(Clearwisdom.net) The physical condition of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wei Danquan from Qihuangdao City, Hebei Province continues to worsen since the authorities placed him in the Fifth Team of the Fifth Division in Jidong Prison, in Tangshan City on August 3, 2008.
His family members have demanded a medical parole for him, but the Communist authorities have denied it using all kinds of pretexts. We appeal to world human rights organizations and upright individuals to help us rescue Mr. Wei Danquan.
On December 9, 2008, Mr. Wei's family went to visit him and met with Section Chief Zhao. Zhao told the family that Mr. Wei had refused to take medication. The official ordered the family to persuade Mr. Wei to take it. The family questioned Zhao, saying, "If you passed blood as soon as you took that medication, would you take it? That medicine will kill him!"
Mr. Wei's physical condition is very poor. Two people have to support him so that he can walk. He has developed tuberculous pleural adhesions and a herniated disc. Even the instant noodles he eats won't stay in his stomach. A prison official admitted that Mr. Wei was hospitalized for several days prior to December 4, 2008.
Officials from the Shanhaiguan Police Department arrested Mr. Wei back in 2001 and admitted him to the Third Detention Center, where he developed tuberculosis due to abuse. He was released on medical parole following his subsequent detentions in 2004 and 2007. In view of his current medical condition, the family has asked Education Section Chief Wang to release him on medical parole.
Mr. Wei has since been moved to the prison's Fourth Division hospital for a medical examination. The results are not known.
