Once the arrested practitioner arrives at the camp, they are secretly taken to the "garage", a place isolated from the outside. The camp personnel uses this garage as a storage room. When practitioners leave the garage several days later, their legs are visibly swollen and bear blue and purple bruises, and their bodies are covered with scars from severe beatings.
Practitioners are under close surveillance and subjected to full body searches by two criminal inmates that camp guards handpicked and trained. Practitioners are verbally abused and severely beaten even if they only give the appearance of not cooperating. The two inmates order them to stand at an assigned location. They take turns watching them day and night and forbid them to move around. Practitioners are deprived of sleep and often their legs are tied up. This is to force the practitioners to write a guarantee statement renouncing Falun Dafa.
Practitioner Ms. Zhang Yuhua went on a hunger strike to protest, so the camp warden Wu Jing ordered other inmates to use a metal tool to prop open Ms. Zhang's mouth and force-feed her. They dragged her by the arms and legs down from the second floor to the outside, where she was pulled through several feet of snow. The handcuffs cut deeply into Ms. Zhang's wrist. Police often shocked her with electric batons and tortured her with other means.

Practitioners Sun Guizhi, Ma Xiangmei and Yu Xiuhua were also handcuffed and hung up. The handcuffs cut deeply into their hands. For a long period of time, their fingers wouldn't function. The police officers who tortured practitioners were Wang Dongyun, Wu Jing and Liu Yan.
