On September 30, 2000, before the Chinese National Day (October 1st), nearly two hundred Falun Gong practitioners from the Bay Area of North California gathered in San Francisco for a grand parade to expose the evil deeds of Jiang Zemin in suppressing Falun Gong, and to let the general public to learn the truth about Falun Gong.
Led by a dozen young mothers who were pushing their babies in their baby carriages, and accompanied by the dignified and peaceful Dafa music, the parade started out from Union Square in San Francisco, and calmly proceeded along the street. Many passers-by were attracted by the scene and stopped to get more information. Practitioners in the front of the parade held banners which read, " Falun Dafa is a Righteous Fa", "Jiang Zemin Must be Punished for Suppressing Falun Gong", and "Truthfulness, Benevolence, Tolerance". Some practitioners handed out introductory materials to passers-by to explain the truth about Falun Gong. About one hour later, the parade arrived at the PRC Consulate in San Francisco. Reporters from some newspapers and TV stations of the Bay Area came to photograph the scene and interview the practitioners.
In front of the Chinese Consulate, practitioners stood serenely for about one hour, in protest of the Chinese government's brutality against Falun Gong practitioners, and then they practiced the Falun Gong exercises. After that, they went to three areas where overseas Chinese people live and to the opening ceremony for the release of a Chinese film to distribute Falun Dafa materials. After sunset, practitioners came back to the Chinese Consulate, and held a candlelight vigil to honor the Falun Gong practitioners who died due to the inhuman and brutal suppression by Jiang Zemin and his followers in the past year.
After our Benevolent Teacher's latest articles were published, a number of veteran practitioners who had hesitated to step forward to take part in the Fa-rectification activities, have all let go of their worries and attachments. They have ardently gotten involved in the process of protecting and rectifying the Fa (the law and principles of the universe). They have demonstrated to the world the great benevolence and peacefulness of Falun Dafa practitioners in this special historic period.
