Re: Falun Gong

Dear Hong Kong Chief Executive,

I am a university student in Canada who has been practicing Falun Gong for nearly three years. Since starting to practice Falun Gong my health has improved tremendously, I have more energy, and I feel more relaxed throughout my day-to-day life. Falun Gong is based on the universal principle of Truth-Compassion-Tolerance. By taking these values as a guide I have found that my family relationships have improved, I am able to tolerate difficult situations better and I am able to handle stressful aspects of my life very calmly. Falun Gong has brought inner peace to over 100 million people worldwide.

I am writing to you today because I was shocked to hear that the freedom of the Hong Kong Falun Dafa practitioners could be restrained. The practitioners in Hong Kong are law-abiding citizens who only wish to improve their health and upgrade their morals through the practice of Falun Dafa. The teachings of Falun Dafa encourage people to look within themselves when conflicts arise and to think of others before themselves. Falun Dafa genuinely benefits society and this has been recognized by many people throughout the world. In addition, the vicious crackdown against the Falun Dafa practitioners in China is both illegal and inhumane and the world already sees the lies behind it.

I hope that you will think carefully before taking any action. My understanding is that the purpose of government is to represent and to protect the people in its own country. The Falun Dafa practitioners in Hong Kong should be treated fairly and given the freedom to practice/believe in what they would like. It's the people's basic right.

Sincerely,

(name withheld to protect the writer) A concerned Canadian student and a Falun Dafa practitioner
