I am a Falun Dafa practitioner from Portland, Oregon. I am 70 years old, and have practiced Falun Dafa for 2 years and 8 months. On October 31st, a young practitioner and I went to distribute Falun Dafa materials at Vice President Gore's election meeting in Portland. I felt that this was a good opportunity to promote the Fa to him, and it was also a precious opportunity to cultivate ourselves.
Once arriving at the meeting, we went to the area with the most traffic. We made sure to wear our yellow T-shirts so everyone would notice us. Not long after we were there, two American girls approached us and in a friendly manner, inquired about Falun Gong. We explained the true facts about Falun Dafa and the situation in China. After they left, an African-American person approached us, and we explained the true facts about our practice to him as well.
When Vice President Gore finished his meeting, he came over to shake the hands of each of his supporters. We noticed that he was moving towards us very quickly. When he was near, he stopped and shook hands with the young practitioner, and the practitioner handed him the prepared materials and video tapes that further explained the true facts about Falun Dafa and contained photos of Chinese practitioners who have been tortured for their belief. He gratefully accepted the materials and gave them to one of his staff members. Then he turned to me. I looked at him and calmly said from the bottom of my heart: "I support you. I hope you will support Falun Gong." When I finished, I repeated these words to him. He smiled warmly and shook my hand with his two hands. He replied, "I know, I know. Falun Gong practitioners have suffered a lot." The fellow practitioner and I were both moved to tears by what he said. I could feel that during the great process of the Fa-rectification, all the kindhearted people are coming to know and understand the Fa. This includes all those among the common people and government officials.
I ask myself, "When will the Chinese officials care about the feelings and suffering of their own people?"
