(Clearwisdom.net) During the preparations for the "Peace and Compassion Day" that was held on November 3rd, Canadian practitioners received tremendous support and a great response from Canadian politicians, NGOs (non-governmental organizations), and the public.

With our persistent efforts in clarifying the truth for over two years, more and more Canadians have come to understand the wonders of Dafa. Quite a few Members of Parliament (MP) have become close friends with practitioners and have extended their support to Dafa despite the pressures and difficult situation. Some MP's even come to our practice site to learn the exercises. Our event on November 3 was supported and sponsored by a few MP's and councilors, and thus, it was possible to hold it at City Hall and City Hall Square. This was the second time this year that we obtained a permit to hold an event at City Hall.

Moreover, certain MP's and responsible personnel of an NGO, showing no fear of the external pressures, formally invited the founder of Falun Dafa, Mr. Li Hongzhi to visit Canada and give a public lecture at City Hall Square. This shows that the Canadian people and the society have started to enter into a new stage of obtaining Dafa.

This is the very first time both in Canada and other countries in the world that an MP-level government official has sent an invitation to the founder of Falun Dafa to give a public lecture. We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation to them.

Mr. Li Hongzhi
Founder of Falun Dafa

Dear Mr Li Hongzhi,

As a federal Member of Parliament, I am delighted to join other elected officials in extending an invitation for you to visit Canada and lecture at Toronto City Hall on November 3rd, 2001.

Over the last two years, a number of Falun Dafa friends have provided to me a complete picture of Falun Dafa, including the persecution that practitioners experienced in China. I am proud to have supported both you and your students during these very difficult times. Falun Dafa has garnered wide support in Canada from all levels of government, and many of my colleagues in Parliament of all political stripes.

The purpose of the event at Toronto City Hall on November 3rd is to celebrate Falun Dafa in Canada, which hopes to promote a better, safer, more tolerant and prosperous society.

Yours sincerely,

John Godfrey, M.P.

Dear Mr. Li,

I support you and your students in peacefully appealing for basic human rights such as practicing the healthy, gentle meditation exercises of Falun Gong and the spiritual belief in the universal principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance. Through contact with my Falun Dafa friends, I appreciate the principles taught by you and supported by your students. Moreover, I condemn the government of China for the severe persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in that country.

Looking forward to your lecture in Toronto at the November 3 event.

Yours truly,
