BEIJING, Dec 13 (AFP) - A Chinese college professor has died six months after being badly beaten by police while in detention for refusing to denounce the banned Falungong movement, group members said Wednesday.

BEIJING (AP) -- Braving heavy police security, hundreds of friends and family attended the funeral Wednesday of a member of the banned Chinese Falun Gong meditation [group] who died, allegedly of police abuse.

Human Rights Week this year is December 10-16 while Human Rights Day is December 10, both, which commemorate the adoption of the "Universal Declaration of Human Rights" by the United Nations in 1948. The commemoration day for the Bill of Human Rights is December 15, on which the Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution was passed in 1791.
