Dear Ms. XX:

Thank you for contacting me about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by the Chinese Government. I appreciated hearing from you.

As a member of the Human Rights Caucus, I am deeply concerned about the violations of human and political rights perpetrated against Falun Gong practitioners. The persecution of members of the Falun Gong is one of the many reasons that I oppose extending normal trade relations (NTR) to China. Continually granting NTR status to the Chinese government has resulted in worsening human rights abuses, religious persecution, increasing trade imbalances, the theft of America's intellectual property, a dramatic increase in Chinese military spending, and growing Chinese military aggression towards its neighbors.

I am hopeful that Congress will continue to pressure China to improve its record on human rights. You can be sure that I will continue to support efforts to end China's repression of the Falun Gong.

Again, thank you for contacting me. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.

á

Sincerely,

ROBERT A. BORSKI

Member of Congress
