(Clearwisdom.net) In the name of the Olympic Games, and instigated by Liu Zhonghui, CCP party secretary of Shouguang City, and Nie Zuokun from the City Police Bureau, police in Shouguang City started to arrest Falun Gong practitioners in April 2008. Over a hundred Falun Gong practitioners were arrested and detained. Over fourteen practitioners were sent to labor camps, and nine were sentenced to prison. At this time, the nine practitioners are still being detained in Shouguang Detention Center.
CCP officials in Shouguang City had planned long before to sentence the nine Falun Gong practitioners. On Nov. 10, 2008, the Shouguang City Procuratorate filed a lawsuit in the Shouguan City Court. The original court date was Nov. 27, but the date was pushed back because they were afraid of being exposed. On December 25, 2008, a secret trial was held. A lot of policemen were deployed around the court on that day.
After the New Year of 2009, a verdict was issued: a fourteen year prison term for Zhang Zhaoyu, twelve years for You Huifu, eleven years for Zhao Suyan, ten years for Zhao Suhong, ten years for Han Lianfeng, eight years for Yang Ruiying, six years for Ding Hong, six years for You Yunsheng and four years for Li Suzhen.
All Falun Gong practitioners have appealed to a higher court. The Weifang City Intermediate Court is proceeding with the appeal.
