Facts of the Persecution

1) Liu Li, 51 years old, was an employee working in the cafeteria of the First Oil Extraction Plant in Daqing Oil Field, Heilongjiang Province. She was arrested on September 26, 2001 while distributing Falun Gong truth-clarification materials. In 2002, the Sa District Prosecutor's Office in Daqing City sentenced her to five years in prison. In 2003, her work unit fired her. Her husband had passed away long ago. With her arrest, her 24-year-old son was left home alone.

2) Fifty-three-year-old Wang Deqian was an excellent teacher from Longmen Village Middle School, Laiyang County, Baoding City, Hebei Province. He was also an outstanding artist. Because he firmly cultivated in Dafa, he was arrested in 2002 and sent to Baoding Labor Camp. Due to suffering various tortures, his health deteriorated. Now he is in grave danger.

3) On February 10, two female Dafa practitioners Zhu Shujuan and Sun Yuzhi were distributing truth-clarification materials in Nanyuanxilou Residential Area of Shanhaiguan, Hebei Province when they were abducted by police chief Zhang Deyue who had been following them. They were taken to the Xijie Police Station. The next day, Shen Ruiqin, her husband Wang Jichang and her son were also abducted.

4) Cao Guifen, 64 years old, was a female farmer from Group Six, Tianshenghao Village, Sanjiazi Township, Lingyuan City. Because she practiced Falun Dafa, she was abducted and forced to go through brainwashing. Later she was sent to a mental hospital. The police also ransacked her home. At the mental hospital, she went on a hunger strike to protest. As a result, she was force fed for four days. Moreover, the police had doctors inject unknown drugs into her, causing her to often fall into a coma. Later, she was injected with six bottles of unknown drugs every day.

5) My name is Qian Youyun. In March 2003, I was abducted and sent to Jiangxia District Brainwashing Center in Wuhan City, Hebei Province. For nine days, I was not allowed to sleep. People from the police department, courts and prosecutor's office took turns intimidating me and attempting to force me to write statements denouncing Dafa. I refused so they slapped me on the face, beat me, and forced me to stand for long periods of time. I told them I couldn't stand (my legs had some problems due to three years of detention in a prison) and I sat on the ground. They kicked me and stomped on my legs.

6) My name is Jin Jixin and I'm from Yuanyang County, Henan Province. On the night of March 2, 2003, the county political security section and police came to my home to conduct an illegal search. They forcibly took away my wife. In the early morning on March 3, my wife escaped with righteous thoughts. The police were outraged. They came to my home again, abducted me and my 15-year-old daughter, and sent us to the county detention center. After one month's detention, I started to have headaches, stomach aches, diarrhea, and I was emaciated. I also had a high fever of 41oC [105.8o Farhrenheit!] and I fell into a coma. The police didn't release me until they extorted 1000 Yuan from my family [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China]. During my detention, they also invalidated my residence card.

7) Sixty-year-old Li Yuxiang was a blind man from Sanjiazi Village, Lingyuan City. Because he persisted in practicing Falun Dafa, he was abducted and sent to the Second Detention Center. He was thrown into a cold cell. He had to sleep on the bare bed board without any bedding. His home was burglarized because no one was home to take care of it. Later, the police station released him.

8) Hu Dianxin from Beilu Village, Lingyuan City was tortured many times because he refused to give up his belief in Falun Gong. He was tortured to death on January 16, 2001 of the Chinese lunar calendar, at the age of 62. His wife Cui Yuzhi, 68, went to Beijing to appeal in December 2000. Later she was abducted and sent to the Second Detention Center where she was jailed for 15 days. After she was released, the police still came to harass her. The couple's eldest daughter Hu Yanrong went to Beijing to appeal on December 30, 2000. As a result, she was arrested and sent to the Second Detention Center where she was jailed for six months. The police also extorted 800 Yuan from her. In June 2001, Hu Yanrong was sentenced to 2 years of forced labor education and sent to Masanjia Labor Camp. During the detention, she suffered both mentally and physically. Not wanting to take responsibility if she were to die, the police released her but they extorted 2000 Yuan from her first. Her younger sister Hu Yanli went to Beijing to appeal in February 2000. She was also sent to the Second Detention Center to be persecuted. The police extorted 400 Yuan from her. Before releasing her, the police extorted another 4000 Yuan from her.

9) Chen Wenduo was a math teacher from the 24th Middle School of Yingkou City, Liaoning Province. His wife Liu Dan was an English teacher from the same school. Because of their belief in Falun Gong, the couple had been detained, fined, sentenced to labor camps, and had their home ransacked many times. They were both fired. They have been forced to leave their home to avoid further persecution.

10) On September 20, 2002, Zou Yuqin was abducted by police from Lianxi Police Station, Handan City, Hebei Province. Her clinic was also ransacked. The next day, the police sent her to Handan City First Detention Center. On September 23, 2003, the police extorted 2000 Yuan in the name of so-called bond from her relatives. Later, the police from Section One of Congtai District Police Branch Office picked her up from the detention center and sent her straight to a brainwashing class. The police also forced her work unit to pay 4000 Yuan as so-called brainwashing expenses. They had planned to hold her there for at least one month. They assigned one person to specifically watch her around the clock. They attempted to force her to write statements denouncing Falun Gong. Zou firmly resisted. Later she escaped with righteous thoughts. Now she's been forced to leave her home and travel about to avoid further persecution.

11) On February 12, 2004, Ma Qingbo, captain of the National Security Brigade of Longgan District, Huludao City, Liaoning Province, along with some other people, abducted practitioner Tao Shan, who had been living away from home for 2 years. They also confiscated Tao's taxicab. Tao has been jailed in the Huludao Detention Center.

12) Dafa practitioner Hao Yafen was from Sanhe City, Hebei Province. She went to Beijing many times to appeal. As a result, she was arrested, detained and tortured many times. Yanjiao Police Station went to her husband's work unit many times to harass him, causing great trauma to him. In order to avoid further persecution, she was forced to leave home. She's been leading a homeless life for nearly 2 years.

13) After 11 p.m. on the night of January 19, 2004, corrupt officers from Xuyang City "610 Office" and police department of Anhua Province suddenly broke into the home of practitioner Zhang Lili. They took her away and sent her to the First Detention Center to be persecuted.

14) On February 4, 2004, practitioner Zha Suyan from Shimenzhai Town, Funing County, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province was arrested at home by the town police. Her teenage son and daughter were left home with no one taking care of them. Another practitioner Zhang Huijuan, a middle school teacher from Shimenzhai Town, was distributing materials on January 3, 2004, when she was reported to police by villagers who had been deceived about Falun Gong. She was taken to the town police station. While trying to escape by jumping off a wall, she fell and broke her legs. She's now hospitalized. Her school suspended her salary.

15) Ms. Song Lianying, a farmer from Wanli Village, Dalian City, Liaoning Province, had suffered tremendously from torture because of her firm belief in Dafa. Her husband Liu Zhenbao, pressured by authorities, abused her in attempt to force her to give up practicing. She had been detained in various places including drug rehabilitation centers and detention centers. Now she's gone into hiding in order to avoid further persecution.
