More than two dozen Falun Gong practitioners in metro Atlanta silently paid tribute to the hundreds of followers killed or facing persecution in China's crackdown on their spiritual movement. The gathering was part of a vigil held in more than 25 cities worldwide on the eve of a U.N. Commission on Human Rights vote on whether to condemn China for human rights abuses. Becky Yao, who helped organize the Atlanta vigil at the King Center, said the gatherings were meant to send the message that while Falun Gong practitioners are peaceful, they are not passive.
