[Heilongjiang] A secret conference about the persecution of Falun Gong was held in Heilongjiang
On October 13th, 2000, according to well-informed sources, the secretaries of the committee of politics and law from, all areas in Heilongjiang province, gathered in the provincial capital Harbin and held a secret conference about the continued persecution of Falun Gong. In order to deal with the situation that flyers clarifying the true facts regarding the persecution of Falun Gong were appearing all over, in every area, their preliminary decision at the conference was to search all Dafa practitioners' homes whether they had ever been to Beijing to appeal or not. If Falun Gong flyers were found in their homes, they would be immediately arrested. It was quite obvious that Jiang Zemin and his cohorts are terrified that people will begin to know the truth about Falun Gong through these flyers.
At present, because of Jiang Zemin and his allies' persecution of Falun Gong, as well as their inflated selfish desires, rash acts in defiance of law and public opinion, indulging of corrupt officials and criminals, disdaining and snubbing the peoples will, most people do not trust them at all. When all the people know more about the hideous crimes they have committed, Jiang and his followers surely will receive their due retribution.

Since the end of September, numerous Dafa practitioners in Jinan, Northeast China, Nanjing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Jiangxi, etc. have left their homes to clarify the true facts regarding the persecution against Falun Gong and expose Jiang Zemin's lies to all people, utilizing all available methods. As one policeman put it: "Many, many Falun Gong practitioners have disappeared."
To quickly curtail the control of the police and spies, these Dafa practitioners cut off all their communications with their family members after they left home. They all have a common belief: "We will not return home until the Fa has been rectified in the human world."
Since leaving their homes, some practitioners have eaten only two buns per day and have lived in the simplest and crudest places. They were reluctant to buy even one piece of clothing when the weather began to turn cold because they wanted to spare every penny for paper and ink to prepare posters and flyers. They wanted to validate Dafa to the maximum extent. When they exhaust their last penny, they say they will go to Tiananmen to do the exercise of "Holding the Wheel" and yell, "Falun Dafa is good." They will use their last breath to validate Dafa and awaken the people in the world.
[Beijing] This year's graduate of the Chemical Engineering Department of Qinghua University Pan Yidong was sentenced to forced labor education
This year's graduate of Chemical Engineering Department of Qinghua University Pan Yidong was sentenced to labor education after he was arrested when he went to Tiananmen to unfurl a banner on July 23rd. He had just graduated from Qinghua University this July and was deprived of his qualification to be recommended as a direct doctoral candidate because of practicing Falun Gong. He was also forced to quit the Communist Party while he was still at the University.
Not long ago, a female master graduate student of the Chemical Engineering Department of Qinghua University, Yu Jinmei was also sentenced to labor education.
Thus it can be seen that the leaders of the University and department Party committee of Qinghua University did not distinguish between what is righteous and evil because they have helped tyrants to persecute young students. They have violated their sacred responsibility to "Teach the knowledge, educate the students and be a paragon of virtue and learning," and also have violated the school motto to "constantly strive to become stronger, and enhance the moral integrity to maintain society." They have undermined the good reputation of the university, established by earlier generations who defied evil and upheld justice by demonstrating exemplary conduct and noble character. All the world's righteous people can only despise them.
[Hebei] Persecution of Practitioners in Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province
Part 1-- During October, November and December of 1999, 30 practitioners successively stepped forward to safeguard Dafa in Tiananmen Square. After being escorted back by local public security officers, some practitioners were detained in the detention center and others were detained in wards under tight surveillance. They were illegally detained for about two months under criminal charges. During detention, those practitioners were interrogated many times. They were forced to wear prisoners' clothes while being interrogated and to wear handcuffs as well. The male practitioners had their hair shaved off. Except Cao Zhaohui, who was sentenced to forced labor education, all other practitioners were bailed out to await trial after their family members paid fines. The parents of two young practitioners were even forced to write a pledge promising that if their own children went to Tiananmen again, they themselves would be also sentenced to three-year labor education along with their children.
In mid-December of 1999, around 20 practitioners went to Tiananmen to safeguard Dafa, and after taking them back, the public security beat them brutally and forced them to reveal who had organized the event. Public security officers asked the practitioners to kneel down on the ground and then beat them with clubs, the diameter of which was around 4 centimeters. They beat them so severely that some clubs were broken into two or three pieces. A practitioner who worked in the Electric Power Bureau passed out on the spot. Xiao Cai (Cai Jr.), an employee of the Mining Bureau and a practitioner, who worked in Lingyun Factory were beaten most severely. Ma Yongxia, an employee of the Mining Bureau was beaten on his hips, which became black and badly swollen. Dong Hanjie was slapped with wet towels, and his face became bruised and swollen.... All these practitioners were fined 10~~20 thousand Yuan RMB afterwards (US$1,250 - US$2,500, over two years of average income in cities), and most of them were suspended from their duties and lost their salaries. Xie Haiying and Jiang Fugui, employees of the Electric Power Bureau, were both expelled from the Communist Party and discharged from public employment by their work unit.
On December 17th, 1999, Geng Liang, a Dafa contact person for the Geological Bureau and Ma Yongxia, a Dafa contact person for the Mining Bureau, were singled out to be paraded through the streets, and forced to accept a public trial, together with other non-practitioner criminals. They were handcuffed, and signboards were hung on their chests reading "Suspected Criminal XX." The video documentary of the humiliation of these two Dafa practitioners was broadcast on Zhuozhou TV Station continuously for three days.
