Swiss Falun Dafa practitioners got together, studied and discussed right after the Minghui articles, "Advance Towards Consummation Through Cultivation Within the Fa Rectification" and "Serious Teachings", were published. The articles were highly inspiring. They realized that the Fa rectification had entered a new phase, and that they should not wait. They wanted to take the opportunity to tell more people about the truth of Falun Gong and to ask the international community to help to stop the brutal persecution by Jiang Zemin and his accomplices. The Swiss practitioners hosted a dinner party for "telling the truth about Falun Gong" on September 29. Some government officials and representatives from international organizations attended the dinner party upon invitation.
At the beginning of the dinner party, two Swiss Dafa practitioners introduced Falun Gong to the guests. Then they specifically talked about the brutal persecution of Falun Gong in China. They pointed out that tens of thousands of Dafa practitioners in China are enduring severe torture and abuse. Many Dafa practitioners' families are in a shambles. More than fifty Dafa practitioners have already died from the persecution. And there are more whose lives are in danger. The Swiss Falun Dafa practitioners asked the international community to take effective measures to stop Jiang Zemin and his accomplices' evil actions that endanger the nation and the people, and to look for a peaceful and just resolution to the situation.
Mr. Rene Wadlow from the World Citizen Organization was the first person to have submitted a special report to the United Nations Human Rights Committee regarding Falun Gong. He had spoken about the Falun Gong issue at the United Nations human rights meetings as a representative of a non-government organization (NGO). He expressed his gratitude to all those who understand and support Falun Gong practitioners and those who protect their own rights. He mentioned that the United Nations Human Rights Committee is in Geneva, and that there are many non-government organizations here as well. He pointed out that the non-government organizations can play a big role on human rights issues, and that there was a lot more work that must be done. He emphasized that we were not against the Chinese government, and that we just wanted them to understand the importance of the human rights issue so that we can establish a better future.
A woman from the World Against Torture Organization talked about the role of the European Union. She commented positively on the human rights dialogue from a few days ago between the European Union and the Chinese government. But she said that if such dialogue cannot change the situation over there, then we shall look for other ways to solve the problem.
The participants of the dinner party formed several groups and had a great discussion about Falun Gong. One government official pointed out that although economic development in China is important, it should not override human rights. He also mentioned that the morality of Chinese citizens is worrisome. He had felt the inner strength of Falun Gong at this dinner party, and he believed that Falun Gong's "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance" could help the citizens to greatly improve their moral values.
The dinner party felt very harmonious and the guests gave the dinner party high praise. After the dinner party, some representatives from the international organizations said that they gained a further understanding of Falun Gong and were deeply impressed by its cultivation. Some expressed great interest upon hearing the practitioners' personal stories and wanted to go to the practice sites to practice. After the dinner party, some representatives talked with the practitioners until midnight and still didn't want to leave.
