purchase Daily Necessities for Nearly Two Years

For a long time I was not given much to eat. Sometimes there were only a few grains of rice in my bowl. The egg given to me was always taken by inmate Li Hui.

At around 8 p.m. on July 19, 2023, team lead Cheng Xi pointed at me and yelled, “Only give her half of the dinner portion!” I protested against the persecution of me, and she instructed inmates Li Hui, Li Lihua, Wang Ying, and Wang Xiaoxi to drag me to her office. They ripped off three buttons on my shirt, and many large purple blisters appeared on the insides of my arms.

Another time Li Hui repeatedly pulled me off the stool and dragged me along the floor all the way to the lobby. Many guards saw this, but none of them did anything about it, including the prison warden and section chief. Because I refused to put the bedside card and inventory list on the wall, Li put them up on my bed. I tore them down, and she hit me. Team lead Yong Yi cursed at me.

For nearly two years, I was also not allowed to purchase daily necessities. I finally agreed to have my name and prisoner ID taped to the back of my prisoner uniform on October 3, 2024. Only then was I allowed to buy daily necessities for up to 180 yuan each time. Lin Xue sometimes didn’t allow me to spend a penny.

Torture by Team Lead Cheng Xi

Several inmates dragged me to team lead Cheng Xi’s office one day. She taped my wrists together and attempted to hang me up by my wrists. But the tape loosened, and she gave up. She then taped my nose and mouth. I couldn’t breathe, and collapsed on the ground. She peeled off the tape and instructed inmate Wang Ying to pry open my eyes.

When I didn’t move, Cheng came to pry open my eyes. I came to, and she yanked me up and slapped me in the face repeatedly.

Cheng then stepped on my knees and the insides of my arms with her leather shoes. She also kicked me on the legs and pinched my arms with her fingernails for more than half an hour. I had bruises all over.

After the beatings, Cheng ordered that no food or other prisoner benefits be given to me. One inmate was sympathetic and asked another team lead for permission to give me something to eat. Upon learning of this, Cheng went into a rage and said that without her instruction, no one was to give me any more food. I was thus not given anything to eat for six straight days. After that, Cheng ordered me to watch videos slandering Falun Gong, and I firmly rejected.

The guards later ordered me to stand for long hours, and I said no. Team lead Yong Yi instructed inmate Li Hui and others to carry me to her office. I lay on the ground and refused to get up.

I refused to do hard labor on July 6, 2024, after which Cheng dragged me to her office. She scratched my arms with her sharp fingernails until I bled. I still have four visible scars to this day.

Prison Officials Turned a Blind Eye to My Abuse

On June 7, 2024, I refused to answer during roll call, as usual. Division head Meng Xiangyu ordered everyone to repeatedly do roll call to instigate their hatred toward me.

Inmate Pan Na cursed at me, and punched me on the face and head. She also slapped me in the face and yanked my hair. Meng saw everything but did nothing to stop Pan. Team lead Cheng and section chief Zhou simply took off. Another team lead, Heng Shuai, walked in laps. I questioned Meng and Heng as to why they didn’t punish Pan for beating me. They remained silent.

On November 8, 2025, inmate Li Xue hurled foul language at me while I was using the restroom in the workshop. After I was done, she suddenly punched me hard on the back. I condemned her, and she grabbed my collar and kicked a stool more than a meter away. She yelled, “Take the stool away, and I’ll get Wen Yuhan to beat you to death!”

I returned to the restroom to grab my water bottle left there. Inmate Wen came over and pinched my cheeks so hard that one of my molars was knocked out, and blood filled my mouth. While instructor Li Shuying was administering medication to an inmate, instead of stopping Wen, she yelled at me, “What are you doing?” I spat blood onto the ground, and she shouted again, “Who told you to spit on the ground?”

Wen later grabbed my collar and beat me again. Many inmates couldn’t stand it any longer, and intervened. Only then did she stop the violence. From then on, Lin Xue instigated Li Ziqi to have inmate Gong Yumei serve me food every day, giving me only a small amount each time, continuing to torture me with starvation. Lin Xue, using her position as production team leader, did whatever she wanted in team four, extorting and demanding things from the other inmates. Everyone had to buy her fruit, sausages, roast chicken, etc. when they went shopping. Those who were to be released were also forced to buy things for her or she’d cause trouble for their release.

Inmate Li Hui once didn’t allow me to put on a jacket during a winter day. Team lead Sun Jinhui asked why I refused to go to the workshop. I said that Li had hidden all my clothes. Sun said I could talk to team lead Cheng later, and thus deceived me into going to the workshop. Cheng was not there. I ended up shivering for the entire day.

Another time Li Hui deliberately rolled up all the bedding on my bed and threw it under the bed, making me sleep on the bed board for half an hour before letting me take the bedding out and put it back on the bed.

I was sometimes punished by not being allowed to wash for a week. Even when I smelled bad during the hottest days of summer, I was not allowed to shower. The longest no-wash time was two months during the hottest days of summer.

I was reduced to just skin and bones due to physical torture and long-term starvation. Three months and twenty days before my release, inmates Lin Xue and others plotted to drag me to an office and beat me. I immediately reported this to instructor Li Shuying, who was distributing medication. She had team lead Zhang Rui talk to me. I recounted the brutality I had suffered at the hands of Lin Xue and Wen Yuhan, including having my molar knocked out. I demanded that the prison ensure my safety and prevent such incidents from happening again. The prison never publicly announced any disciplinary actions against the perpetrators.

Denied Family Visits

During my nearly three years in the prison, I was allowed only one family visit (which was with my son), and completely denied monthly phone calls with family.

I was set to be released at 9:30 a.m. on February 18, 2026, but instructors Sun Lele and Shi Wanzhu, along with a driver, drove me to my household registration place. My family followed the prison vehicle there and signed a statement saying I renounced Falun Gong, because they were eager to take me home.

I returned home to learn that my mother and had husband died on October 28, 2024, and March 14, 2025, respectively. They had both been traumatized by my prison sentence. Not being able to visit me in the prison only worsened their already frail health conditions. My husband had a stroke and died two months later.