After they were released, Geng Liang and Ma Yongxia were still under close surveillance by their work unit. They had to ask for leave if they wanted to be away from home. Geng Liang was required to be accompanied by at least one of his family members both when he was at home and when he went out. He was deprived of all his personal freedom.
Part 2--- Since 2000, several dozens of practitioners were arrested because they openly practiced the exercises or went to Tiananmen to safeguard Dafa. Except Wang Zhiqin and Zhao Meng, who were sentenced to forced labor education, most of the others were detained for about 15 days and were fined as well.
As the two conferences of the central government were approaching, three practitioners were asked whether they were going to appeal. They answered "yes," and then were detained. They were not released until the conferences were over.
Dafa books owned by Chen Lan (alias) were confiscated twice and then were claimed back by her. When she went to asked for her book, she said," I am wherever the books are."
On July 6th, Zhao Shancui paid a visit to another practitioner, as her family members didn't allow her to read Dafa books. As reported by the husband of Chen Lan (alias) (who opposed Chen Lan practicing the exercises and who wanted to divorce her) Yihezhuang County police station confiscated Zhao Shancui's and Chen Lan's books. They were detained for over half a month in Zhuozhou Public Security Bureau. During her detention, Zhao Shancui was released after an eight-day hunger strike. She asked the Public Security Bureau for the books, but public security officers told her to claim the books at Yihezhuang County police station. Yihezhuang County police station tricked her by saying that the books had already been returned to her family members. Upon arriving at home, her family members said that they had not received the books at all.
On July 20th, Li Shuying was asked whether she would go to appeal. She answered "yes" and then was arrested and was beaten with a thick club.
This year, when Zheng Weiqing was released after she was detained 15 days for protecting Dafa, the Public Security Bureau asked her family members to pay fines. Her family members said that they had no money. As a result, the public security arrested Zheng Weiqing's mother and detained her for 15 days.
In September, the head of Dongxianpo Village of Zhuozhou City harbored ulterior motives and openly concocted lies on Zhuozhou TV Station. The TV report claimed that "One Falun Gong practitioner said, 'others plant crops with chemical fertilizer, but I don't. What I need to do is to emit qi into the soil.'" As all Dafa practitioners know, we do not talk about emitting qi, emitting gong, etc. at all. When we heard of the words of that head of the village, we could immediately tell he was concocting lies.
A Dafa practitioner of Zhuozhou city was called on by a public security officer and was forced to slander Dafa on TV. After the practitioner refused to do so, public security officers immediately detained him. His current situation is unknown.

[Hebei] Name list of Dafa practitioners sent to labor camps in Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province
- Cao Zhaohui: Male, around 50 years of age, a peasant from Matou County, Zhuozhou City, is a local Dafa assistant. He was arrested going to Tiananmen in Beijing to safeguard the Fa in mid-November 1999. After being sent back to his hometown, he was severely tortured by public security officers, including being slapped on the face with a bamboo stick, electrified by an electric baton, and punctured by over 30 electric needles over his body. But this practitioner is very resolute and has said that he will resolutely cultivate till the end (reported over the Internet in the past). He was later sentenced by the Public Security Bureau of Zhuozhou City to three years of forced labor education.
- Wang Zhiqin: Female, over 50 years old, a staff member of Northern China Aluminum Factory of Zhuozhou City, Dafa assistant at this factory. Ms. Wang Zhiqin and her husband made very significant contributions to the initial spread of Dafa in Zhuozhou. At the end of February, she was arrested for practicing the exercises in public in front of the Fanyang Cinema in Zhuozhou. She was fined and sentenced to three years labor education.
- Zhao Meng: Female, over 40 years old, a staff member of Office of Family Planning of Zhuozhou City. She was arrested for practicing exercises with Ms. Wang Zhiqin in front of the Fanyang Cinema in Zhuozhou at the end of February. She was sentenced by the Public Security Bureau of Zhuozhou City, to three years labor education. Because Ms. Zhao Meng's younger brother, studying in the United States, is also a Dafa practitioner, the Public Security insisted on claiming she had a connection with foreign anti-China forces.
[Mainland] News from Mainland China
- Beijing: At present, there are still practitioners from out of town coming to Beijing continuously. It was reported that there were about 20 or so practitioners from Yunnan and Zhengzhou who unfurled banners in Tiananmen Square. Some were arrested, but some escaped.
- Some Beijing bound passenger buses were put out of service outside Beijing in order to prevent Dafa practitioners from entering Beijing. In the suburbs of Beijing, all passengers heading for Beijing would be interrogated. If someone acknowledged himself to be a Dafa practitioner, he would be immediately taken away.
- Tongzhou: special agents, who have been released from labor camps and claim to be Dafa practitioners, are still engaged in sabotaging Dafa in an attempt to shake Dafa practitioners' beliefs.
- Changchun: When purchasing a train ticket, it is mandatory to speak a sentence cursing Dafa before the ticket will be sold. There are even statements attacking Dafa and Teacher printed on the tickets. Thus practitioners would tear tickets apart even if they had bought them. These indecent means have been deployed to prevent practitioners from entering Beijing.
- Changchun Labor Camp: Average Classes and Strictly Managed Classes have been created to treat separately the average practitioners and those practitioners regarded as "tough" ones. Practitioners in Strictly Managed Classes are treated very harshly, and are not allowed to talk to anyone. Some practitioners' mouths were shocked by electric batons and have turned purplish black and become badly swollen.
