A letter to the United Nations Secretary General Mr. Kofi Annan

Dear United Nations Secretary General Mr. Kofi Annan,

We have traveled on foot 1,000 kilometers from Montreal Canada to present you with our heart-felt message "SOS! URGENT: Rescue Falun Gong practitioners persecuted in China." We hope the goodness in your heart hears this message that the four of us walked some 60 days to deliver.

The reason that the practitioners need to be rescued is because Jiang Zemin's 610 Office is terrorizing the entire Chinese nation to "wipe out" Falun Gong. The 610 Office is using every aspect of society to follow the president's orders to "ruin Falun Gong followers economically, destroy their reputation, and exterminate them physically."

The 610 Office's campaign of state-terrorism against Falun Gong practitioners has lasted for over two years. The lives of hundreds of millions of people from every level and category of society have been miserably and profoundly harmed by this gross injustice. When the President of China learned that Falun Gong had gained the highest reputation in the country and that tens of millions of Chinese people were practicing it, he feared losing popularity with the masses. Overall, in the past two years of the persecution: á

• Hundreds of thousands of innocent and peaceful people have been illegally and inhumanly tortured in mental hospitals, jails, detention centers, labor camps and brainwashing "classes;"
• China's state-controlled media and its entire government propaganda machine are used to defame Falun Gong through fabrications, distortions, and vicious slander.

• The 610 Office uses the entire Chinese government infrastructure to pressure Chinese people to persecute Falun Gong practitioners and to commit crimes against humanity.

• China's entire diplomatic branch is used to silence international condemnation through economic pressure.

• Chinese communities worldwide are infected with the Jiang regime's vicious propaganda through direct intervention from overseas embassies and consulates.

Facing the extremely evil persecution, being humiliated, abducted by state police, tortured, raped, imprisoned, slandered and even murdered, practitioners in China have chosen not to quietly hide themselves at home, but rather to courageously and selflessly step forward to protect virtue and goodness for the future of our society. Their hearts are not filled with hatred and neither do they choose to retaliate with violence. Rather, they use only peaceful means to appeal and tirelessly reveal the truth to the world with their sweat, suffering and even with their lives. They demonstrate the power of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance."

Inspired by the efforts of practitioners in China, we began this 1,000km SOS walk. We endured many hardships of our own to expose the inhumane crimes committed against Falun Gong practitioners in China and we gathered support from many people along the way as we shared the universal principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance."

History will unfold the following picture for everyone. On one side are Jiang Zemin's atrocities and terrorism against his own people, and on the other side, Falun Gong practitioners have demonstrated extraordinary peace, compassion and forbearance, upholding the universal principle with determination and courage.

This is a trial to reveal everyone's true nature. One is either with Jiang Zemin, allowing his crimes to continue, or one is with these courageous, virtuous people who in a larger context are sacrificing themselves to awaken the conscience of the people in the world.

Mr. Annan, as more and more people stand up for Falun Gong, we hope we can count on your support. As a Nobel Peace Prize laureate and as Secretary-General of the United Nations, there is so much that a man in your position can do to stop these crimes against humanity. This is an extremely serious and urgent matter. Hardly a day goes by when we do not receive reports of new atrocities committed against practitioners in China. All our hardships during the past 60 days and every step we took over the past 1,000 km were taken to awaken the goodness in your heart. As the death toll rises almost every day, we urge you and the United Nations to clearly stand up for justice and to call for an end to the 610 Office and its crimes against those in China who are persecuted for upholding "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance."
