(Minghui.org) A 54-year-old woman in Longkou City, Shandong Province was arrested on July 14, 2026, for her faith in Falun Gong. She is currently being held in the Yantai City Detention Center.
This is not the first time that Ms. Wang Hongyu, born on October 1, 1971, has been targeted for her faith. She previously served a three-year forced labor term (2003–2006) and two prison terms totaling nine and a half years (April 2007–April 2012 and June 2013–December 2017).
Ms. Wang was arrested numerous other times between her long-term incarcerations. While trying to escape from a brainwashing center in 2001, she jumped out of a building and suffered spinal cord fractures, and her right leg became disabled.
Her latest arrest came on the heels of another recent arrest on July 17, 2025, when more than ten other local Falun Gong practitioners were also seized on the same day. She was detained for 15 days.
