Case Description:
(Minghui.org) Dr. Zhang Lei, born on July 12, 1967, obtained a Ph.D. degree in Finance from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He started practicing Falun Gong in May 1998. He joined the April 25, 1999 peaceful appeal at Zhongnanhai.
After the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, Dr. Zhang went to Tiananmen Square to protest by doing Falun Gong exercises with a copy of Zhuan Falun in his pocket.
He was arrested and had his book confiscated. Police sent him back to be detained in his university's security division, where he died in a fall from a building on December 16, 1999. It is unclear how he fell in the first place.
