[1] Practitioners in Shijiazhuang, Ye-ning Liang and Rong-xin Duan, Were Sentenced
According to sources, Ye-ning Liang and Rong-xin Duan were given sentences of 6 and 8 years in jail respectively on February 1, 2000.
[2] Xi-meng Zhou and other practitioners tortured in the Tang-shan Labor Camp
A fellow practitioner saw Xi-meng Zhou, the former contact person of Falun Dafa Shijiazhuang assistance center in the first women labor camp of Tangshan City on January 27, 2000. On that day, she was on the eight day of hunger strike. Some other practitioners were also on hunger strike. The number of them was unknown. Their situation was very dangerous.
On January 19, 2000, all practitioners detained in the first women labor camp of Tangshan City started hunger strike to protest the physical torture because of practicing Falun Gong. They were forced to stand outdoors in a weather of 15 degrees bellow zero; some practitioners had their hands or other parts frozen.
Some officials in the labor camp said that Falun Gong practitioners were different from criminals. They could take care of each other and be considerate for others. They indeed had high moral values. Falun Gong problem was a problem of belief. Violence should not be adopted for changing one's belief.
[3] Practitioners in Chengdu City Were Sentenced Before the Chinese New Year
Before the Chinese New Year, some practitioners in Chengdu were sentenced. Xiao-song Wang was given a sentence of 7 years in jail. Yan Li, Zhi-jie Li and some other practitioners were sent to labor camps.
The arrest and sentence of Xiao-song Wang made a stir in his former workplace, the Dayi County education department. His supervisors and colleagues all went to the department of public security to question the police officers why such a well-known good person was arrested and sentenced. In the New Year's celebration of his workplace, everyone felt sad when talking about his sufferings.
Currently, practitioners who are waiting for sentence in the Lian-hua Village detention center of Chengdu City are from all walks of life. There are workers, peasants, college students, professors, school president, senior engineers and retired officials (such as An-rong Cao) etc. They are all very determined about Falun Dafa.
Practitioners who were arrested together with Ms. Bing Kong are being detained in the Lian-hua village detention center. Ms. Bing Kong and her son were deported from China on January 26, 2000.
In addition, graduate students of Si-chuan Universtiy, Min-pu Luo and Tao Liu, graduate student of Si-chuan Industrial College, Min-yong Chen, were transferred to Lin-xia street Jail of Chengdu City, waiting for severe sentence. They are detained together with murders, drug dealers and other criminals. Yun-hong Jiang was also transferred to the city jail.
To prevent practitioners from going to Beijing to appeal and exchange experience with each other, the "transformation class" held by the Chengdu public security department were still in operation on the Chinese New Year's Day. Many enterprises stated clearly that practitioners could not take vacation during the New Year's Day.
[4] Practitioners in Chong-qing City Resumed Regular Group Practice And Group Study
In a district of Chong-qing City, practitioners have already resumed their regular group practice and group study. They would gather together at least once a week to practice, study and exchange experience. This way, they were able to improve very quickly. Many practitioners have gone to Beijing to appeal.
A PhD student of Chong-qing University went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. After he was escorted back to Chong-qing, the police officers invited his parents to the detention center, hoping that they could pressure their son to give up Falun Dafa. After the parents saw their son, they said, "We understand you and will support you. You should never denounce Teacher Li and Falun Dafa against your conscience." The son was deeply moved by his parents' words and became even more determined about Falun Dafa.
