A Divorce Threat to A Falun Gong Practitioner from His Family Under Pressure

As the persecution of Falun Gong members gets worse and worse in China, the families of individual practitioners are getting more and more pressure from the Chinese government. I am one of the victims. Now my family has been on the brink of falling apart. My wife has asked me for a divorce because of the pressure by the Chinese government against Falun Gong.

My name is Liang Bao-Kuan. I was a worker in a factory of the Capital Steel Corporation. Because I refused to give up practicing Falun Dafa, and went to appeal at an appealing office, the pressure immediately followed. Firstly, my Communist Party membership was taken away. Secondly, when I was in the detention center, the police came and searched my home. Later, my work contract was discontinued and I was forced to leave the factory. My family has been under tremendous pressure from the government, and they cannot take it anymore.

My wife wants to divorce me, so we went to the court to do the necessary documentation. When the judge asked for the reason for the divorce, my wife said, "It is because he practices Falun Gong. I live in fear every day due to the pressure. The terrible scenes of the house searches by the police, their grave faces and their threats keep coming to my mind. He could be taken to jail or beaten to death at any moment. The whole family lives in terror and the parents on both sides are in tears all the times from the threats and the pressure." The judge then asked my wife, "How is the relationship between you two?" She said, "I know he is good in every aspects of our lives. I am just scared."

My wife knows that Falun Dafa is good, because she can see the benefit to me. I had suffered from a great deal of illnesses before I started practicing Falun Gong. I had insomnia, constipation and stomach problems. I had to take medicine every day. I also suffered from a stubborn chronic skin disease on my back, which was quite painful and rendered me incapable to sit. I had taken various medicines, but nothing worked. The doctor said that there was no cure for the skin disease. Later I also got a severe gum infection and had to go to the hospital often for treatment. I could not perform well at my job and was in pain all the time due to my health problems. After I learned Falun Dafa, I come to understand the relationship between life, illness and karma. I asked myself to act according to higher moral standards. Only two months after I began practicing Falun Gong, my chronic illnesses disappeared.

The Teacher said, "Cultivation is by cultivating one's heart. If one wants to recover from illness and gain cultivation energy, one must use a higher standard to conduct himself." For example, I borrowed 35,000 Yuan RMB to buy a van in June 1997. I used the van to transport customers illegally after hours to make money. I made more than 4000 Yuan RMB monthly. I was fined three times for that. After I learned Falun Dafa, I felt that my behavior was not correct as compared to the standard of the great law of Falun Dafa. My action is against the governmental policy. This thought was more and more clear in my mind. After four months of debating, I finally convinced my family and stopped the illegal business and got rid of the van.

Government officials, our family once lived in joy, but it is now on the brink of falling apart under your pressure and threats.

We appeal to all international human rights organizations to impel the Chinese government to stop its brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and help thousands of practicers of Falun Gong get out of this terrible disaster. Thank you!
