Your Excellency:

I write to you in the spirit of the friendship that is rapidly developing between your country and our country to inquire about the health of Ms. Zhao Xin who, I am informed, suffered grave injury while being tortured in the custody of the Chinese police.

I am the Member of Parliament for the Yukon Territory, located in the extreme Northwest of Canada. One of my constituents drew my attention to the plight of Falun Gong practitioners in your country.

Respect for human rights is an issue, which transcends all differences of race, nationality and belief. I appealed to you, as head of state, to insure that this fundamental principle is respected not only in the case of Ms. Zhao Xin, but also in the treatment of all Falun Gong practitioners in your country.
