Local followers of Falun Dafa rallied in Mill Creek Park Saturday to highlight the plight of Charles Lee, an American citizen arrested for trying to expose persecution of the faith's practitioners in China.

Event organizers handed out postcards addressed to President Bush asking for the government's help in obtaining Lee's release from a Chinese prison.

Lee, from Menlo Park, Calif., has been detained since Jan. 22, 2003, after being charged with attempting to broadcast information on state-run television about the Falun Dafa movement, also known as Falun Gong.

One of the organizers of the event, David Snape, said that Lee's cause was something all Americans should be concerned about.
