(Clearwisdom.net) The police in Mei County, Shanxi Province have been persecuting Falun Gong practitioners since July 20, 1999. The following are just a few cases.
On January 7, 2009, Mr. Dang Huwa from Tongmiao Village, Qi Town was reported to the police for clarifying the truth and was subsequently arrested. He was subjected to one and a half years of forced labor and is currently in Zaozhihe Forced Labor Camp.
Mr. Zhang Anying from Zhennanzai Village in Qi Town was sentenced to five years in December 2005. He has been detained at the No. 2 Shanxi Province Prison in Weinan City.
Mr. Wang Suanlao, a railroad worker from Nanzai Village in Qi Town, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in 2000 with his wife and son. They were intercepted before arriving in Beijing. Since then, the police have harassed them on the CCP's sensitive dates. Because his wife was reported for planning to participate in an experience sharing conference, she was given one year of forced labor and detained in Shanxi Women's Forced Labor Camp. In the winter of 2004, Mr. Wang was arrested when he was clarifying the facts about Falun Gong. In November 2005, not long after he was released, his wife was arrested at home. Several days later, Mr. Wang was arrested again. His wife was sentenced to four and a half years in jail, Mr. Wang to three years. In March or April 2005, his son, who was working for the railroad system, was arrested for explaining the facts at work. After suffering abuse for one and a half years, he had a mental breakdown and was released. He couldn't take care of himself, but there was no one at home who could take care of him, either.
At the beginning of 2008, before the Beijing Olympic Games, a special "team" was organized by the Mei County Politics and Law Committee to target Falun Gong practitioners. They aggressively persecuted practitioners, especially after Meng Maixu was promoted to deputy head of the police department.
