(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners in Hungary held a rally in front of the Chinese Embassy in Budapest on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 to mark the 25th anniversary of the April 25 peaceful appeal in Beijing.

About 10,000 Falun Gong practitioners staged a peaceful appeal outside the State Council’s Appeals Office in Beijing on April 25, 1999, which was 25 years ago. They asked for the release of dozens of practitioners that were arrested unjustifiably in Tianjin during the prior two days. They also asked for an environment where Falun Gong (also called Falun Dafa) could be freely practiced. They also asked for Falun Gong books to be freely published.

Falun Dafa practitioners held a rally in front of the Chinese Embassy in Budapest on April 23, 2024.

Practitioners put up banners calling for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong in three languages: Chinese, English, and Hungarian. They also demonstrated the five exercises of Falun Gong.

Dr. Eszter Fricskó, President of the Hungarian Falun Dafa Association, recalled the events of April 25 in a statement published on social media and praised the appeal’s calm and peaceful nature.

“In 1999, more than 10,000 Falun Gong practitioners from all parts of the country gathered at the State Council Appeals Office near Zhongnanhai in Beijing, asking for protection of their constitutional right to practice their faith,” she said.

Dr. Eszter Fricskó continued: “This peaceful appeal was praised by international public opinion, and has been referred to as 'the largest, most rational and peaceful petition in Chinese history.'"

She remarked: “Just over three months later, on July 20, the CCP leader officially announced a complete ban on Falun Gong, starting an unprecedented wave of arrests and killings across the country. Twenty-five years later, reports of arrests and deaths in custody are still coming in daily.

“In addition to imprisonment, harassment and forced labor, human rights groups believe that thousands of Falun Gong practitioners have been murdered for their organs in Chinese state and military hospitals.”

Many passersby took fliers from the practitioners to better understand the situation in China, and several cars driving by also honked their horns in approval.
