(Clearwisdom.net) Many couples attended the 2009 World Tour at the Place des Arts in Montreal to celebrate the Chinese New Year, as four shows were presented by Divine Performing Arts on January 16 through January 18. The 2009 World Tour showcases traditional Chinese culture by using visual art, song, dance, music, and story telling. Aspects of various dynasties and themes of beauty, unity, goodness are also included to reflect traditional Chinese culture. Two couples who attended the show accepted interviews to get their impressions of the show.

Mark Derrico and Marie Sauvageau attended the show

Mark Derrico and Marie Sauvageau attended the show. Mark is on the police force in the City of Montreal. Marie is a marketing director of a company, organizing fashion shows and publicity for many events. Mark gave his impression, "The artists are very good! I am impressed by the dances and the singing! The singing is very impressive!" His wife, Marie, adds, "It's beautiful! It's beautiful! The music is extravagant, and the costumes are beautiful! It's colorful; it's all that I expected!"

The interviewer asked what Marie liked most about the show. She replied, "I like the dancers! Yes, yes, I love all the dancing numbers very much! There are many [dancers] on stage and the costume's effects with the sleeves--it's really, really beautiful!" Marie was also asked if she learned anything about Chinese culture from the show. "Yes, the legends. It's nice that the show's hosts explained it. Otherwise, we would not figure it out for ourselves." Mark added, "There's some things I'm learning about Falun Dafa, etc. These are aspects of the culture that I'm learning about that I didn't personally know. So it's very interesting to be able to link some of the Chinese culture to our culture here. And I find it's very interesting in that way...The values are important. The social values and values that Buddhism shows: compassion and peace and the difference between good and evil. [It's important] whichever culture we talk about. The predominance of good, and it pays off in the end because you're rewarded for good acts and living a good life, basically. This is the most important thing, I believe."

Mark also liked the dancing acts in the show. "I have to agree with my wife [about the dancing acts]. Apart from the costumes, which are very pretty, there's also the moves that are very intricate. And some of the moves are very impressive, and they're very complex... I find it's different than what we're used to. So I appreciate that a lot!"

Phillipe Bouchard and Lizan Dansereau

Phillipe Bouchard and Lizan Dansereau, another married couple, also attended the show on January 17. They happily stopped to give their impressions of the show. Phillipe said, "It's very different from what I've seen before. I liked the colors, the dance--particularly the women's dances. I find them very graceful, very delicate, and they're very well coordinated. It's very soft, and I really appreciate it." Phillipe doesn't generally see shows. "This one attracted me because I was curious. It's quite different. It fulfilled my expectations." The reporter asked what his expectations were. "Mostly what I've seen. I like Chinese music. And I hadn't seen dance or an artistic performance with Chinese music. So, for me, it's very different. And it's really good entertainment. I liked the ["Udumbara's Bloom"] performance. That was very nice. I heard the legend. And I loved the "Flowing Sleeves;" it's very delicate. My wife liked the colors in one particular dance--the purple and pink in 'Dance of the Yi'."

Lizan then gave her impression, "The color, the music, and everything! I liked the music; it's different!" Philippe added about the singers, "The woman had a powerful voice, very nice voice--a lot of energy." To which Lizan added, "It was great! The pianist was great, too! And I liked the baritone."
