[Chengdu City, Si-chuan Province] Practitioner Almost Collapsed Mentally Because of Torturesá

Practitioner Cai Jin-feng, a former employee of the Metallurgy Section of 420 Factory in Chengdu City, had been detained for 15 days after she went to Beijing to petition for Falun Gong on last December 5. She went to Beijing again to appeal for Falun Gong March 1. She got detained again afterwards by the Chengdu police. She might be given a sentence of forced labor education or sent into jail. Ms. Cao has almost collapsed mentally because of the tortures by the Chengdu police.á

[Beijing] Practitioners Continued to Protest On Tiananmen Square

On March 3, several Falun Gong practitioners unfurled banners of Falun Dafa on the Tiananmen Square and immediately got beaten up and arrested by the police .á

A witness said two middle-aged women unfurled a Falun Dafa banner at 10am and then started to practice Falun Dafa exercises. One woman stood there holding up the banner, while the other woman practicing the sitting meditation. A dozen of police officers rushed to them immediately and pushed the woman holding up the banner to the ground.á

Another witness said that the police had madly beaten up that woman holding up the banner. A few minutes later, two male practitioners were also dragged into the police vehicle. This witness said that within 90 minutes he had seen 5 groups of practitioners being arrested for practicing Falun Gong on the Tiananmen Square. [From Chinese news net, March 4, 2000]

[Beijing] Police are everywhere on the Tiananmen Square; Many Pretending to Be Tourists

On March 2 after attending the news conference by the Political Consultative Committee, the reporter of the Sun Newspaper went out of the Auditorium and had the following conversation with a police officer on duty:

"Do you still clear the Tiananmen Square after 10pm?"

Police, "No, We don't. One can come here anytime."

"Are there any protests recently?"

Police, "No. How dare one come here now?"

"I heard that you could handle protests very quickly."

Police, "Of course. You see, police are everywhere."

The reporter took a look at the Square and found there were indeed many police vehicles. Many tourists on the Tiananmen Square were actually plainclothes agents.á
